Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

ok im going to see this at the imax and cant wait but all i keep saying on loads of sites is how bad the batman voice is.

question if its so bad why did the esteemed director that nolan let it go out that way?

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

^ | i only found it bad in a few scenes near the end when he talks for an extended period of time. other than that, it was fine.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

I think it's 'true' to the comics because he's suppose to deepen and make his voice more gruff when he's Batman. I'm sure previous Bruce Waynes sounded different as Batman too, but this was probably a bit over the top.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

what a superb film

saw it at the imax and all i can say is wow 2 and a half hours flew by and even sitting 1 row from the front (bloody stiff neck today) it was amazing. the sound and screen in them places are superb.

going back in a weeks time and going to arrive early so can at least try and get in the middle!

ledger was immense and eckhart was good to and the shock death wow i didnt see that coming.

the voice is a wee bit annoying particulary towards the end but easy 9/10 for me great performances by the old stagers freeman and caine as well.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Joker's performance was way overhyped IMO, Jack Nicholson did a better job.

I totally agree with you. I actually thought the movie on the whole was really overhyped. It was good, I enjoyed it, but it was overhyped.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Johnny Depp is rumored to be in talks to play the Riddler in the third 'Batman,' and Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman may sign on as the Penguin, dishes Perez Hilton. As long as we keep Robin out of the picture, we're all for it. (Aug. 1)

Director Christopher Nolan took the helm as director of the new Batman franchise with the 2005 film Batman Begins. In The Gotham Times, a viral marketing website promoting the 2008 film The Dark Knight, Edward Nashton, an alias of The Riddler, is credited for a letter to the editor titled "Dent Cannot Be Believed" in Issue 2 page 2. Although Anthony Michael Hall was rumored to be playing the Riddler, he actually played a reporter named Mike Engel. While doing press for The Dark Knight, Gary Oldman alluded that the Riddler could be the villain in the proposed third film.[5] Doctor Who actor David Tennant has recently expressed an interest in playing the role.[6]

what about that folks?

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

I'm a little torn between Depp playing the Riddler (which I would love to see) and having a different villain altogether who hasn't been in any of the previous Batman movies.

Huh? You joking? How is Nicholson's Joker better than Ledger? What are you comparing?

I like Nicholson's Joker for its time. The makeup, the maniacal grin, the over-the-top flamboyance is very much like the original Joker.

But Ledger's Joker was actually based on production sketches by one of the comic artists, and IMO this Joker took the character to a whole new level, like how Miller reinvented Batman.

This is the Joker for the 21st century, I think it reflects all the crazy shit that's happening in the world right now. If you took all that terrorist shit, that paranoia shit, and the people on anti-depressants and rolled them all into one character, Ledger's Joker would be it. And if you read Arkham Asylum, you'll actually see some of Ledger's Joker in there.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Yeah this is a return to the more Frank Miller style in the last two movies. Not all Batman is cheezy and campy like the original tv series.

Just check out this comic for info:

Saw this at last - awesome, and I have to say that Ledger was mesmerising as The Joker.

Now i'll have to go back a couple of times to take it all in !

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight

Yeah we queued up over an hour cos there's no allocated seating, and once the movie starts, you can't wade through the sold-out cinema for the toilet.
