Re: sad day in america, does anyone think the govt played a part???
haha!

i'd like to call this response the 'i have internet access and i am now an expert' phenomenon. i base my beliefs in common sense. huge fucking airplanes hitting buildings causing them to fall down? yes. many minions scurrying around buildings for days hiding invisible bombs spy vs spy style without anyone knowing and no evidence to the contrary? no.

thanks internet for making a lot of home schooled idiots automatic experts!
You just empowered what I said. Sure, you have a certain belief about what happened and everybody else is foolish. That's fair enough. One thing you can't refute is the psychology I spoke of. Which is based on pure fact, something your 'common sense' approach to life would surely understand.

If you can argue the issue without sounding like a pumped up 'America Fuck Yeah' airhead, then go ahead. I'd doubt very much you can. You claim to know, without any shadow of a doubt what happened. People on the other side of the fence do not. That's why questions are asked. Nobody is denying planes flew into the building. The motives, the precise elements of the operation carried out and the people involved are under scrutiny. If you say you use common sense then use it. Denial is the only emotion on show here, nothing to the contrary. I'm sure your common sense must be itching at the sight of WTC7 free falling to the ground or for the first time in human history a structure defying the very physics that helped it stand upright in the first place?

One quick choice, which is it? A fully loaded plane carrying its max payload of fuel slamming into a building and causing the collapse in near free fall because of the massive damage and trauma to the foundations OR a building that collapses in the exact same manor because of some small fires spread out over a few floors? You can't have both, for obvious common sense reasons.

Re: sad day in america, does anyone think the govt played a part???
The reason Resonator is coming off as arrogant, pompous and small minded is as clear as the sky is blue. He's an American.

Americans have a belief and value system that's bred into them from an early age. Any challenge to this belief system ie: Our Government protects us, they keep us safe, America is the good guy etc etc, causes cognitive dissonance. When this happens fear and anxiety take hold which in turn, help kick in the minds psychological defenses. The most primitive psychological defense is, denial. Its easier to deny everything and move on with your life.

If resonator was a sincere and open-minded person he would study the evidence available but he chooses not to. His mind just wont let him. He's not at fault for this. What he is at fault for is taking on the stereotypical American personality of someone who shouts down people who have genuine questions about 9/11, refusal to believe anything other than the "official" story and general pig headedness. He probably truly believes the FBI found one of the hijackers passports 3 blocks from WTC. This would make his statement about the force of the impact, the massive fireball that ensued and the amount of chaos implied seem counterintuitive to the FBIs finding don't you think?

We all have beliefs and ideas don't we? It just seems rather childish and uneducated to challenge people in a way that makes them out to be idiots, especially if they don't share your prophetic wisdom. One of the main reasons 9/11 was such a success for whoever carried it out is because people like Resonator will always be there to continue the lie, albeit, out of good intentions.
Yes you have described res0 down to a T. Only you can't blame it on him being American, many Americans don't believe the official story either. Like I said before he will run around shouting common sense and logic but there wont be any of it in his posts.

Re: sad day in america, does anyone think the govt played a part???
not sure what that has to do with anything though.
One of the most obvious photoshops of our time is still held up as proof that these 4 guys were even together at any stage that day. No footage exists on any other cctv cameras anywhere in London (the cctv capital of the universe) of them and the official story maintains they met up and caught the 7.40 into London, a train that didn't run that day.

Yet, still this bollocks is accepted as truth. NickMcDuff mentioned there about the passports found near the twin towers that survived the whole thing, that really is fucking amazing. Can the Saudi authorities get in touch with people in the uk and tell them how they make them so tough. Mine fell apart on the edge of a swimming pool on holiday once and cost me £80 to replace, i'd happily pay a little more for one of these Saudi ones.

After the London bombings there was a similar confirmation of the bombers' id, only someone planted the same id at 2 sites, which was maybe a little amateurish but hey ho.

Initial TV reports of "terrorists" being gunned down in Canary Wharf are now lost forever as if they never existed, but i fucking watched it for myself.

These jihadis from suburban Yorkshire then seemed to ditch their homemade fertiliser bombs and climbed under moving trains with military grade explosives at some point ? I don't know how else the blasts came up through the train floors, really i don't.

Examples, I think, of people accepting information from official sources while it clearly doesn't add up.

