Re: World Cup 2006
That, my friends, was almost as tasty as winning the World Cup. It was a dirty but heroic victory, and we fuckin´ deserved it.
Now, I´m out for the celebrations.
^ wish u the very best of luck
for the match, of course :D
Re: World Cup 2006
Portugal v England - time for a bit of revenge. At least Deco can't play - while this will detract from the spectacle, we'll take any luck we can get !
Re: World Cup 2006
England proceeded to the next round thanks to yet another succesful standard situation yawn and the Game Portugal vs. Netherlands was pretty brutal...hope we don't need to see so many fouls and breaks in a Game in the Tournament again...nearly felt like watching (American) Football with all the pauses. :what I bet that referee had a massive headache when the Game was over lol.

But so was Beckham losing his lunch along the sidelines.

+1 We were a sack of shit from start to finish, it was like having a tooth pulled. The record will say we won 1-0 so that all that really should count.
We got the Portugues next who are going to be without Deco, Costinha and probaly Ronaldo thru injury. They should be without Figo too for his headbutting incident. Gonna be a tuff game but having them players missing is a slight bonus.
Re: World Cup 2006
MJ as u said Englands only saving grace is the face that those players are gone from portugals side.. tbf England were pants yesterday and i still think there going out in the next round. Boring match

TomTom, if you know about football (and I know you do), you?ll admit that the referee was by far the worse participant on that pitch. Even FIFA?s president said he had ruined the game (which is highly hypocritical if you consider that it was FIFA who gave orders for the refs to be this harsh...)
As for the England game, even without Deco, Costinha and eventually Ronaldo, we have good alternatives to build a team capable of beating England. Honestly, I can?t remember the last time an English team beat a Portuguese team (be it national squad or clubs), but this time the brits are out for revenge. Frankly, our team showed something which I hadn?t seen for a long a time in a Portugal national squad : a huge heart...so that makes me at least a bit optimistical.
Re: World Cup 2006
You are always going to get 1 game as intense with the red cards and fighting like the Protugal game. The worse part was that as Portugal was wasting time at the end, the Dutch still were fouling them. WTF? Play the GodDamn game and try to score.
O well, England needs to wake up if they think they are going to win.
Re: World Cup 2006
england v portugal will be a another tough competitive game but i fancy england as portugal are without key players. at least figo got the all clear for the head butt

That?s true. He should?ve been sent off, but in compensation that 2nd yellow card for Deco was ridiculous. The Portuguese FA is asking FIFA for both yellow cards he received to be revoked.
Btw, it?s kinda painful to know that I bought an England shirt in the beginning of the WC and now I won?t be able to use it anymore, at least until the end of the competition...

The referee was overcharged for sure and a few of the yellow cards came too early but in my opinion, almost every player begged for the red card. I did not see an alternative for the Referee not to show so many red cards. Some of the Fouls were (literally) below the belt und most more than unnecessary. If I was the coach of one of the teams, I would make some players pay penalty payments for the damage they caused to their national team because they did not have their feelings under control at all.
Re: World Cup 2006
It´s was a game with feeling , this means that they had played most of the time with the heart not with the head. So that was why tey had made so many falts. The portuguese team was so focus on the victory that forgot how to play. For us portuguese, it was a game that we will never forgett (like in euro 2004 with england). Now we have to think in the next game and play with the same honesty that we have play so far. Because the english team will play also to win.

not gonna happen... but unlucky for him. on the first one the dutch should have done the right thing and given it back to portugal who had kicked it out because of an injured player... i would have chopped the dirty fucker down too!

Yup, it?s not gonna happen, I guess they just want to make a stand...
BTW, there were only 25 fouls in the whole game, the portuguese only did 10, and got 9 yellow and 2 red cards for that!

Italy : Aus ESPN Feed... not sure if it works outside the US.

