It's anything that doesn't sound like it like it was made in 2002. Get it right! ;)

electro = a load of shite music from 2005, responsible for the weakest least vortex-like set i've ever witnessed from digweed.

Re: Transitions 4

^^ you mean electro house

Too right. Caught him in 06 and it was abysmal.

Re: Transitions 4

He's been spot on from 2006 on.

Thought he was a bit shit in 2004-2005.

Start of 2004 was way too fluffy and Dekay without balls and then he went all electro house like everyone else.

2006 techno started to dominate his sets.

Re: Transitions 4

just got back from S&D at webster hall. i hate my life right now because i had to leave at 4am since i have work the next day. Sasha and digweed just totally ripppppped it.

and i listened to transitions 4 earlier this morning. sorry guys but this cd is not the real john digweed vortex. anyone who thinks this is a fool. its a very very well mixed concept cd...but his club experience is just off the WALL.

this really makes up for the shitty atlantic city S&D experience which totally blew and almost made me stop being a fan.

Re: Transitions 4

when i saw him 2006. he had a very electroy hard sound!

wasnt what i was expecting, but still fucking ace.

good energy and tune selection. the guy is a master at it! whether its an off year or not the guy rules!!

#995191Post 89 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

itsjung you're the fool. I said this is the closest he's ever gotten to the vortex experience in a mixed comp.

Re: Transitions 4

DIRTY DIRTY beats! Diggers is definitely on for this cd!

Re: Transitions 4

I think everyone seems to forget the title of the CD series...its called TRANSITIONS...

i.e. from dictionary.com = /music/ A modulation, especially a brief one. It leaves Digweed wide open for interpretation as well as the listener. I'm sure he had a reason for calling this series TRANSITIONS.

IMHO...he needs to come out with a new Renaissance 4 CD box set and call it VORTEX and this would probably make everyone happy. Maybe an almost replicate of his WMC Vagabond set (when hell freezes I'm sure).... hmmmm....

Bedrock presents VAGABOND VORTEX. That really sounds good.

Re: Transitions 4

^^^^Sounds good to me

Transitions 4 is just fine for me right now. Incredible mix, I really enjoyed Vol 3 and I think this new one tops even it.

#995569Post 93 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

IMHO this Transitions is pretty damn good. Definitely gonna get the full CD version that will will sound a lot better dynamically. The acquired MP3 promo doesn't have the crispness nor the heavy bottom end. The first things to go on any type of MP3 compression is low end and high end frequencies, not matter what type of encoding you use. Listened to this for 8 hours straight under different environments and each had a different impression and feel after listening. Headphones even high end Shure E4 in-ear monitors don't do it justice. Also, listened in my better than average car audio system and Klipsch L-R Stereo computer speaker set-up. It sounded best in a proper Paradigm 5.1 surround sound speaker environment with dual 12" subwoofers. Even though it was simulated and processed stereo surround, it definitely sounded the best. With the final CD and pure audio dynamics, I'm sure it would sound even more amazing. It would be great if they could release a remaster of this into a true 5.1 CD. As always, Diggers did a super fine job.

I thought it was out on the 14th March and was waiting for my copy to arrive. It took me a week to realize. Its seems like a long wait for this one.

Hmm you're right, it was the end of the year when I caught him, so it can't be 06 then. Nov 05 probably ... fuck feels like forever since I heard him live :(:(

Re: Transitions 4

Whoa. Just checked out the UK iTunes and saw all the unmixed tracks. I ordered mine from johndigweed.com and while it may be signed, I doubt it will have these unmixed tracks with it. Looks like I may be purchasing this version also when it appears on the US iTunes. WORTH IT!

Re: Transitions 4

I think the first half of the mix has a similar vibe/flow. That was my impression when I heard T4 for the first time as well.

Re: Transitions 4

I've listened this mix several times by now, and althought diggers is my favourite dj, i have to say i'm disapointed with this one.

I can aprecciate this taking to another level regarding mixing techniques and creativity...and i can understand the urge in digweed to make something never tried before and creating a different experience, but i didnt felt the groove and feeling of the other transitions. I think he should have made this outside the transitions series.

I found myself confused when i tried to remenber the mix...and sometimes the layering fucks up the essence of the tracks....when you really start to feel the track the next one bumps in and fucks up the feeling.

I think he tried to make something great and never seen before...but he tried to hard and lost the essence and the simplicity of some tracks and never reached a fully enjoyable melodic groove.

Or maybe he did create something classic and its just to great to grow on me at the moment.

ps: is there anything left to say about those 2 last tracks?!!! really mind blowing and fucking at the same time...i was almost taking my headphones off because i couldnt handle it anymore :twisted::twisted:

#1001549Post 114 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

^ | he's been playing those last two tracks live, as well. you should hear 'em over a big soundsystem, in the dark, around 4am...

Re: Transitions 4

^ one word!

VORTEX!!!

#1001566Post 116 of 198

Re: Transitions 4

I'm really looking forward to hear him play with sasha near my hometown at Rock in Rio Lisbon on June 6...but i dont think im gonna feel the real "vortex" experience that so many describe.

I'm sad to say that i never felt the vortex before...and i dont think i will on june 6....because together they take you on a different journey....but those 2 last tracks really gave me a momentarily flash of what the real vortex must feel like.....those 2 last ones are really a big teaser leaving you wanting for more8)

The funny thing is that I HATED the earlier ones and this is not like those as much... funny how things are. This reminds me a little more of the Digweed I use to love. I hope he makes a CD you like soon. It had been about 4 years since he made a CD I was willing to buy.
