shit i saw this too late...(the request for broadband link)
im sorry for purtugal... good game, didnt deserve to lose, that pk was bs...
Re: World Cup 2006
ronaldo was flopping around like a dying fish the entire match.
france for the win on sunday.
Re: World Cup 2006
Ok, it´s over, let me offer up my impressions :
It was a shitty game
Portugal deserved to lose, not because France played well, but because we played like shit
Even worse, we justified the opinions of those who called us a team of "divers". We DID dive a lot this time.
I think it´s only fair that Italy wins it now, they´ve proven themselves as the best team of the tournament.
The dream is over.

Re: World Cup 2006
Ok first off portugal shouldnt have dived so much but cmon i cant believe france are in the final! I really dont think they deserved to get this far but thats life and i really hope italy go for it on sunday.. :)
Re: World Cup 2006
really hope italy go for it on sunday.. :)
me too.. so in the USA we can go, "No one beat Italy, but we were the only team to who tied them so that means our team is awesome!"

Sorry for your loss. :( I hope our fans did not give Ronaldo a too hard time because of his diving action against Rooney in the quarter finals but dying swans need punishment. Our local commentator asked himself if Gravity is maybe higher in the penalty area of France.

Never said it in mylife but I will in this case :( because I have no chance , Lets go Luigi,Mario and company FORAZA ITALIA, lets get the escargots.
I know that this is wishful thinking because Zidane, Thuram and Mackelele are determind to get it.
Re: World Cup 2006
hard luck to portugal, they just didnt have any quality up front. Ill be cheering for Italy on sunday, France will need to up there game big time if they are to stand any chance
Re: World Cup 2006
that pk was bs...
So do you call nothing there? Henry's in the box, his leg gets raked and immediately as it happens, before the whistle mind you, Carvalho raises his hands knowing he took him down. You have to call that.... and for the record, Ronaldo's a twat.

Yes, Carvalho "rakes" his leg, his leg goes over Carvalho?s foot and then he dives to the floor. The only difference between that and Ronaldo?s dive inside the french box was the quality of the dive. Ronaldo still has a lot of practice to do to be that convincing. For the record, neither were reason for penalty, IMO.
Re: World Cup 2006
the penalty was a penalty, although henry still dived. that is, he got caught, almost stayed up, and then went down. still a penalty though, and the better team won.
i try to like portugal was was rooting for them to score at the end there, but it really is disappointing to see how much they dove, truly sad to see, especially ronaldo, and after he came on, postiga.
not sure who i think will win the final.
ze germans 3rd, portugal 4th... should be a good game though.

Yeah, if you read my 1st post after the game, I was quick to point out that we took too many dives.
And it?s stupid, too, because we will suffer in future competitions because of this, a bit like Italy has the same "fame" (I remember in the Italy-Germany game, Totti suffered a couple of legitimate fouls who weren?t called surely because of his reputation).
As for the 3rd/4th place game, i don?t care too much about it, although I believe the germans are worse, psychologically, than us, so that might be an influence, though they had more day to rest.
As for the final, ITALIA all the way, no fucking question, not only because of the French, but also because I feel some affinity to them.
Re: World Cup 2006
the pk was bs, but you are right you have to call it and 99 our of 100 refs would call it. but a dive is a dive. i feel sorry for the ports because i hate the soccer the french play, never liked it at all.
lets let the azzurri boys avenge their last minute loss in euro 2000 final!!!
guess nesta wont play the final either... :(
in the mean time, this is one of the reasons brazil lost to france... yeah i wasnt trying to argue or anything, just thought it was a shame, they are a talented team, and it wasnt all of them... ronaldo was the main culprit.

go italia.

Italy rocks the hiz house! I Love it Go Italia!
Re: World Cup 2006
Btw, Germany´s Lucas Podolski won the election for best young player of the World Cup.
I feel this is perfectly justified. It would have to be either him or Ronaldo, and Ronaldo ended in 2nd place, apparently because he scored lower in the fair-play criteria. That´s also understandable.
Finally, let me say how pathetic it was to see the british media calling out for votes for a player from Ecuador, on the internet election for young player.
In 50 years, no one will remember if Rooney was sent off because of Ronaldo´s wink (how anyone believes that is beyond me  ) or because he´s a stupid chimp, but everyone will remember that Ricardo saved 3 penalty kicks, something which no one had done so far.
EDIT : We also lead the vote for most entertaining team by far : http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/metr.html?cid=25

Same to you, man...this should be the real final. ;)
Re: World Cup 2006
Yeah the Divers against the Krauts in the finals would have rocked. :) There are a lot of portuguese people living in our country so I am sure this evening will be fun for both of us and a good party no matter who wins...it does not really count anything anyway so for me it is just Party time for the last time. If Bacalhau and Kraut would fit together, I'd eat it this evening.

I hope so dude. Hey, btw I bought a Mannschaft kit for my older kid 2 days ago, I should?ve taken a picture to post here but of course it?s already so dirty that we?ve had to wash it and it?s now drying in the sun.
If I remember correctly, we?ve beaten Germany in the same stadium (it was called Neckarstadion then, I believe) where today?s game is gonna take place, by 1-0 in 1986. Let?s see if history repeats itself.

^^ only real fans refer to useless statistic from 20 years ago. ;) BTW, yes you won 1:0 but it was only a qualification Game. :p
Re: World Cup 2006
^ ^ A win is a win, dude. WWII is over. :p
Re: World Cup 2006
Well, there you go, Germany 3, Portugal 1.
I guess the result is fair, Germany was more effective with the chances they had, like I always say, football is not figure skating, you don´t win by points or artistic merit. I guess as long as we don´t produce world-class strikers, we´ll never be world champions (and the only decent one we have, Nuno Gomes, is left in the bench... ).
Still, the goal difference is a bit exxagerated, and as for the refereeing..well, I´m sure the germans approved it.
Tomorrow there will be a huge reception, the airport will be closed down, and we will salute our heroes.:p
Re: World Cup 2006
Finally, let me say how pathetic it was to see the british media calling out for votes for a player from Ecuador, on the internet election for young player.
It wasn't the media, it was some guy who started an email. And while it's not exactly sporting, you can hardly argue Ronaldo was sporting - the guy is a cheat, plain and simple - what a fantastic player, but he needs to grow up and learn how to win properly.
We also lead the vote for most entertaining team by far : http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/metr.html?cid=25
Surely some mistake? A team who can hardly score a goal? Did anyone see Argentina? Now that was an entertaining team, let down by one stupid substitution. Or Germany? Can't believe it, but they have been great to watch.
I just hope tomorrow we have a great game - this tournament needs it, as it's been fairly poor in terms of entertainment since the knockout stage began.
Re: World Cup 2006
:partypeople:
I think it happened for the 1st time in our history that we are proud of the 3rd place..nobody regrets anything. It was just a great Championship and I hope for a good Final match today. I don't know how long international tv channels broadcasted what happened in the stadium after the Game was over but it was an amazing party and nobody wanted to leave. Today at 12 AM, our heros will arrive to celebrate in Berlin. :D We had the youngest team in the Cup (5 players in the team under 21 years), the best new talent (most votes for our player Podolski), the best scorer of the Cup will most probably be Miroslaw Klose (Henry needs to make 2 goals today to beat him) so the Future looks bright.
