thats all you keep saying but you never make a fuckin valid point. oh wait you did. you got butthurt about my obama jokes and threatened to b& me and changed my user title.
God I'm so tired of this whole discussion but I'd almost take a few to bash the crap out of most your points if it weren't for the fact that we clearly have completely different values in our lives. Terrorism? I hate to break this you, but I think expanding political and military presence all over the planet to secure your own economical interests isn't exactly kosher either. Get the fuck out while you still can. There's no winning there, and the list of reasons why is enough to write a while bloody research master thesis on. Mostly political and economical. i disagree. we need to do exactly what we did with japan and germany. take over the country, not half-ass it like we do now. but because of fear of what other countries might say we have to give them control. they dont know what to do with it. look how well germany and japan turned out! o'rly? it could have been avoided by doing shit and letting them do whatever they want? right

Nope, it could've been avoided by having less intrusive foreign politics. Bin Laden is a product of the US meddling in Afghanistan and other conflicts in the Middle-East (Iran, '79?). The Great Game the US played against the USSR during the cold war has spawned quite some grievances against the US. Russia is having -to a lesser extent though- the same problem. The repercussions of using other countries and people as tool to fight a control war indirectly.

exactly. we dont need more than we have now. but at the same time we dont need less either. as far as obama's patriotism, thats debatable. but again that makes me a redneck!

Not a redneck per se Shosh, but the amount your govt spends on the military is insane. If the US isn't about undertaking expeditions such as the one in Iraq right now, you sure as hell don't have the need for an army as big as you have now. So yes, you could easily do with less if the US would just stay out of other countries.

Take over? And then? I've made this point before and will make it again: look at Africa dude...implanting your political system (and as a result your cultural values) doesn't work. IT DOESN'T WORK. Need I repeat that? Any changes you want to be lasting ones, need to be changes that have grown within the minds of people, a slow but veritable reprogramming. This takes generations, not a few years. Fuck, it took us about 2000 years, even more, to get to the point where 'democracy' is truly embedded in our culture, minds, being. Don't expect the rest of the planet to do it in less than one generation, that would be a foolish mistake.

That is why Iraq qon't work.

end your own life but others shouldnt do that for you. as far as abortion goes, we can debate this for years.

You should be free to get the means to end your life, and if you're phisically unable to do so, get help in doing it. I think it's inhumane to make someone suffer if you have the means to fulfill someone's dying wish. Abortion: I don't like it, don't advocate the industrialization of it. But sometimes it's the preferrable option, depending on the situation.

If arms are to be removed, the first place the govt should look is with criminals, but if you remove the possibility of acquiring arms alltogether, it will become harder for gangs or perps to get their hands on that stuff. It's a simple fact that if there's no weapon within reach, you cannot use it, and most people actually get stabbed or shot with their own weapon.

However, i do recognize that this is a major cultural difference -the right to posession of arms is not something that came from nowhere but is a result of the fact that in older times people simply had the need to defend themselves from all kinds of threats. But society has changed a lot since then, you're not colonizing the continent anymore, so it is a law that might be reconsidered.

Religions are totalitarian. You cannot have a true democracy if you let religion get too much influence in politics. There will be a shift from discourse to imposition. It's happening in my country right now, contrary to what you believe mate. I am fucking disgusted by my government right now, because Christian politicians are pushing their agenda and trying to take away all the rights and freedoms we've fought so hard for.

 • will keep bush tax cuts

ok, but not to disfavor the well-to-do as obama intends

I agree mostly with that, but if you have to choose where to place the burden, it's not ethical to choke someone that's already having a hard time. If you make 250 k a year you may not like higher taxes on your income, but it's gonna go a long way before you end up eating plain pasta with cheese and ketchup for weeks on end. What is half a month's salary to one, may just be a peanut to the other.

socialized medicine will mean increase in taxes and decrease of quality of care. the us has the best doctors in the world, best clinics, hospitals, etc. add socialized medicine and it all goes down the drain. less michael moore more logic

I hate Michael Moore. But where did you get the idea that socialized medicine per default means decrease in quality of care? Even without Fatty Moore it's easy to see that the market is killing the quality of health care (not the medicine or level of education as such!). You have great doctors and clinics, but what's the benefit to the economy if only half of the population can afford it? Or a higher percentage than necessary ends up disabled, being a burden on the economy?

