Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

even if it was for 1 hour as you claim, you admit that you put it on your blog AFTER you spoke to Tom.

And what was your pretty little message on it voglemann ? didn't it say something like

"Silly Little Kids (inscribed above the MercuryServer was here text)" with "This graphic has been stolen from mercuryserver without permission and without asking the graphic designer or photographer" or some gibberish like that written in the footer?

We never "claim" to be the ones to make or break anyone, never have and never will. You hallucinate ideas only you are capable of justifying and it ticks me off when you express it in childish retaliation.
I don't need listeners like the ones from here and I give nothing on your "philosophy" here. YOU are not the ones who make ANY artist big, YOU are not the ones who promote, YOU are not the ones who support.
I wouldn't say this is true. Off the top of my head I know I never heard anything from Terry Lee Brown Jr or The Timewriter before I picked up some sets from these guys online via this site. Now I have tracked down about 5 of TLB's back Cafe mixes and at least two discs from The Timewriter.

I bought these legally, and I would say that this is supporting artists. If people ask me examples of the type of music I like and want an intro I would suggest something like this, and I know for sure that this is support and promotion.

I dont know if this thread should be closed before the flame war heats up much more and things just get worse overall....

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

^ i think his reference to making or breaking someone was related to my post. i never claimed that me, you, or [ms] is the main driving force making someone big, its everyone, the masses. and i also didnt refer to just djs or prog djs or even ingo, but to any and all artists in general.

he's retarded kamal. looks like this is a relationship (w/ frisky) that wont be salvaged, it sucks, but we'll live.

I think this is all a big misunderstanding and tomorrow-everything will get better :!: I hope you all will have good conversations with each other ...I Hope that everything will be ok soon ! OK , I'm drunk right now..

Peace !

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

Yeah, let's move on. There are so many great sets on MS already. It is nothing but bad PR for Frisky and for this Vogelmann pompous, self inflated, so called artist, it goes back to living in an era where people create as a career choice, good riddance to them both.

And why don't you need listeners like the one's from here? True we are not going to make any artist "big" but we are all in this music community together and word of mouth does spread pretty fast because if we are talking then we are promoting in some form and in that form we are supporting. I've been listening to electronic music in some form since the early 80's and started going to clubs around 1985. I've seen a lot of DJ's come and go and have even played with quite a few of the "Big" names way before they were "Big", and I can pretty much tell you that support is where it is at and with comments such as this they can harm you. Take Chris Fortier for instance, he's worked hard at his trade, no doubt about that and he's played at places that he didn't like (MARZ) but he was there every Saturday rolling out the tunes to people like me who would bring friends just to show them that this guy was talented and knew he was going places. In turn those friends would bring other friends and so forth and so on. It's true that it takes a lot of hard work to get noticed and I can respect that (really I can), but it's also true that the "little people" that make their way to the clubs to see "Big" names are there because of some form of support. They had to hear your stuff somehow, either by stumbling into your set from a message board such as this and reading the comments that other individuals have left. Or they have a friend who recommended a set that you did. Once again this comes back to supporting you the artist, so in hindsight do you really want to make a statement such as this? You can call me an old washed up DJ if you would like, that's fine with me. But it's statements such as this that give other DJ's the break they need because people don't like the comments you just made. I for one will be sure to pass up something with your name on it.

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

now mr.ingo are you fool or are you playing the fool?? well mr.ingo i'll tell you something mate.if you dont want to have your music shared(and im not saying stolen because its not) just stay in your bedroom and have a mix there.imo when you play your set on an online radio station,im sorry mate but youre a fool to beleive that people will not share it afterwards.and if you think that sharing music is not support for the artists go and ask a bigger name.you might learn something from him. i dont think anyone shared a set here on anywhere else, he put his own name on it or changed the place it was made or the date or whatever you might think! get over it! i would like to see what you would say if after your sets nobody wanted them. that would be a problem. but having fans appreciating the music expecting like xmas the next show and sharing the sets straight away because they are so happy with the mix and impatient at the same time, while giving proper credit to the artist, the location, the show, the date, even saying below the title "what a fn great set from x" ,then not only its not a problem but its a f*n dream for every artist!! appreciation is the key. and true fans know when to appreciate and when to throw in the bin!!

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

Only Frisky will loose from all this "fight" against sets sharing. As long as frisky is an internet radio, the sets will be all over the internet and they cant stop this. If i have something and i want to share it, ill do it.

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

Wow, only just read these recent developments because Gatz has up and left.

Let's try an outside view here.

Seems like this drama was triggered because file sharers fail to credit their sources. Surely that is a fair complaint. The flip side is, WE ALL KNOW WHERE THE SHOWS ARE FROM ANYWAY! We're a forum of crazy music fanatics, so while I get Frisky's point about crediting sources, which I think is fair, it's not like we need to be told Destinations is from Frisky Radio, etc.

So wtf is this Ingo dude, does he run Frisky Radio? I'm confused as to why he's suddenly involved in this nonsense.

Which is exactly what this is. [ms] and Frisy Radio has been around, and I thought you guys have a pretty good symbiotic relationship, come on we love Frisky Radio shows! So all this petty bickering is stupid and embarrassing to you, and who suffers? The real music fans. Why? Because of 'ownership' and a perceived slight when a set's source isn't credited properly.

