Site was down because the main drive on the server crashed. As tom said, because of the size of the archives and other shit we host, the HD requirements are nearing 500 gb iirc. To setup a raid that big would be my monthly paycheck.

That, mixed in with the fact that is was Holidays + me traveling resulted in a longer than anticipated downtime. Will be back till everything else wobbles back into place.

as mentioned before, most of the pics in the nonense thread are hotlinked from elsewhere, it doesnt take up as much space as you would think

but because of the size of the thread, it would exert way more load on the relevant DB table if more than 3 or 4 users were to click on the link to load it up. especially if people click the link of the "last page" which would be the most taxing on the db
