Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
I don't think it said anything about that in the rules of submission, but this is a DJ contest and not a Studio contest. So I would think that you should limit yourself to decks and a mixer, and effects if you have it. But if you use your own self editted tracks, that would be unique and interesting.
Nice one!
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
alright... im getting down on this contest.
anyone know how many mixes are already submitted ????
or at least a guess???
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
Why is this important for you? We will listen to all mixes and every single one has the chance to blow us away...so don't worry that it could maybe go under.
Btw..please guys include the info about the style of the set in the tracklist and make your own folder..otherwise the FTP will be a mess. Thanks in advance and once again..Good luck to all. :Smiling:
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
my question was based on pure curriosety...
weather 10 mixes or 1,000 mixes are submitted, I know mine will be heard, im not worried about it.
I was just wondering.. thats all.
Thanks!

i've just been informed that Jibgolly tried to pass off the first Northern Exposure as his own mix... its sad really
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
I heard all 345.213 sets we received so far are from him. This guy has more aliases than Beanz

Didn't know you had to do this? Can we get an email or something just to confirm the mix got uploaded OK? I left mine on overnight and forgot to see if it uploaded correctly.....
Nick... your mix came in fine...

Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
Nice one, thank you.....
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
Wishing the best to all competitors , have fun and work it ! Should be exciting to see what becomes of this , think it would be cool to be able to hear everyones sets regardless of winning or not just to see what people are into the different styles and all . :Bounce:
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
thats good idea..
good luck to all :Bingo:
Whatever happened to Beanz?
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
Hi Everyone!
will i get kicked out for delivering a 73 minute set?
i hate when inspiration comes in lapses of 73' and not 70'
nacho
sorry for bringing back up this topic....

since when is being perfect wrong? :NotMe:
Just a suggestion for anyone who is finding themselves slightly going over the time limit. Grab something like soundforge and remove a few 16/32 beat sections out of some of the longer tracks. Some tracks you may find you can remove a whole section and still keep the flow of the mix.
If you have a problem with the ethics of post-editing a 'live' mix, record the track to your computer (if its on vinyl), create a shorter edit, burn it to cd and then mix it live
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
This morning I checked our FTP for new entries...please guys try to upload your mixes and:
We received a mix where I don't even know the artist name or have a contact info...if this guy wins we can only hope he reads the announcement here and can tell by the set name that it came from him..not to talk about others claiming it was their mix..so PLEASE give us more infos about your mix instead of just dropping a mp3 with a set name on our FTP ...
@Kristian Littman whoever you are...an email addy or ms username and a tracklist would be nice.
@Dalex: you upped a 4 mb WAV file...mind to up a mp3 set with an Email addy?
@James Lauer: you upped 2 partially sets, please check your Email and upload ONE set again completely.
Thanks in advance
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
thanks to MS for taking this initiative - I'll be sure to put something together next week (*the deadline is still Oct 31 - correct??)
cheers
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
Yes the deadline is 31th October..any changes will be announced on the Contest homepage http://www.mercurypromote.com and here of course.
some people wouldn't know the rules right if it came up and bitchslapped them
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
Thanks MercuryServer for this opportunity
Ahh rats!! Wish I'd seen this earlier. The only recorded mix I have is about two years old, and not really that good. No time to do a new one before the 30th, too busy. I really should visit this site more often, not to mention record more often.
Is newness of records a factor at all in the judging?
Maybe I'll enter it anyway just for kicks
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
@Kristian Littman...you upped us your mix now the 2nd time. Thanks we have received it and removed it from the upload folder to make space (as well as all the other submissions we received so far) but we have it. You could upload us a tracklist or contact info instead.
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
just curious, even if people submit a mix and they don't win, though you like their stuff, is mp gonna sponsor like any label would....ie name followed by "MercuryPromote?"
i'm sure there will be a whole slew of great mixes... its gonna be fucking tough to pick a winner.
believe me, there's a couple of mixes I wish I could make a CD Release of ... we got some GOOD peeps on here .. ;)

i guess i need to be gettin busy and throw something down 2night.
Umm yes!

new board bump-idi-bump
Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&
OK, I've been trying to upload my set all day...I don't think it rocks that hard but screw it. Anyway, is it supposed to take an hour and a half to upload? I've done everything as told, but on last attempt I got to 15sec left and it stayed there for 30mins...that can't be right. I'll check on later.
We have your mix don't worry and it seems to be complete. Btw if you uploaded us a mix and check back and your mix is not there anymore it just means me moved it. No need to upload us a mix more than one time.