I hope you realise it's all in your head guys. You choose to be stamp or enforce this 'ownership' which is really only relevant to you. To us, it's just good music to be heard. And like I said, every single frequenter on this board or in the P&R section knows Frisky Radio and knows where these sets are coming from. So you're just bickering over perceptions here.

And I agree that if we're sharing sets, the least we can do is credit the source. Most of us make it a point--when sharing found sets on here--to credit the person who ripped and shared the sets, I know I do 'cos I hardly rip on my own. So I don't see what the big deal is if Frisky Radio wants to be credited as the broadcaster or original source of the show.

Don't be a Tenaglia!

He has every right to request credit for the sets as far as I am concerned. He just went about it such a tactless childish way. Zero respect.

#1040984Post 97 of 141

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

mate, do a search for the word "frisky" in this forum and tell me how and where credit was not given. Each set is clearly marked with the name of the station AND the DJ.

#1040987Post 98 of 141

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

So it's just blown out of proportion then. Maybe TT didn't realise the kinda repercusions when he said it's easier to not share Frisky sets than to retroactively check and label all of them.

Come on you big sissies, just kiss and make up already. There is no benefit to be had from protracting this, but all the harm in the world.

How about we offer Dhar up as a sacrificial? You can turn him into a latex-coated curry peace offering ;)

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

Damn, my show on frisky had just barely ended when I received mails from fans telling me that the sets were already posted on forums around the net.... :what

Wow how fast that was!!!

#1041033Post 100 of 141

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

things move fast when you broadcast direct to digital. there's no way around that. the upside is i can hear a set from my favourite dj when he was in china last night when im at my desk the next morning. the other side is if you dont want your work spread around, well thats pretty much impossible to stop which sucks.

Somebody better make sure they're properly tagged and labelled then ;) Actually, this should be Google's job! After all Google's search engines will know first when all these sets show up!

I wasn't saying we were doing anything wrong...lol...just that he can ask for he wants...but hes farting into the breeze as far as I am concerned.

I mean, I ask my wife for "credit" just about every night and seldom do I get it. :)

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

You know what? Disputes can arise, and miscommunications will occur -- that is inevitable. The critical thing is how you react when that happens. You can either contact the powers that be and try to work out the problem in an adult fashion, or you can post a bunch of disparaging nonsense on your blog. Or, you can pretend to have worked it out in an adult fashion and post a bunch of disparaging nonsense on your blog anyway, which to me is just puzzling. I just don't understand.

The paradoxical thing here is that the EDM community is both big enough that this won't have a big impact on us, the listeners, yet small enough that it could have a negative impact for this vogelmann dude. That sort of negative vibe is antithetical to what the whole EDM thing is about.

Oh well. Life goes on.
no my comment wasnt to you, was to feather and about fairness in giving frisky credit.
Sorry about that, I thought this thing was originally triggered due to a lack of credit and I only read what Frisky said about TT's decision to not share Frisky Radio sets rather than retroactively label them. But so they're all properly credited now, what's the big deal man.

#1041250Post 109 of 141

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

TT had nothing to do with it, this decision was mine.

Some of us just have to learn everything the hard way. Guess we just met another person like that. It can make for a difficult time in life though - take it from someone who knows...

I always thought posting noncopyrighted sets with the name of the artist & radio station in the set, already was the courtesy. I always thought a forum like this (without corporate sponsors) was kinda like PBS or NPR where like it or not, you could post, chat or talk about anything that wasn't already legally protected. Is there something I am not understanding about the term & status of noncopyrighted sets ????

When you begin to allow artists/radio stations to start bullying the site :x and dictating conditions for posts of noncopyrighted sets (and saying it was just our idea to do that - c'mon now!), you have opened a whole pandora's box of trouble. Would seem to signal the beginning of the end for [ms] (I certainly hope not).

[ms] & friskyRadio should have a synergy/positive impact on each other - like the past five years. To me this situation is just the opposite - what a pity.

wtf?

Re: VERY IMPORTANT: New Rule for posting Sets - NO FRISKY SETS ALLOWED

well...I have to give my 2 cents on this...I its a big pitty that money gets in the way of everything...I mean music like this has been and should keep on being free. This community deserves the great music it enjoys to be free of charge. Im sure there are Dj's out there that dont mind their sessions distributed for free. This is sad. w/e

i just dont understand what all this fuss is about. im only being here on [ms} since '07 but this site was here longer before me. so id like to ask something the older members.. imagine how many sets are stored here through the threads. imagine how many djs! 100s?? did any of these djs who's sets are here available for download and they are truly the BIGGEST NAMES in EDM, ever complained about a set they did, that it was either leaked too early or it was mislabeled?
just wondering...

yeah some have complained when a set leaked and asked that it was removed, but that was only when the set was recorded without their prior knowledge. eventually all these sets popped up everywhere (see digweed's beirut set). you cant stop or fight the internet

different type of music altogether, but is anyone familiar with the time metallica tried to take action against digital downloads? in short, it lost them so much popularity it wasn't funny and they now openly acknoledge it was a BIG mistake on their behalf. Fair enough, Frisky wants to sell membership. But they should have done it with a much more reasonable approach. Silly, silly... we'll see how your station is going in 6 months... if it's still on air!