Our govt has partially taken over the US system of health care insurance, and I've worked for one such company for about a year. Had to tell someone she wasn't insured for a cancer treatment because she couldn not afford it. If that is capitalized health care, then please keep it away from me.

I reckon that 1) Obama will not seriously be able to give direct benefits to the black (one strategy might be affirmative action though) and 2) it's about friggin time black people (especially in the south) work their way up into the middle class. Because right now they predominantly form the American lower class. Is that how it's supposed to be then? I think what Obama rather means to do is not disfavour you or other white middle class americans, but rather restoring the balance and diminishing the correlation between race/ethnicity and socio-economic position or status.

If you believe capitalism is a win-win system, then you shouldn't be afraid of other groups in your society acquiring the same standard of living you have.

 1. i don't get mad at conversations on the internet.

 2. i made vaild points long before you found the political forum, and i still do, but i don't need, or want, to rehash anything for you. I don't want you to take offense or anything about it, there are just too many fundamental things about the way you view the world that are vastly different from mine, and arguing these political points with such a fundamental different base is like running into a brick wall, from both sides, it's just not going to work. It's just not worth it when we're coming from such different places.

 3. i didn't get butt hurt about you being racist. there is no place for blatantly racist jokes in here, or anywhere. drop the n-bomb all you want in public dude, kinda wish you would, but not on MS- gee sorry if i took offense to you dropping the n-bomb. this isn't 1876 dude, get a grip.

 4. i can't change custom titles. it's funny tho. it's obviously chapping your ass, so hey, pick whatever you want and i'll see if someone can change it.

is there anything else on your mind shosh?

Switch to proportional representation, you won't have to choose between only 2 people...

Anyway, I'm done with this discussion. Shosh, we just disagree too much to convince each other of our own point of view here, so let's start talking about beer & hot chicks next time we get dragged into a discussion like this :D

you are aware of how much the US gives a shit about Europe, aren't you?

Europeans have a very strong record of cheering on, electing, and praising "good" leaders. Every country has been there numerous times so that doesnt mean shit. So to trust the euros with asserting who the right candidate is, is like trusting josef fritzl with his own daughter... oh wait

can we all jsut admit that we are fucked no matter who wins. the only thing obama has is that he is not GW' party. no real other qualifying factors around him. mccain is like giving gw a 3rd term.

both full of shit. both bad choices. but both better than hillary.

comon people can we just stop. no matter who wins it will have serious negative consequences here and abroad. if mccain wins, the world still hates us, ok fuck you too. if obama wins, our country gets even worse to deal with internally. no matter what the guys liek toasty tell me, the split will destroy us. people will cheer for awhile, but after a week, we will see a polarization worse than we ever imagined. talk brass tax here, call a spade a spade. obama, a black man, who half the country thinks is a muslim, with zero experience and party line stance equal to his former party nemisis. oh yeah, thats gonna sit well with 90% of small business and the market, and the fucking assholes who are already plotting his asassination...

either of those are inevitable. live with it. im looking at homes in toronto if obama wins, and fucking nuke shelters if mccain wins.

both full of shit. both bad choices. but both better than hillary.

im sorry, but no matter how hard anyone pitches obama, i cant even consider him a positive factor for the history of our country. and this isnt saying im for mccain, i wrote him off long ago, he isnt even a factor in my mind.

both full of shit. both bad choices. but both better than hillary.

and jenks, overrated in that people present him to be something new, and he isnt. the only new thing about him is his age. other than that. he has a history of being a part of the problem we have faced since clinton;s second term... (houses voting against the sitting admin and getting zero done for the country.)