You may not think it relevant Reso, fair enough. I think the parallels are clear.

9/11 conspiracy theories

It may be 10 years since the attacks in the US on 11 September, but conspiracy theories have not faded over time, says Mike Rudin. Numerous official reports have been published since the Twin Towers fell, but just when a piece of evidence casts doubt on one theory, the focus then shifts to the next "unanswered question". Here are five of the most prominent 9/11 conspiracy theories circulating in online communities. 1. Failure to intercept the hijacked planes

The question: Why did the world's most powerful air force fail to intercept any of the four hijacked planes? Conspiracy theorists say: The then US Vice President Dick Cheney ordered the military to stand down and not to intercept the planes.

Official reports say: This was a highly unusual multiple hijacking with violence on board, and where the transponder, which identifies the plane, was turned off or changed. What is more, a routine military training exercise happened to be taking place that day at US air defence command. Air traffic controller Colin Scoggins was in constant contact with the military and did not see any lack of response. There was confusion and a lack of communication between the civilian air traffic control (FAA) and the military. The military's equipment was also outdated and designed to look out over the ocean to deal with a Cold War threat. 2. Collapse of the Twin Towers

The question: Why did the Twin Towers collapse so quickly, within their own footprint, after fires on a few floors that lasted only for an hour or two? Conspiracy theorists say: The Twin Towers were destroyed by controlled demolitions. Theories relate to the rapid collapse (about 10 seconds), the relatively short-lived fires (56 minutes in World Trade Center 2 or 102 minutes in World Trade Center 1), reports of the sounds of explosions shortly before the collapse, and the violent ejections that could be seen at some windows many floors below the collapse. Five new skyscrapers are being built on the World Trade Center site Official reports say: An extensive inquiry by the National Institute of Standards and Technology concluded that the planes severed and damaged support columns and dislodged fire-proofing. Around 10,000 gallons of jet fuel were spewed over many floors starting widespread fires. Temperatures of up to 1,000C caused the floors to sag and the perimeter columns to bend, causing the sounds of "explosions". The massive weight of the floors dropped, creating a dynamic load far in excess of what the columns were designed for. Debris was forced out of the windows as the floors above collapsed. Controlled demolition is nearly always carried out from the bottom floors up, yet this collapse started at the top. No evidence has ever been found of explosive charges despite the extensive hand searches and there is no evidence of any pre-cutting of columns or walls, which is routinely carried out in a controlled demolition. 3. Attack on the Pentagon

The question: How could an amateur pilot fly a commercial plane in a complicated manoeuvre and crash it into the headquarters of the world's most powerful military, 78 minutes after the first report of a possible hijack and leave no trace? Conspiracy theorists say: A commercial Boeing 757 did not hit the building but instead a missile, a small aircraft or an unmanned drone was used. But since evidence has increasingly shown that the American Airlines Flight 77 did hit the building, the emphasis has shifted to questioning the difficult approach manoeuvre. It is argued it was not under the control of al-Qaeda but the Pentagon itself. Official reports say: Airplane wreckage, including the black boxes, were recovered from the scene and they were catalogued by the FBI. Although some early video did not show much wreckage, there is a good deal of video and still photography which shows plane wreckage and evidence of the flight path, such as broken lamp posts. The remains of crew and passengers on the plane were found and positively identified by DNA. Witnesses also saw the plane strike the Pentagon. 4. The fourth plane - United Airlines flight 93

The question: Why was the crash site at Shanksville, Pennsylvania, so small and why was the aircraft debris not visible? Conspiracy theorists argue: United Airlines flight 93 was shot down by a missile and disintegrated in mid air, scattering the wreckage over a large area. Official reports say: There are clear photographs showing aircraft wreckage and the cockpit voice recorder, which showed there had been a passenger revolt and the hijackers had deliberately crashed the plane. Initial theories that heavy debris was scattered many miles from the main crash site turned out to be false. In fact the wind had blown light debris such as paper and insulation just over a mile. Another theory was based on a misquote from the local coroner, Wally Miller, who said he stopped being a coroner after about 20 minutes because there were no bodies. What he also said was that he quickly realised it was a plane crash and there would have to be a large funeral service for the many victims. In addition, the military never gave orders to the air force to shoot the commercial airliner down. 5. Collapse of World Trade Center Building 7

