Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Exceeded the hype. Seeing this on IMAX is a must, some of the scenes will almost make you fall out of your seat.

Joker is indescribable, one of the few times a movie character has made me feel literally uneasy. The way he walks, he talks, licks his lips, delivers some of the lines - it'll make your stomach squirm.

And his "magic trick" at the beginning of the movie...

Bottom line - see this movie as soon as you possibly can. Then go see it again.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

saw this under 35k watts here in tempe.

Joker - phenomenal. Heath Ledger did such a dam good job that you couldn't even tell Heath was the joker. Evil, completely evil he was.

I was expecting a little more out of Two-Face and hopefully the ending isn't the 'end'.

The previews we got to see were of Terminator, Watchmen, the Mummy, and some other movie.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

This movie is a classic. Heath Ledger absolutely knocked it out of the park. No wonder playing the role fucked with his head and inadvertently killed him.

I just got in from seeing this and it was effing amazing!

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Best movie I ever saw. The whole second half is like one big chase sequence that keeps going on and on. Ledger's performance exceeds the hype. 11/10

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

damn not a single negative comment. Im going seeing it tomorrow

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

I just saw it a second time. This film is an absolute masterpiece, and I don't throw that term around lightly. Heath Ledger's Joker is the first character in any movie that has legitimately left me terrified and had chills running down my spine. Even now I get chills thinking about it. Forget any taboo the Academy has with "superhero" movies, this movie and Ledger's performance in particular transcends boundaries and deserves the appropriate accolades. The rest of the cast was spot on as well. The Harvey Dent story is just as captivating as the Joker's is disturbing.

Box office yield is usually not an indicator of a film's quality, but in this case it most assuredly is. A stunning epic.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Just got back and thought it was a great movie. I'd give it 9/10.

Heath Ledger was great as the Joker and I can see everyone agrees. Too bad he passed away as it would have been great to see him in that role again. I don't see how anyone can follow up that performance.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

saw it today, just an awesome movie... will hopefully be seeing it again soon.

7 freakin previews before the movie... was quite overkill imo.

only negatives: the batman voice was kind of annoying... there were a couple of times where i had to really pay attention to hear what he was saying.

the girl in it was ugly as sin... reminded me of Sloth from the goonies. major let down from katie holmes.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

^^^^she wasnt nearly as easy on the eyes but was a huge upgrade as far as acting goes.....

Does anyone know if Nolan is planning on continuing his version of the Batman series?

#1051970Post 97 of 142

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

I would love it if he did. It's such a shame that it won't be with Heath Ledger though.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

OMFG :shock::shock:

Kevin Smith wasn't kidding when he said this was the Godfather of comic book movies. I tried to downplay the expectations after reading all the reveiws here, but Heath Ledger really did steal the movie.

It's like Bale showing his intense fucked up psycho Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins, Ledger showed the casual craziness of the Joker but made it look so disturbingly normal. Ledger didn't make the Joker wide-eyed psycho crazy but more like hapless twitchy dont-know-when-he'll-bite crazy  Never pictured the Joker like that but Ledger made it so 'right.' That scene when he walked out of the hospital in that nurse uniform  Man Ledger did for the Joker what Frank Miller did for Batman.

Bale (and the Batman's voice sucked) kinda just faded into the background in this film, it's all about Joker and Harvey Dent.

Either I'm delusional or Nolan just brought this superhero shit to a whole new level (and I think there was a mix of the Dark Knight, No Man's Land, and maybe the Killing Joke in the movie). He made it believable, none of the flashy glossed candy Spiderman crap. You really think it's normal for some guy to run off the building in a bat suit and glide in the air like a bat

Think Nolan should leave this and not do another one, this instalment is too epic. And with the Joker 'gone,' I can't imagine another villain to give the same intense storyline. Maybe Two-Face.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

just got back. that pencil trick has got to be my favorite movie moment of the year. heath's performance was fn ace

#1052013Post 102 of 142

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

just got back...what a film. heath ledger left the world too early...can only imagine what his career would have had in store. truly an oscar-worthy performance, and from the hype he may just get it.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

fking awesome movie. not much to say about it that hasn't been said, except that i love maggie gilenhall. agreed that batman's voice this time was a little much, but it didn't take away from the movie. think i'm going to go see it again on imax this week.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Heath Ledger's performance is undoubtedly amazing. Dead or not. But without him, the movie would be quite ordinary

#1053275Post 110 of 142

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

True but without him, they'd have developed another villain or concentrated on the Two-Face story so I wouldn't go as far as to say the movie would've been ordinary without Joker.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

maybe a tad too long and some dialogs where too long but an ace movie. one of the best I saw this year

#1053658Post 112 of 142

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Yeah I was surprised at the length and the heavy dialogs in some parts, but it helps add to the epic feel ... probably why Kevin Smith described it as the Godfather of comic book films.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Saw it again tonight. Did anyone notice the score/soundtrack? Seldom hear a score that works so well with a movie, really adds to the epic feel of the film.

And Gary Oldman rocks too. He delivered his monologues much more naturally than the rest (excepting Heath Ledger who's still amazing the second time).

But Batman's voice still sucks.

#1053984Post 114 of 142

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Saw it for a second time today, what a great film.

Also caught a possible hint towards who we may see in Batman 3. After Lucius reworks the batsuit in the beginning Batman asks "Will it protect against dogs?"

Fox replies, "Maybe against cats"

hmmmmm......

#1053991Post 115 of 142

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Yeah I caught that as well, Catwoman was what came to mind.

bane?.... that guy on the boat, the biggest one... it come to my mind...

also i want to see a diff villian always the same......but as long some good damn looking chic do it, i have no probs

#1054354Post 117 of 142

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Was the guy on the boat Bane?! The prisoner who threw away the detonator?? If they're gonna have Bane in pt 3, the movie will have to be a 2-parter ... the Knightfall saga was pretty long 'cos Bane broke Batman's back so Batman had to retire to heal but he set someone else up as a replacement Batman; that guy went nuts and eventually Batman had to reign his replacement in and go after Bane.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Saw this on Sunday and thought it was immense. Agree on everything said about Ledger - his performance is one of the best of all time. If he doesn't get the Oscar then Hollywood can expect a serious backlash IMO.

The only things I would say lightly spoil the movie are:

  • it's a tad too long
  • it's made so well and so believable that you forget you are watching a comic book film - so when you see Dent's burns it kind of makes you realise that it is only a comic book
  • Batman's voice is horrific
