I never liked fado, I like "pimba" music better ("pimba" means bam! wham! or thump!)

The 1st half yes, because the 2nd half was a snoozefest.

Italy has put one off the post just now!

EDIT : Make that 2!!!

#666171Post 617 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

Well, Germany nil, Italy 2...

I was actually guessing this was gonna happen since the start of the 2nd half...this was a perfect game for Italy, which always seems to try and put their opponents to sleep before shooting it´s poison. Germany played right into it.

And Italy´s coach actually showed more guts than Klinsmann when he put both Totty and Del Piero in the field along 2 pure strikers...so no one can accuse Italy of playing defensive.

Personally, if Portugal goes to the final, I´d rather play against Germany, we never do well against other latin teams (which is why I´m kinda afraid of our game tomorrow).

I´m sorry for TomTom, I´m sure he´s crushed right now :(

Re: World Cup 2006

The second OT was frantic... wow. Grosso's goal was pure and Pirlo's tap to set it up was brilliant. A great match all around (including the referee who did a fantastic job). Congrats to the Azzurri.

Re: World Cup 2006

Fantastic Game and Italy was the better Team so congrats for making it to the Finals. It is always bitter to get a goal in the last minutes of a match but they were better during most of the match and had the clearer chances. At least we can oder a Pizza now and the cook does not spit on it if he reads a German name.

#666295Post 625 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

It´s great that so many people want us to lose. That means we´re finally being taken seriously. Here´s something I wrote in another forum :
for year and years, portugal was called "the Brazil of Europe", because we played beautifully, lots of people said stuff like "if it wasn't for the fact that you actually have to score goals, Portugal would've been world champions by now".

So you see, maybe we're all tired of being "the nice guys who do pretty things" or saying "oh well, we lost again but at least we put on a show" . Maybe moral victories aren't enough anymore for us.

Right now, we want to win, we want it bad, and I'm the 1st to admit that not all of the things we did in the World Cup are something to be proud of, but what kind of a cop out is it to blame our players for Rooney's dumbness of the Dutch players' lack of experience? You actually believe Rooney was sent off only because of Ronaldo? Please...

Still, like I said before, if we lose to France, there will be no shame in defeat, we've already come further than we've ever dreamed of.
We´ve proven many times before that we can put on a nice show, but maybe that loss against Greece in Euro2004 has finally made us learn something. So you can root against us all you want, our team knows about it, we stopped caring, whatever happens next, they´ll be received like heroes when they return.

Re: World Cup 2006
so how do you think yous will do later kinetic?
We usually do bad against France. In fact, we have a history of losing semi-finals of important competitions to them. It happened in Euro1984 and in Euro2000.

That said, if there?s ever been a time when we?ve a had some possibilities, now?s that time. Still, I think it?s 60/40 in favour of France...:|

i also think it?s gonna be another tension-filled, agressive match, not as bad as the one against Holland, but similar.
