Re: Global Underground #39 Dave Seaman
Dave Seaman needs no introduction to the GU faithful, having previous mixed 3 classic outings for us from 3 different continents. He now adds a European string to his bow, presenting GU039 from one of Eastern Europe's hottest party destinations; the party resort of Palanga on the golden shores of the Baltic Sea, Lithuania. Yes, we know technically it's not a 'City' but Lithuania is a lot easier to put on the front of an album sleeve (even a long box!) than 'the party resort of Palanga on the golden shores of the Baltic Sea, Lithuania'. Each summer, the country's biggest club, Exit, decamps to the popular resort for a limited 9-week season. On July 24th, Dave Seaman will guest at the wild club as the next chapter in Global Underground history is written. GU's City Series played a pivotal part in the development of the dance music culture in Lithuania, with Dave's 'GU016: Cape Town' mix back in 2000 being credited as the inspiration for what has become a hugely vibrant scene. More updates to follow, but with Dave Seaman at the controls and one of Eastern Europe's most passionate party crowds eagerly anticipating his appearance, GU039 looks set to be a monster when it arrives later this year... Watch this space.
8)

Re: Global Underground #39 Dave Seaman

Yeah I liked his Masters CD! A few in the past have been a bit ropey. All DJ’s these days seem to think they are on the path of making an Artist Album. An Artist Album is not a Mix Comp and a Mix Comp is not an Artist Album. It started with involver and has gone down hill ever since. The best DJ isn’t the best remixer and the best remixer isn’t the best DJ. If they both accepted that things would be a lot easier. I don’t think Sasha has done a good remix since 1996 and Paul Van Dyk made his name off the back of a couple of good albums and hasn’t been any good since 1997.

Re: Global Underground #39 Dave Seaman

^Decent point chunky. What happened to the days of dj's just releasing a CD wih 20-25 of their favourite tracks? Now it's a competition to see how many 'exclusive' and 'unreleased' remixes of remixes you can get on a disc.

ouch

isnt a "sasha remix" usually done by Barrie Jamieson/Charlie May/Simon Wright? :D nonetheless i quite liked the chemical brothers remix, burma remix etc

PvDs Out there and back album from 2000?, is one of my all time favourite artist albums i enjoyed the stuff he did until ~2002, its brutal to say he went shite in 1997 imo ;)

Re: Global Underground #39 Dave Seaman

Problem is I thought Carl Cox was going to be decent on Global Underground and all I got was Carl Cox Techno lite, nothing at all like all the other times I have heard him play.

So now I am not expecting much, probably more 'Electro B%^^&*(s' like everybody else seems to be playing at the mo!!!

Re: Global Underground #39 Dave Seaman

Is there anywhere I can listen to samples of this, or a minimix? Love the way Renaissance do a micro-site for their albums, it does help me decide if I will buy the album or not. But GU seemed to do a microsite for Involer 2 and nothing else?
