Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

Wikileaks is going to post another video this time in Afghanistan.

Something is up with this. Who is releasing these videos and why? Why now? I mean these things don't just pop out of the military. They are coming out for a reason.

#1360531Post 82 of 180

Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

a lot of the solders fighting are just as unhappy of what is going on and why the us is involved over there as most of the rest of the world, thus releasing vids like this will help erode support for the war.

#1360559Post 83 of 180

Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

personally I don't need to watch this to know what's going on over there. I have a best friend that came back with mental issues.

#1360625Post 84 of 180

Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

^^Exactly. Not that I condone the killing of innocent civilians, but one must understand the mindset of U.S. Soldiers and/or Marines.. They are fighting to survive. The mindset is just that.

This is something that us "civilians" will never understand unless we were ever in their position.

These soldiers have a job to do, and they do it pretty damn well...

Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

^^^ You don't have to defend them, the fact that they can do the things in this video speaks to how damaged they are. The war is a crime against them as well !
a lot of the solders fighting are just as unhappy of what is going on and why the us is involved over there as most of the rest of the world, thus releasing vids like this will help erode support for the war.
I'm sort of proud the Wikileaks guy is an Aussie. !

Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

I always hated that word "civilians." It makes you sound weak and helpless. We are "citizens."

Civilians is just an army propaganda word.

A civilian under international humanitarian law is a person who is not a member of his or her country's armed forces. The term is also often used colloquially to refer to people who are not members of a particular profession or occupation, especially by law enforcement agencies, which often use rank structures similar to those of military units.

These solders are not fighting to survive, they do a tough job so its OK to execute some people Its is just a cop out, would you apply the same principal to the mindset of pedophile who had been abused as a kid. I bet people on the ground will be struggling to survive a lot more than any the solders. So they where apparently fired upon earlier in the day. So after a hard day of been fired upon you would think they would be happy that things on the ground had quieted down. Instead they decided to shoot some people in the back. This is not good work and this is not the only case. If this was one marine on the ground on his own he wouldn’t have dared open fire on a crowd of people without provocation.

What army sends you home when you disobey orders and forgoes the court martial and jail/brig time?

#1361311Post 98 of 180

Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

then I would go to the brig before I sold my soul to the Devil. You see we always have choices. I think it is quite apparent that you and Reso would go in the house and hose them down. Then you would come home from duty and after spending time with your family and realize what you did you would blow your head off. Many coming home are doing this.. It is the trend.

This false nobility does not compute. The scenario you're presenting is pretty absurd to begin with.

Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

It's ok I am learning that people don't like answers to problems. They prefer the riddle and mystery of things. Some call it the Fog or being black and white. The reality is that Cui Bono and you will always find who did it. People prefer to attack the answer to the problem with ridicule and laughter. It's ok soon I will be vindicated. Things aren't getting better they are about to get much worse. And when they get worse, much worse, people on this server will say "DAMN HE WAS RIGHT."

wow, you need to calm the fuck down. you never heard of a soldier sayiing, " i was told to shoot whatever moves?" there's lots of video of soldiers saying to shoot first ask questions later. did you not see the last incident where the pregnant ladieS was killed? what surprises me is that you guys type this as something new. this shit happens all the time!!!

back on the subject: The U.S. investigation into the attack found that the helicopter gunship's crew mistook the journalists' cameras for weapons while seeking out insurgents who had been firing at American troops in the area.

they had been fired upon by similar looking "civilians" all day up to that point. also, they found aks and rpgs with the dead.
You'd most likely be court martialed, go to the brig and probably end up in Leavenworth, tried as being a deserter in war time which your time in the Federal Pen wouldn't exactly be a lot of fun basically labeled as a traitor. You'd definitely be dishonourably discharged losing any benefits from your time in the service, lose all your pay, lose your civil rights, and oh, good luck getting a job

this may seem extreme, but it's for sure possible, IF you even made it back to the states (or whatever country you came from) before being "taken care of"

but a lot of what people are arguing here is extreme anyway right?

until any of you are in a helicopter in a foreign land fighting for your life and country against an enemy you can't even recognise until it's too late, fuck off with your holier than thou views and opinions

Guess you’re not familiar with the case of Vic Williams. Solders also had to live in these conditions for years under the threat of the IRA. This you aren’t there it just a cop out for justifying murder. Fighting for their lives! What a joke. I know if I was there I wouldn’t be gunning down people in the back. I know if I had the opportunity I would have leaked that video to. You don't want people posting opinions but you seem to have no problem with some psychopath playing judge jury and executioner. Just because someone isn’t in the military and has an opinion on this it doesn’t mean they are some sort of coward like you seem to insinuate.

Yes, it very much does insinuate you are a coward. You really don't have any justification to criticize any military personnel other than those involved in these incidents. Events like this do not happen everyday. A lot of soldiers are put in difficult positions while they are away and some make mistakes while others feel they did the right thing. At the end of the day, you better believe it weighs heavily on their conscious; some change for the better, some change for the worse, some might not even change and become apathetic. The last thing they need is some piss-ant behind a computer pretending to know what's going on over there; as if you have more insight than anybody else.

Between being shit scared by shadow governments, big conspiracy theories about big pharm making your kids retarded, and your insatiable appetite for butchering the English language with nonstop grammatical and spelling errors, I'd say you have very little room to be criticizing anyone other than yourself and the helicopter pilots.

Please RM, as if you're the purveyor of ultimate truth; like you know what's going on within the political and financial underworld. You criticize everybody and you fight tooth and nail pretending to know the actual truth. Well, you don't. You just masquerade around thinking you're some sort of erudite spanning every facet of experience and education. All you are is another mind mixed in with the other billions of lost minds. Do yourself a favor and go hang out with your kid. It seems like you spend more time being a conspiracy theorist, and less time being a father.

But Localizer you commit the same crime you are accusing me of. You to are hiding behind your computer posting pretending you know me. You have also justified what I posted in my other post by calling me a coward. Yes these soldiers are in difficult situations but that doesn’t excuse this sort of behavior. If this had happened in the US you would all be singing to a different tune? I suppose this event was a more extreme version of the Rodney King incident.

Had my message been posted without me butchering the English language would it of justified my views in your opinion? I think not! You mite want to check your own spelling as well. I don’t think I have posted anything either indicating that I am shit scared of shadow governments. So I would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of where I did. You mite also want to note that I stood and spoke out at work when 4000 other people wouldn’t when my employer tried to make us work in conditions that where completely unacceptable, alienating about 1500 people I work with and see every day. I also helped expose another employer on national TV for violence in the work place. So you don’t need to worry about me hiding behind my PC

This whole coward insinuation/comment is actually quite amusing it’s become the typical knee jerk reaction against anyone who questions the military. No different than people who brand people who question 9/11 as holocaust deniers

Re: Video-US Apache helicopter killing civilians and journalists

Local the suicide rate of veterans proves that you are wrong that these things don't happen all the time. Your vets come home and kill themselves because they can't handle that they sold their soul. They can't believe what they have done. The MSM make it sound like they have some illness coming home from war. I don't think it is responsible to just look the other way on the facts, and the facts are that the veteran suicide rate is unacceptable.

Also I can sit behind my computer and do what I can to help the troops. And by help I mean get them get home.
