any predictions on tonight then?

who is going out, the dutch or the germans?

i heard the czechs were going to rest a load of players for the next round. got to be bad news for the dutch.
I think even if they do rest a bunch of players, they CAN still beat Ze Germans. But I wouldnt be surprised if Latvia pulls a stunner and beats Holland. So my guess is the Dutch are out.
:Naughty:

Thanks to Heinz, Baros and the outstanding goalkeeper. Next: Sweden. Very difficult match I think.

I have to say that the final 8 teams deserve to be there, they play the high tempo that makes for exciting games.

I've been overwhelmed by Englands ability to score, we have about 8 players desperatly searching goals, and that has to be difficuly for the defence.

Shots on goal

England 64 Netherlands 57 Denmark 52 Sweden 52 Croatia 51

Come on England tonight!!

shame we'll have to knock out the host as they have been so hospitable.

its gonna be an excellent game especially if this fella gets on the end of a couple!!

really can not wait for the game tonight

Am I wrong or are you guys a bit over-confident?

It?s a shame we have to meet on the quarter finals. This really should be the final match.

Oh, well, good luck to the "steaks", but I hope to thrash you.

probably mate, we always doubt our ability to go all the way but there is an unbelievable atmosphere and belief this time mate.

Don't get me wrong the Portugal side is excellent and it will be a very closely battled game.

your weekness is your defence and so is ours with free kicks, as that is the only way we have conceded so far. There are bound to be loads of goals!!

dangermen - Rooney and Ronaldo

Jose Mourinho wants the winners of this game to win the tournament so may the best team win!

Yeah, it actually was our adaptation of that French name.

The thing is, all Brits are called that because you?re all very pale, and when you catch some sun, you turn all red.

There were actually a few news pieces about this on Portuguese TV today. There were also a lot of pieces about your beer-drinking

Beer drinking reaches copious levels during the championship in England.

Here we go into overtime, with the stupid silver goal...

Our players seem tired...they had to be the attacking side almost all the time.

I?ve smoked almost a whole pack...

IT?s STARTED!

Beckham sucks, sorry

#209214Post 180 of 387

HOLY COW!

1st, thanks to England for one of the most thrilling, downright epic games that I can remember!

2nd, I?ll say that one of the defining moments was Rooney?s injury. Who the hell is Vassell?

Maybe it would?ve been the same...we had the initiative most of the time, Owen scored a class goal, but squeeze the juice out of that and there was little left.

Individual highlights : Ricardo Carvalho, UEFA man of the match, I told you he was the best central defender in Europe right now John Terry, class in a glass, Deco...Chelsea are in for a treat, a true magician Ronaldo and Cole, an epic duel, both brilliant players.

And how amazing was our goalie, Ricardo? Stopping a penalty with bare hands and scoring one right after.

Ok, enough, I?m out! It?s insane out there, and I?m gonna join them!

#209223Post 181 of 387

Well one thing is for sure, we were the second best team out there. We just seemed to run out of steam in the second half and with Rooney going off we just had no ideas at all. How sad that we had to go out on penalties!

That goal should have stood though

#209226Post 182 of 387

fucking beckham. fucking swiss cunt referee..

fucking england

im not happy tonight

#209227Post 183 of 387

they should have a public hanging for beckham!! Bullshit!!

#209234Post 184 of 387
John Terry, class in a glass,
what the fuck are you talking about?

Terry and Beckham are among the worst players of the tournament. Where was Terry on the Postiga goal.

I could write a lot about Urs Meier. FUCKING HOMER. He did the same in South Korea. BUT we were outplayed on the whole despite showing incredible courage and spirit.

On the night you were the better side, by far. You outplayed us in all areas of the pitch. Well done and good luck with the rest of the competition. :Bingo:

Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell were immense, our best players of the tournament alongside Rooney. Our midfield were anonymous.

Penalties again...how typical for England. To think had Beckham put us 2-0 up against France (FROM THE PENALTY SPOT) in our opening game we would be playing Greece tomorrow. :|

Beckham has to leave his celeberity lifestyle and concentrate on FOOTBALL.

Campbell should have been hailed as our match winning hero, but for some unfathomable reason Urs Meier had different ideas.

I honestly believe that Terry held down that goalie, making it impossible for him to reach the ball.

Still was a brilliant match. You could just read the determination in Ricardo's eyes right before that last penalty. Victor Baia is all but forgotten methinks. Too bad either team had to go though.

#209240Post 186 of 387

C?mon, it?s not fair to be that harsh on Beckham.

Tell, me what?s worse : someone acting like Figo, who, when being substituted, pulls on an angry face, and goes to the showers without saying anything to anyone on the bench, and not coming out again to be with his teammates in a moment like this, like a spoilt child?

Or...

Someone like Becks, who even under all the pressure he has to go through, takes his chances and has the misfortune of missing a penalty, which was made worse due to a bad patch on the grass

???

When it comes to penalties, it's mostly a matter of luck...England just ran out of it at the end.

Can Portugal win the whole thing?!

#209501Post 198 of 387

OMG last night!

How awful was last night, we played pretty crap but i well thought we were gonna win when it went to penalties. I thought Ashley Cole was our man of the match, never gave ronaldo a kick all night, and thats coming from a spurs fan. Shame Ledley King's wife is unwell, he would have been much better in the midfield than Phil Neville. (Any England side with both Nevilles in is really down to the bare bones). Aw well, there's still 2006 to look forward to.