The question: How could a skyscraper, which was not hit by a plane, collapse so quickly and symmetrically, when no other steel-framed skyscraper has collapsed because of fire? Conspiracy theorists say: The World Trade Center Building 7 was destroyed by a controlled demolition using both explosives and incendiaries. Initially the focus was on the phrase "pull it" used by the owner, Larry Silverstein, in a TV interview. But in fact he was talking about pulling firefighters back. (Demolition experts do not use the term "pull it" as slang for setting off explosives.) Now the focus has shifted to the speed of the collapse which reached near free fall for 2.25 seconds. It is argued only explosives could make it collapse so quickly and symmetrically. Some scientists, who are sceptical of the official account, have examined four dust samples from Ground Zero and claim to have found thermitic material which reacts violently when heated up. They claim tonnes of thermite and conventional explosives were rigged inside, not just WTC7, but also the Twin Towers. Continue reading the main storyFind out more

The Conspiracy Files: 9/11 - Ten Years On will be broadcast on Monday 29 August 2011 at 21:00 BST on BBC Two
Official reports say: A three-yearinvestigation by the National Institute of Standards and Technology concluded that the building collapsed because of uncontrolled fires, started by the collapse of the nearby North Tower, and which burnt for seven hours. The mains water feeding the emergency sprinkler system was severed. No evidence has ever been found of explosive charges and there are no recordings of a series of very loud explosions that would have been expected with controlled demolition. Furthermore, there is an alternative explanation for the "thermitic material" the sceptical scientists found in the dust - it is just a type of primer paint. It's calculated 1,200,000 tonnes of building materials were pulverised at the World Trade Center and most minerals are present in the dust (not necessarily in a large quantity). More extensive sampling of the dust has not found any evidence of thermite or explosives, says a report from the US Geological Survey and another from RJ Lee.

I'd like for someone who thinks 9/11 was an inside job to answer this question then. How many thousands of people would have had to be involved in something with the size and scope of 9/11 for it to have been kept a secret?

I find it hard to believ 911 was an inside job, but i find the official story hard to believe too. I don't necessarily think it would have took thousands of people to cover it up, but it still would have had to be one hell of a cover up job.

So i'm very much a skeptic, remaining open minded i'd like to think, which is the only way when we know so little.

I asked the question in the astonishing thread "how do you know who was flying those planes on impact"? - it wasn't a question trying to be clever or a wind up or anything like that, it's a genuine question - and, i think, a very good example of accepted information which, in reality, none of us are in a position to accept.

People, consciously or not, string together pieces of information and fill in the gaps themselves as a way of making sense of things, fair enough.

As for the London bombings, i really don't believe a fuckin jot of the official story on that one, not that i class myself as any kind of conspiracy theorist. By definition, the official story is the conspiracy.

Remember too John that the trade centre was hit 4 years before the London bombings, in very different political circumstances. So, maybe if there is a difference in attitudes slightly either side of the pond that's to be expected. There was very little appetite in the UK for war at that time, and if people had been told the truth about the war's justification theere would have been far less.

Ever hear of Jean Claude De Menezes? Fuck me if there weren't some lies thrown around about that poor guy in an attempted cover up. This suspicious looking middle-eastern man made his way into a tube station in london wearing a thick coat, possibly concealing explosives, he jumped the barriers, he ran down the stairs, he threatened to detonate, all fucking bullshit.

He was a Brazilian electrician who bought a ticket and went through the turnstyle same as everyone else, in his t-shirt, unarmed.

He was then murdered by police officers, do you not think they would have stuck with the cover up story if they could have got away with it? I do.

Re: sad day in america, does anyone think the govt played a part???
Interesting to see how peoples so called beliefs on what happened on 9/11 have evolved since the "you know what's astonishing" thread.
You mean like yours that went from "you know what i find astonishing, to I don't know anyone outside MS who believes 9/11 was an inside job"
haha!

i'd like to call this response the 'i have internet access and i am now an expert' phenomenon. i base my beliefs in common sense. huge fucking airplanes hitting buildings causing them to fall down? yes. many minions scurrying around buildings for days hiding invisible bombs spy vs spy style without anyone knowing and no evidence to the contrary? no.

thanks internet for making a lot of home schooled idiots automatic experts!