Re: Obama in Europe
can we all jsut admit that we are fucked no matter who wins. the only thing obama has is that he is not GW' party. no real other qualifying factors around him. mccain is like giving gw a 3rd term.

both full of shit. both bad choices. but both better than hillary.

comon people can we just stop. no matter who wins it will have serious negative consequences here and abroad. if mccain wins, the world still hates us, ok fuck you too. if obama wins, our country gets even worse to deal with internally. no matter what the guys liek toasty tell me, the split will destroy us. people will cheer for awhile, but after a week, we will see a polarization worse than we ever imagined. talk brass tax here, call a spade a spade. obama, a black man, who half the country thinks is a muslim, with zero experience and party line stance equal to his former party nemisis. oh yeah, thats gonna sit well with 90% of small business and the market, and the fucking assholes who are already plotting his asassination...

either of those are inevitable. live with it. im looking at homes in toronto if obama wins, and fucking nuke shelters if mccain wins.

both full of shit. both bad choices. but both better than hillary.

both full of shit. both bad choices. but both better than hillary.

im sorry, but no matter how hard anyone pitches obama, i cant even consider him a positive factor for the history of our country. and this isnt saying im for mccain, i wrote him off long ago, he isnt even a factor in my mind.

both full of shit. both bad choices. but both better than hillary.

and jenks, overrated in that people present him to be something new, and he isnt. the only new thing about him is his age. other than that. he has a history of being a part of the problem we have faced since clinton;s second term... (houses voting against the sitting admin and getting zero done for the country.)
sightless: i agree with you 100% that both mccain and obama are full of shit; but unfortunately we are stuck with one of those 2 douchebags, no matter how hard barr tries. however my stance is that with mccain at least i agree with a couple of the things he wants to do, or should i say i'm not against everything obama wants to do. just like you said, i see obama as a great danger to our country at least internally, and although germany might give him the ocasional bj the rest of the world isnt going to do shit for us. what happens inside is what matters most. thats why im so against obama.

yeah yeah, why dont i vote for barr then... because unfortunately he doesnt have a chance, because the media controls the population so effectively that it doesnt matter what a candidate can bring to our country, people are going to follow as the media dictates and the sad truth is that barr, just like ron paul, is treated as the outcast.

cheers

(also I like to provoke people a bit, thats why i also attach asshole-ish pics to my post)

Boy, did you miss the message in my post...I wasn't even giving an opinion, but just pointing out the Obama tactic there.

That second image is so typical: am I to understand that McCain is a better leader because he has fought in the army? What is it with conservative Americans and their goddamn army fetish? Wouldn't you rather have a president that tries to understand the machinations behind the behaviour of other people/countries, so he can deal with them more effectively to the benefit of the US? (I'm not saying that that would be Obama, it could be someone else).

Or are you saying that Obama cannot be a real American because of his background? Because that would be rather short-sighted, given the basis of your society (the melting pot...)

Re: Obama in Europe

shosh, the difference between me and you is this

both wrong.

i think obama is better than mccain. but only in the sense of a lessor of two evils.

you have the opposite feelings.

anyways, i made it clear im a barr voter unless he somehow comes out of the closet admitting something atrocious.

nah Yao I just liked the picture. i do think obama's muslim past/background whatever might have some influence on the decisions he would make, but i wouldnt necessarily vouch for that; and we cant really say he is christian because he flushed his church and pastors down the toilet when it didnt favor his campaign anymore, conclusion - i dont really know. i think the picture reflects something a bit deeper, which is the accusations towards obama of being unpatriotic in contrast with mccain who was ready to give his life for this country.

Re: Obama in Europe

the difference between shosh and sightless is: it's not just that you hold different views, sean's viewpoint is actually his own, fking looney? yes imo, but at least he's original. shosh regurgitates the talking points and propaganda and really doesn't know anything about McCain, other than what the machine shoves down his throat, and that he doesn't like Obama. And ya know, fair enough for not liking Obama, even if I think it's a misguided view, that's your right and that's your vote- cool.

But you don't even have a clue who you're really voting for in McCain, Shosh. Patriot my ass. Do some research on your boy- i'm not saying read what Rush says about him, or what some bullet point list you got in your email says- read about him, check his voting record. I'm fairly certain any logical person wouldn't think McCain is so rosey. Then again, logic is lost on a lot of people. Your arguments are so adolescent, and it's giving me a headache, which i know is your intent- congrats it worked, but it's really all you have, sad. Post more nazi pictures and communist propaganda, you're really hitting an important point and winning the public over with your fascinating arguments.

