Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&

this is the KEY to a winning mix :

"We're looking for unique mixes. Grabbing the top records every jock is spinning and putting that into a set isn't going to cut it - be different, be creative"

i could see a wicked prog trip-hop mix stealing the trophy...

best of luck to all involved... :Bingo:
FYI, what is "handbag house?" :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Handbag house is a term from the mid 90s. It was used to describe tracks that caused women to raise their hands over their heads (ie, anthems). Not an easy task when holding a handbag, so a group of girls would dance in a circle and drop their handbags in the center. Therefore, at least one girl could keep an eye on the handbags and prevent any thefts. Everybody else coud reach for the ceiling.

If the term was used today, Eric Prydz "Call On Me" would definitely be handbag.

OK when I log on to the FTP site theres a folder named incoming. Are we supposed to put the folders in there? Not that I can upload anyway as it doesn't let me - says I don't have permission to or something......

Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&

I'm getting the same error. I don't have permission to create a folder anywhere - alongside the 'incoming' folder or inside it.

For anyone else who has just done a mix, I did a 69 minute mix encoded it at 192kbps and it cam out at 96 mb. A 160kbps version was 82 mb and I was told to use this one instead.

cheers, RH

I'll be doing some shit-stirring on my decks and see what pops out...I read the announcement while doing some, fuck..I might just use that one. I always love getting that feeling when I start jumping 'n dancing and waving to the non-existent crowd, hehehe....

Hope I'm not the only one for Holland out here?

Good luck to everyone, kik ass dudz!

Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&

I think it won't let me upload because it wants to give other people a chance....

#280871Post 60 of 229

Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&

Nick there was a small error on my part.... I have to change the DIR permissions, all is fixed now..... you might not be able to create a folder...

When you have your set ready, upload the set to the incoming folder in a zip filealong with tracklisting, name, and email address, and what music style you think you fit into

Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&

This idea was long overdue. Thanks guys. It would be kinda nice if we could download people's mixes off of the ftp-but I'm sure that would be difficult.

#282136Post 71 of 229

Re: >>>> Mercurypromote DJ Contest <<<&

So...why is it that right when I'm on fire behind the decks that my left earshell breaks from my headphones and that I don't have any money right now to buy a new one?

Why?

And why does that happen when I'm mixing for a DJ contest?

Why?

 I can't deal with this. Imma take a crap on my mixer and piss over my decks. Just for the finishing touch of bad luck.
