Re: Hummer H3
Not a fan of the Commander, I think it is hideous :Hurl:
The MDX and Pilot are both very solid choices, I even saw some pics of someone off-roading in a Pilot, which I couldn't believe, but it seemed to be doing pretty well believe it or not. The main issue however is the Minivan soccar mom image they portray.

Honda overall has established an image of their product as the Dependable Cost Effective family solution to everyday travelling. If that Box that they call the Element didn't have such a radical design, it would have kept up with the image.
Though I am fond of the Pilot, it's one of the only SUV's that I test drove and I will tell you, the third row seat in that sucker is as good as the second row seat. Plenty of leg room and the leather finish made it really comfortable to sit in even for long hauls. Additionally, since its based on the Accord Platform (iirc), the ride was incredibly nimble.
Excellent choice for Middle Class families

I just got a copy of AcuraZine this month and it just found out the MDX gets a complete redesign for 2007. The 20inch wheels look sick!

I'm not looking to climb terrain that will snap my fucking tie rods. I'm well over 6 feet and cycle and ski. I need to be able to transport up to 4 people with a full ski gear load. I don't plan to tow anything with my SUV, just hit off-road with it. Some of these SUVs are not SUVs, but LUVs (Luxury Utility Vehicles)... X3, X5, Audi, Acura. I need 4x4 and possibly a gun mount for a crew serve weapon.

it was a concept in may, it's production now kamal. a pic of one on the street vs one behind pretty graphical background.
Re: Hummer H3
Other than the purple lighting, its pretty much the same, they had a reveal of the MDX and the 07 TL here in PA in the 2nd and 3rd week of this month and spy shots of the MDX are exactly the same (minus the background ;) )

J, seriously? Go check out the Pathfinder, you'll really like how it behaves, excellent truck. Did a brief write up on it when I tested it out last year (rented it for about 4 days)

I have a 5.3 liter gas guzzling truck, and i use it to get to work.... where I sit behind a desk. I also eat baby eagles everyday and can't wait to go seal bashing...
Re: Hummer H3
Ah, you're a Seal basher? Wanted to get into that a few years ago, but picked up Bald Eagle hunting instead.

if i pull up to a jobsite to go over blueprints in a frickin mazda, i'll not only not get the job, i'll likely get my ass kicked.

I mean considering the size of you (Guvner Schwarzenegger built), that Mazda aint got sqaut on you
Re: Hummer H3
those construction guys drink beer then eat the can, that's the difference.
Re: Hummer H3
I've thought about the MDX -- plus, my wife used to sell Acuras, so we'd probably be able to get a reasonably good deal on one through her connections.
algy's spot on with the "LUV" thing, though. That's my primary sticking point. Like I said, I don't need to do anything too terribly rugged, but I don't want to pay for an SUV that can't actually do SUV things at all.
I do like the redesign, though...

Re: Hummer H3
Back to the SUV topic, anyone know about the Jeep Commander?
I haven't driven one yet but I know plenty of people that have rented them in "new" condition and they had many gripes. Just like other Jeeps, freakin' no leg room or room for anything in that thing. I will give Jeep one thing though, they got some kick when you lay on the pedal.
Re: Hummer H3
On the topic, the '07 Expedition looked sweet the last time I saw one in April. Might have to trade the wife's '05 in when they come out. I'd look for a pic but I'm heading out. If someone sees one, post it.
Re: Hummer H3
That Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 with the fat ass wheels and hemi looks sick.
a 420 hp motor in a suv. lol. beats a Porsche Cayenne Turbo from 0-60.

Dude, that thing is a hoss. I can almost hear the engine from here. I could feel OK with myself driving that around -- probably way more than I need, but wow is that a tempting option.
Re: Hummer H3
the Turbo S tops out @ 520. Sorry toasty and Jenks ... I will see you in the rearview ... VrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmMMMMMMMM!
Re: Hummer H3
not from zero to 60 you won't chief. horsepower isn't directly related to quickness, keyboard. plus, the jeep costs a fraction of the porsche. you're going to have to sell a lot of art to pick up your dream turbo.
Re: Hummer H3
the jeep costs a fraction of the porsche. you're going to have to sell a lot of art to pick up your dream turbo.
If you're a small business owner paying annual taxes = to or greater than the MSRP of a Porsche, you are entitled to claim 50% depriciation on the value of the vehicle within the first year as a tax write off (seems most vehicles 5000 lbs and higher have the opportunity to do so). So the Porsche could end up costing as much as the Jeep.
Re: Hummer H3
Hmmmm, maybe i'll be visiting the porsche dealership then...
Re: Hummer H3
So when are we gonna see picts of the new purchase Jenks :p