Re: World Cup 2006
Italy vs. Australia still 0:0
Re: World Cup 2006
HOLY CHRIST! What a break for Italy!
Re: World Cup 2006
go italy
Re: World Cup 2006
Absolute bullcrap referee. What does it take to get decent calls. Pity on Italy falling for a penalty when it clearly wasn't. Absolute crap.
Re: World Cup 2006
^ yeah and the same goes for the red card give to Materazzi... that wasnt even a yellow card, he touched the other italian player and the aussie fell like shit out of a cow's ass. same goes for gatusso's yellow.
the italians deserved to win, australia didnt show anything the second half and they had an extra man. and besides it would have been an absolute shame to see a semifinal with australia or switzerland or ukraine. Little teams do well only when big teams do shitty, and that would make for a shitty WC just like it was in 2002 (remember senegal - turkey, or so korea or usa?).
Forza Italia.

Yeah, really. They should both be eliminated, as punishment for playing so shitty in a World Cup match.
EDIT : Dude, is that Tiesto wearing a Dutch shirt in your avatar??? That make me giggle sadistically.

Yup.. typical European Match. Can't wait to see some fast pace Latin style play tomorrow.

I am sitting here thinking about suicide watching the swiss and ukrane match.. God its so boring..
In fairness though Algy i doubt this game is down to european football in general.. Cmon now my man 8)
Re: World Cup 2006
at least we got pks now, most exciting part of this game!
and yes this is tiesto :)
Re: World Cup 2006
For god´s sake, they´re shitty even when taking penalty kicks...
Re: World Cup 2006
lol, thats exactly what i wanted to post. the pks sucked too... the swiss just cant score... lol... fuck em, they deserve to leave!

Yeah.. sorry, it's not typical, but must agree that Latin style is much more thrilling and higher scoring.
BTW.. anyone have to sneak the games while at work?? This is what I have to resort to:

Re: World Cup 2006
shosh. i agree materazzi shouldnt have been sent off, but that doesnt justify or make it "even" to call a penalty with seconds left. Also, Italy dropped... hence, cheated. haha, you must be out of your mind if you think that. Even so, Australia dominated after the first 20 mins, even when Italy had a full side. So what you're saying is just rubbish. It has been proven throughout the entire competition Australia has been unfairly reffed... and this last match is no exception. Considering how "good" Italy are supposed to be, they played shit. Whilst I will not defend the fact Australia SHOULD have scored when Italy only had 10 men, that penalty is just wrong. You can't decline it.

^^ explain to me how he didn't trip over him. no legs involved nothing. shame on italy for cheating.
Australia didn't play shit, they dominated fool. And Italy aren't a "big" team anymore, As far as little teams going good when big teams go bad... again, bullshit. South Korea and Australia both did well because they have Guus Hiddink as coach. If you disagree, you tell that to any PSV fan.
Re: World Cup 2006
that was the biggest piece of crap penalty I have ever saw. That is so unfair to Australia. OMFG. Penalty? Bullshit. Italy was given a bullshit call and this ref must be Italian in some way, especially to call that at the last second. Fuck that. These refs suck. Fifa needs to do something because to call that at the last second of the game is pure bullshit. What a waste of my time to watch that shit.
For those who disagree, think of your team as being the team who lost this game. It would suck bad. God forbid if this happend to Argentina, I would fuckn kill someone. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: World Cup 2006
I am still pissed about the Italy game. Fuck Italy and the ref they rode in on.
The Swiss match was bad. I only watche the PKs and that sucked. Fuck. What a bad day for Socccer (football, futbol) today. Bad day. One thing to make it up will be Ghana in a great game against Brazil with Ghana winning.
Re: World Cup 2006
speciale... I hear ya brother.
Re: World Cup 2006
Yesterdays games sucked big times, agreed. Of course as I am addicted, I had to watch the silly game between Switzerland and the Ukraine till the end....I should have better smashed my head against a wall for 2 hours..this would have been more satisfying. Next horror game could be Italy vs. Ukraine. :Nerves:
Re: World Cup 2006
god it was like being at the dentist watching that game last night. painful
Re: World Cup 2006
I do want to be fair and say that the Italian red card was a mistake. That too was a bad call, but that giving the game away at the last second is wrong and Australia got fooked!!!
