Re: Transitions 4

Judging by the email I got from recordstore, I managed to receive a signed copy, but their shipment was delayed or something, so I'm still waiting to hear how this sounds. My expectations are quite low, given that neither the second nor the third of the series has lived up to the first installment in my eyes, but the podcast sounds decent...

Re: Transitions 4

just played this twice over and all i can say is wow, the way it builds to them last few tunes is like nothing i've ever heard. definitely the best mix i've heard for a long time and definitely john digweds best. can't pick a single fault with it only that i wish it was a few hours long. happy days!

Re: Transitions 4

back on the car (again)

starting to warm to its delicacies!!

#1004915Post 130 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

I listened to this in a few different environments, but not the car yet, sitting in traffic seems to be the place I notice many more details..

I don't think I love it. :( I like it but it just doesn't sound like digweed to me, great for a studio mix.. but some of the layering got to me.

I want to love it, but I want it to build huge like a liveset. Much like the poster on the first page...fucking huge tracks and very elegantly compiled but the track leaves before it really resonates with me.

I layed down, put it on my bookshelfs and i could hear every layer possible.. the way the layers come in are very strong... much different then live, this wouldnt work in a club.

second time I edited some photos and tried to get lost in the vortex, but it never came....

:(

have i lost my mind?

Re: Transitions 4

is this supposed to be available on ITunes? I don't see it anywhere.

I didn't like T1-2 and thought T3 at least had a more consistent flow to it, while some loved all of them or some of them as well. Transitions is kinda odd for a Digweed series from the varied responses each release has garnered. So don't worry about it! ;)8)

Re: Transitions 4

trust me a couple of times in the car and this is starting to come alive in a epic way!

Re: Transitions 4

Re: Transitions 4

It might be hard on you.. I tried that with t4 already.

I could feel my brain rotating in my head trying to decipher the layers.

#1009825Post 143 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

Re: Transitions 4

Like this more and more with each listen. It gets amazing when you stop paying attention to what he did with the tracks or to the tracks and just let it flow.

thats unfortnately the problem i have listening to most mix sets :( you are correct, when you can just let the mix flow and not try to listen for all the transistions (no pun intended) it seems be a lot more enjoyable

Re: Transitions 4

I gather that only live sets are allowed to be shared on here then, makes sense and allows the site to stay up. Anyone not following such a simple rule to not post copyrighted material stands to ruin the site for all its members. Not good at all.

Makes me think of Bedrock too, when it was at Heaven - what a great club that was, one of my all time favourites in all honesty!

Bedrock still is at Heaven

Re: Transitions 4

I think the first 20 minutes or so are very solid and build well. It flatlines for me after that only to end abruptly. I needed a few more stronger build songs and deep stab at the end. Well mixed and the songs do flow well.

Re: Transitions 4

goddamn it fuck shit ass cunt shit cunt whore!!!!!!!

i just typed a big ass review of how i felt about this fuckiing disc and my cocksucking keyboard which decided to fuck me over by keeping the shift key locked down erased my entire reply. i swear to cockless whores and ball-less minions LAPTOPS suck and i will never ever never endorse them. Fuck It!!!!!!

by the way my reply about digweeds disc had a lot to do with it rocking big time and even reaching VORTEX status with a certain track near the end.

fantastic cd!!!!!!!!!!! 2 thumbs and an additional non-thumb UP! :Naughty:

Re: Transitions 4

ok, ive had enough time to absorb it, and it could be a slight vagabond bias as to have most of these songs blast the skin off your face but im going to put this up there with balance 005 as my favorite releases, ever.

#1011343Post 154 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

This cd is ok but it didn´t hit me as something special, maybe i´ll have to give it another chance

#1011391Post 155 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

It is not special. Nor unique, nor creative. I have burned the first 25 minutes. That is all you need. I don't think the 1 CD trick is working esp on this mix. It starts off really well, but just never really goes any where. I would like a double and I think this alb would have been more successful. Don't get me wrong, it is a good CD but I don't think this is John's best work. Frankly I am getting kinda tired of the 1 CD quick session.

#1011402Post 156 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

^^ the last part doesn't go anywhere?? to me that end gets pretty crazy and the energy just keeps escalating, certainly moreso than the first 25 minutes... oh well. vive la difference 8)

Re: Transitions 4

Around 38 mins onwards is madness for me.

#1011436Post 158 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

it seems to be a disc that people are either drooling over (myself) or not particularly fond of. to those who don't like it...i suggest listening to the individual tracks, and then to the mix, to give you some perspective on the unbelievable job he did in layering this disc. he makes entirely new songs by combining the tunes in the way he did, and it blows my mind.

#1011449Post 159 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

I have listened to it over 30 times. I also got my signed copy and ripped into 320 and still don't feel it. Perhaps I am bruned out on John. I really really like the first 25 minutes ... it just does not carry well for me. I agree the mixing is very good ... perhaps too much a production for me.

Really digging SOS BALANCE DISC ONE. NOW THAT IS BEAST OF A PRODUCTION!
