Re: World Cup 2006

Wow, I thought England couldn?t play worse than they did against Paraguay but i was obviously wrong

No creativity, no depth, no speed...jeez...get Crouch out, get Downing in, or whoever the fuck else they have for wingers, and stick Cole in the middle as a playmaker/false striker, he?s the only creative guy in the squad. And if Rooney?s ready, take that cunt Owen out too, he?s not doing shit out there.

Re: World Cup 2006

Anyone know what kind of RUM the Trini players will get if they win?

I'm listening to this fuck, O'Brein and he's saying that the Trini country is going to give every player on the team a barrel / 26 gallons of a special aged rum if they win this match.

Er, are we watching the same game? We arent playing all that bad if you ask me, look how many chances we have created, were all over them.

I posted that at half time.

Of course my opinion?s different now, thank God...I have to go out next and I?m wearing my England shirt so i don?t want people laughing at me.

2-0 BTW, great strike by Gerrard!

No RUM for Trini!

Re: World Cup 2006

Yes indeed, now we can relax, the last game doesn`t mean anything for a change so we can give the second string a run out and rest the big boys.

Re: World Cup 2006

what a fucking beaut by gerrard!

i agree we played a lot better than the paraguay match.. just couldnt finish.. totally dominated possession.. and yes crouch did finally put in a deliscious cross from becks.. but the next time he flips up a ball to bicycle it in the box, he needs a good slap in the face

i think both us and sweden made that goalie look a lot better than he is.. most of the saves were right at him

cant do anything the easy huh? lol

the last game most likely will make a difference though if sweden win today they will be on 4 points, we need to win the group

#656585Post 216 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

I dont think the Swedes will win, theres too much in-camp fighting between the players for them to concentrate on the game.

75 mins gone and its 0-0. If it stays like that our last match will mean fuck all.

Hmm, poor Paragua

#656659Post 223 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

possibly a good opportunity to tinker with the lineup a bit?

holding midfielder imo. get carrick in there for a game to see what he can do, drop lampard for a game so his yellow card clears and let gerrard roam forward.

#656660Post 224 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

shit. fucking swedes. :p

#656664Post 225 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

i just dont think lampard AND gerrard in the middle is working at all.

Re: World Cup 2006
i just dont think lampard AND gerrard in the middle is working at all.
That´s what I´ve been saying since the 1st game. They´re like twins...having both on all by themselves in the middle doesn´t work and it´s like they cancel each other out.

But if sven MUST have them both on, then either he sticks a guy behind them in difficult matches (carrick, carragher?), to force them both up (with one of them on the transitions and the other as the last pass man), or, in easier games, put in a winger to make either Beckham or Cole come to the middle and force Gerrard and Lampard to do battle further behind.

The 1st solution is the best, but, of course, if I was Sven, I don´t know who I´d take out : Lampard or Gerrard.

#656688Post 228 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

lampard needs to sit out the next game. wasted many chances today, and he's on a yellow.

carrick should get in.

#656692Post 229 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

^^^ yellows dont carry over, so no worry there

#656793Post 230 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

he needs to drop lampard and bring in a proper holding midfielder (carrick) lennon has to start the next game and drop cole and rooney and crouch need to be the front pairing but I wouldnt give rooney the full 90 mins until next round

I take it you?re not a Chelsea fan, then

I might agree with dropping Lampard, not because I think Gerrard is a better player, but because his morale should be high after scoring that goal. If you think about it, between Gerrard and Lampard, Gerrard is the one closest to a holding midfielder, so if you put in Carrick, Lampard would be the best option as his companion. Look at their pairings in their clubs : Gerrard plays with Alonso, while Lampard plays with Makelele, who is more defensive than Alonso.

But yeah, at this point in time it would be wiser to drop Lampard.

As for Cole, I totally disagree with dropping him, maybe it?s because I?m latin and Cole is the closest you have to a "latin-style" player, he?s creative and great on the last pass and one-on-one, ideally I?d love to see him pairing up with Rooney up front, falling behind him.

yeah thats why lampard should sit the next one out, coz if he got booked against sweden he'd miss the next round game

i hear the second goal is the goal of the tournament so far. alan hansen said "It was a masterclass in quality, balance, passing, control and finishing. If I see a better goal in the World Cup I'm going home."

got the game taping at home, cant wait to watch it, and especially that goal.

the goal was nice, but not the best in the cup IMO, but thats personal preference. The goalie had no chance on the 2nd goal. the quick passing is what made it so nice.
