Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album
damn I guess you get punished if you order the CD package instead of downloading it digitally. I am kind of pissed now that i ordered the cd.

At the end of the minimix for cd 3 John says if you order digitally you get all the mixed cd's plus all 44 tracks unmixed from all 3 cd's

if you order the cd you only get the 10 trax from cd3. what a bunch of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seems a bit unfair if you bought the cd you get shorted 34 unmixed trax.
Unmixed tracks from ALL 3 CDs? Including CD 2 which is a live mix—isn't that kinda unlikely??

#1516277Post 82 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

no its true, listen to Digs at the end of the CD3 minimix. "42trax plus the two full length mixes"

I would never have bought the cd if I would have known this in advance. I feel a bit ripped off buying the cd It clearly makes no sense to do that if your going to get 34 extra trax by buying it digitally.

They've all had to be licensed anyway. It was the same deal with the last Structures live-mix.

Chuck, some of us buy all three formats...

#1516330Post 84 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

yeah i am just going to have to buy the digital format also. just seems silly to buy the cd...i guess i am an idot for not realizing this in advance.

#1516335Post 85 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Well... Wouldn't go that far but the digital releases have included all tracks since Bedrock 10...

Ooops, no they haven't. Bedrock 10 and 11 missed a couple. But they both had about 95 % of the tracks full lenght, unmixed + the mixed versions for a tenner.

How are you getting ripped off ... surely people that get CD's want them in that format? In my case I like having the signed package with cover art etc. and a CD I can play on my home sound system and the car.

I don't Dj, so unmixed isn't as important as the other CD's (although I'll like having the tracks) - if I did DJ I would have gone for WAV's or the vinyl package rather than CD's because I can't play CDs 1 & 2 out.

#1516348Post 87 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

do u really have to ask that?? hmm lets see......

pay 25 dollars for 2 mixed sets 10 tracks and some cover art or pay less then 25 dollars for 2 mixed sets 44 tracks no cover art

Its a rip off if you buy the cd becasue your being shorted 34 unmixed tracks. At a $1.50 a track this is around a $51 dollar value that people that bought the cd are missing out on.

I learned my lesson, last time i will ever buy a CD in advance.

#1516358Post 88 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Fair enough .. I always thought that people buying CD's wanted them in that format.

Some of the digital tracks are stems for people that DJ to use in their mix for a competition.

#1516441Post 89 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

The cds are not a rip off, the digital is just incredibly cheap. But only a bargain if you are going to use them as a Dj . Would be pretty useless to me. I'm very much a CD person signed or unsigned  Once again, what is the bit rate .??

#1516446Post 90 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

NOT to sound like a dick, but what's the big deal about spending an extra $25... most of the people here are well in their 30's and most of us have "borrowed" $25 worth of music and or computer programs at one point in our lives. Just saying.

#1516462Post 91 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

I'm probably going to get both CD and digital formats, because (1) I'm a huge Digweed fan and I want the signed CD, and (2) I'm a bedroom DJ and want the unmixed tracks. And yes, admittedly I am well into my 30's...

Another great interview here :

John Digweed on His Favorite Twilo Memory, Vinyl Snobbery and Why He Still Loves New York

One of the biggest names in electronic music played New York unannounced last Thursday when John Digweed took control of Provocateur for a secret show. Though known globally as a festival and megaclub staple and the man (with longtime collaborator Sasha) behind the first ever D.J. mix compilation, "Renaissance" he's most fondly remembered locally for his legendary run behind the decks of the city's last great club.

Digweed's monthly residency with fellow Brit Sasha at Twilo dovetailed with the brief incursion of underground European dance music into the American mainstream. What the New York Times called the city's "most mammoth dance party" lasted five years, through Twilo's closing in 2001, routinely drawing 4,000 heads from up and down the eastern seaboard for "barely controlled mayhem" over 10-hour sets. Last month marked the 10th anniversary of Twilo's closing, a passing Digweed calls the moment the "heart of clubland in America got ripped out."

Still, the progressive house spinner remains one of the few true superstar D.J.s in this neck of the woods, and is encouraged by a resurgence of dance music and club culture in New York. He played District 36 last month and will co-anchor September's Electric Zoo festival on Randall's Island. The new club and fledgling festival both prove that New Yorkers crave the beats and are willing to invest in proper homes for them. The Feast met with Digweed hours before his Provocateur show for his take on the current scene and his refusal to be a vinyl snob.

