This sucks. They use sites like MS to get the brand out there and then pull the plug AND make the ruling retroactive !!:evil: I hope th Djs that have shows realise it will probably have a backlash for them as well.:evil:

i think the $10 just gives you the right to download from FriskyRadio any set you want even if it was aired a month ago and get the tracklistings too.correct me if im wrong.

so this is what i thought,as there is a window in this new rule which says only the artist who did the set can share it if he wants!!

we just need to make one account for each dj we want his sets and then post through his account the link for the set!!this way we dont break any f***n rule!!! :D

For the record:

It was not I that asked MS to stop sharing all friskyRadio sets on this site. The decision to stop allowing sharing of friskyRadio material was made by MS to me, to which I agreed. There is a HUGE difference between the two.

Why? Lets look at the facts:

I have enjoyed a good working relationship with Kamal, Tom and Dominic @ MS over the years and therefore allowed sharing of friskyRadio sets openly without question. A few weeks ago I kindly asked Tom to please make a rule that to share sets from any radio station (note I did not ask frisky, but all!) they should be properly credited. Only fair. I asked that for each set shared a link to friskyRadio.com be added to the thread to give proper credit. Tom and I agreed on this and all was well with the world.

I then checked a few shared links and I didnt notice any links to friskyRadio.com, even though the rule clearly stated on the site that these rules should be met and any infringement will result in that member getting banned. I sent some links to Tom alerting him of that breach of the rule to which Tom got upset and simply stated that he can not police each and every link shared on the site and that he will just make an announcement to stop sharing all friskyRadio sets.

Those are the facts. I am more than willing to share the email conversation that I had with Tom here on this forum for all to see. But I am sure Tom will not deny anything here because I know him to be a stand-up guy of integrity.

Also: It is not true that I wish people to stop sharing all sets because of the subscription model on the site. Quite the opposite. When have you EVER seen me post about the subscription here or on any other web site? When have you seen huge banner ads on EDM sites promoting the subscription service? I simply do not shove it down people's throats and do not promote it as a service - a decision that Ive made on principle. I only promote it locally, on the frisky site and to the frisky community. The subscription model is for anyone that wants to support the site and help me pay my bills. When have you ever heard an audio ad thats not related to the friskyRadio site on the stream? If I really wanted to make money, I would start selling Pepsi ads on the stream! That will not happen ever. In many ways, I have been somewhat of a victim of frisky's success as Ive seen my hosting, bandwidth and streaming costs rise exponentially since it started growing like mad about 2 years ago. Since 2001 - I have paid for friskyRadio out of my OWN pocket and from our loyal member's generous donations. Thus I had to find a way to subsidize the costs, and help take a load of my shoulders and still ensure frisky's continued existence, because I simply can not live without frisky. I satrted frisky for myself and still to this day, run it first and foremost for myself.. I know its cliche but I LOVE doing this. Anyways, I dont feel like I have the need nor the energy to explain myself...

This will be one and only post on this matter. We all have other things to worry about in this world than to bicker about this crap, but I wanted to set the record straight.

friskyRadio stream is and will always will be FREE and I will continue to work hard and make sure all the frisky artists get the promotions they deserve. Please respect the hard work that I put on the site. Enjoy it, but please dont abuse it.

as for the above comment below, I respectfully disagree since, as I mentioned in my PM to you, we have never had back and forth with ANY radio station (internet or otherwise) about how "credit" should be given. As far as my memory goes, no one from etn.fm, kiss 100, metrodance, Proton, or any other station have contacted us in the past about giving credit to the radio station/dj.

I was involved in any of those (email-)discussions and can only say that Faisal is right about the content of those discussions. And - BTW - it represents my own opinion on that issue to 100%.

Please, do not forget: Written words never replace a real conversation between 2 people (like the phone talk I personally had with Tom), so things can be misunderstood.

It's NOT all black or white, and also not on this issue. You all might think about that.

I personally have no intentions to throw hate around, but please, allow me to go mad here and there. I think I have that right. Like you have.

At the end of the day a proper communication and intentions are the key to everything.

I personally keep on respecting Tom for his straight and open communication with me.

I don't need listeners like the ones from here and I give nothing on your "philosophy" here. YOU are not the ones who make ANY artist big, YOU are not the ones who promote, YOU are not the ones who support.

This is my final post here. I have much more important things to do. At least respect that this is MY opinion, not the one of Faisal nor friskyRadio with its staff, thousands of listeners, supporters and true fans.

I love doing my work for them and with them. You don't have an idea what that means.