I don't think Obama is the Messiah, but i know for a fact that McCain is a hell of a lot more of the lousy fucking same. I'll take my chances with a leader, regardless of this "experience" you're supposed to have to be President. Hey Bush had tons of this so called "experience"...sweet huh? Real nice shape we're in.
what happens inside is what matters most. thats why im so against obama.
im sorry but that is the lamest excuse i have ever heard. McCain is pretty much Bush the 3rd.

McCain of 2000 had really good views, i would vote for him... but, like Jenks said, check his voting record the past 8 years and see where is has flipped and flopped and come back and tell me what you think of him.

I loved it how he sold out his own patriotism in order to gain support from the ultra-conservatives. he was a POW and tortured when he was younger... any LOGICAL person would not want that to happen to anyone else but he voted for torture... again to gain more support in order to further himself.

If you care so much about what happens inside the United States of America, you would not vote for another Bush (McCain).

I agree with Jenks, shosh, u need to get it off the fox news channel and do some of your own research.
dude, thats what this country is full of... most people have no clue what obama stands for, and they just vote for him because hes young or black or stupid. look at black vote... you really want to tell me that all those black people know what obama stands for? hell no, they just vote for him cause hes black. hell most of them probably cant read but they think he is going to help them out, which he said he was going to do. as for the rest, its the stupid new wave of thought of our generation, degrading all of our values and everything it used to stand for.
Even if your unflattering generalization of black Americans was accurate, does this not possibly work the other way as well?? I mean, since you introduced the race factor here, let's continue with this a bit...

Let's take you, for example. You're a far right-wing white guy. There are many people like you in this country, and who's to say that all of them, whenever faced with a differing choice, aren't always just going to automatically vote for the white guy cause he's white?

Do all those people really necessarily know what McCain stands for?

i think it is safe to assume that at least 60% of the voting people in the USA dont follow politics and only vote their party lines... which they get from their parents. that is what i think anyway...

Re: Obama in Europe

Well, this doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I just wanted to point out that while you fellas were sitting here arguing about Obama, I was actually at a picnic shelter in Union, MO having a burger with the dude. ;)

OK, so we weren't exactly sitting at the same table, but it was cool to get a chance to interact with him a bit. I've seen him a number of times before, always amongst a massive crowd -- this was far and away the most intimate setting of the times I've seen him in person. 200 people -- much less than the 25,000 last time.

Alright, sightless, feel free to go back to your unfathomable cynicism.

Shosh, renew your Rush-regurgitation.

Carry on.

if you bother to read back the reason i made the generalization was because of that made towards rural america. now your assumptions of me are pretty wrong. i dont dislike obama because hes black, hell i wish colin powell (sp) would run for pres, i think he would be awesome. but lets continue the race discussion... you really want to tell me that 87% of all blacks really agree with obama or just vote for him because of the race factor? sit down

Obama is a democrat. Go look back at African-American voting patterns over the last 20 years and see if you notice a correlation. A large, large percentage of black voters tend to vote democrat -- and why wouldn't they? What in the world does the GOP offer if you're black? Bush didn't even bother to address the NAACP for 6 years during his presidency. What better way to say, you know, I really don't care about the issues that affect you.

Re: Obama in Europe

flame me well, but his speech in berlin was powerful. better than our past prezidantz by far. i consider myself to be a moderate, but i cant stress enough how much i revere the guy --for his ability to walk the walk in terms of principles and integrity. i mean common yall, lets be frank, his level of potency, striving and thinking for the sake of the greater whole, common and general good... fosters a defense mechinism of intrepidating invulerability, and it towers over the haters.. --hate stems from jellousy and envy. likewise, the attacks aimed at him from the multimyriads of his appointed enemies simply form a bulwark around his 'perimiter' and when the time comes he will send only one trushot and devistate his enemies' slander etc. the man is on fire. and all the more power to him. i may not agree with his concrete policies, but what he stands for, and how he conducts himself, is the mark of a true man. furthermore, i really like what he meant with his leaked prayer as well, and he better not forgoe what he wrote or i will be pisst. he represents the call and vigour of the future. maclame will merely hand over the 'baton.' im not sure which of the 3 canidates i will vote for, but the crunch time towards election will be intense --free and decisive choices will be made. forreal.

i wish him the best of wishes, and i hope he continues to mnmlize his fumbles and partyfouls like a true masta. word.