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

I don't think Digweed should do ambient mixes, his talent is wasted on them. Checked out 15 mins of CD 1 and turned it off. Not to say it's shit or the tracks are bad, but did not feel the Digweedness in the mix.

CD 2 took a while to take off but midway into it, 28 mins, wicked bassline, stomping shit. Would've been awesome to hear that come in on the speakers in a club.

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

really digging the new mixed kiss show!!! no need for a mix on the cd::)

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

wow disagree 100% with feather. may want to give it a full listen b4 you make such comments. not sure how u can judge a cd by listening to 15 min out of 75

I was very happy that digweed decieded to do a downtempo cd. although it was not the birlliant masterpiece that hernan put together on parralel, it was still very good and enjoyed it tremendously. around the 40 min mark is some of the trippiest music i have heard in a while. loved it!

also want to say i was presently surprised to see that my CD was in my mail box yesterday on release day. Props to the bedrock team for sending the orders out early so they would arrive to the states on time.

#1517131Post 98 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Well I did say the first 15 mins put me to sleep hence my comment but no doubt I'll give it a proper listen.

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Ha ha ha after praising HMV in the Saiz thread for always getting cd's to me on time, I got an e-mail from them at the weekend saying due to a supplier stock error they wont have it for me on release date, so I'll have to wait. Nevermind!

#1517156Post 102 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

the thing about the mixed and unmixed is really disappointing, i was planning on buying the vinyl but now i'm going to have to get the digital so i can have the tracks unmixed...

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Copy & paste from my post in Bedrock:

CD 1: Loved it. I still need to have a proper listen with headphones, preferably in a car when someone else is driving. CD 2: Liked it, might have to listen to it a bit louder to really appreciate it. Might not be something that works at neighbor-friendly volume. CD 3: A really great selection of tracks. Looking forward to playing a few of these out during the summer.

#1517159Post 104 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Yeah and if you order it digitally you get Both mixes, and 42 trax all for only 20 dollars on beatport....That is a steal of a deal. Diggers sure knows how to put some incredible packages together.

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Absolutely love CD 1 ... had it playing loud yesterday, think the artists have done great with the remixes, the music really breathes and is all over the sound system in the room. The mix really takes you on an undulating journey - like bobbing up & down on the sea on an air bed (visuals needed from Hoff).

One for a sunny morning to ease you into the day !

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Got the CD today and I have to say nobody who bought it got screwed. The audio quality is superior to the Beatport-mp3.

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

I'm really not enjoying this release compared to all the other Digweed releases in the past and I'm a huge Digweed fan. :p

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

the extra samples from beatport are nothing special but still fun to play with.

just wish digweed would tell us which planet he is from not in this galaxy though.

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

^^ lol, he is very extraterrestrial...

i think im gonna wait a bit more to buy this, im really still caught up with some other releases and henry saiz balance is next on the list, and some of the reviews here are not very comforting especially that they come from hard fans, but i know i'll still buy it..

p.s. i find the things that i dont really like at first are the ones that end up being my favs...maybe its a new level of comprehending

Do you like downtempo/chill out music? If not really I totally understand how you wouldnt like the release because the live mix was not that special imo.

But I cant get enough of CD1. The trax on CD3 are pretty decent too....overall 2 out of 3 is a winning package for me!!

#1517604Post 116 of 151

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

Yeah I'm indifferent to downtempo or chill, I have the genres and they're elevator music to me so I shan't opine on CD1 anymore!

Overall there was no vortex moment, or any moment per se, when listening to Structures Two. All I've been listening to is Balance and Structures and I keep waiting for the usual 'holy fuck digweeeeeeeeeed' moment I get on his mixes and it never came.

And I love Digweed man, so it pains me to feel this way about Structures Two  I keep listening to it waiting for it to hit me

On the other hand I've quite enjoyed Balance, the music on it felt fresh.

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

The live mix is nothing special at all. Suprised he thoguht it was worthy of a release.

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

listened to the live mix on the drive to munich to attend the rebel rave. Sounds great on as loud as the stereo can do it

Re: Digweed Structures Part Two - Album

I really like the first cd, some interesting new versions and other known. as i said before, the first cd reminded me in some point to "Layered Sound 2" I like this ambient side of Digweed. The second cd is not bad but it's like any other cd. The recording of the crowd is a resource already used by Oakenfold in "Resident 2 years at Cream" dont like too much I really enjoy the first half but the second does not feel some tracks like they're in the wrong place, But is still a good album, with great tracks and good moments.

I´ll keep listening, of course.
