Re: Hummer H3

yea I'll give my vote on the 4Runner's too but IF you are going to consider one of them, I'd say give it another 8 or 9 months, I believe they're due for a minor upgrade next year.

Re: Hummer H3

I driven one:

 1. Better G Milage than the H2 and H1, but still low none the less.
 2. Horrible visibility inside the cabin, lots of blind spots for a large SUV
 3. Under powered, def for towing

I'd really like to drop my lumber on an X5 though.

Re: Hummer H3

MPG not a big deal at all -- the little lady gets all her gas for free, so if we ever really have to drive a great distance, we just take her car. It's a Taurus, which I hate, but free is free, especially with gas as it is. Plus, as I mentioned earlier, almost everything on the road gets better mileage than my Jeep.
4 Runner Toasty?
Yeah, I've thought about those as an option. I've got a couple of friends that have them and like them, too. My biggest problem with them is that they're entirely sensible. Up until now, every car I've had has showcased my irresponsbility by either being completely unreliable, unsafe, and/or unable to transport anything larger than a briefcase. I've never really had a sensible, practical car before, and I fear that getting a 4 Runner -- which is a reasonably priced vehicle from a reputable car company that will likely give me no problems whatsoever and meet all of my needs -- officially signals the onset of full-blown adulthood. ;) :D

check out that Pathy, guy... that or the 4Runner, both practical while still being ballsy enough

Well whatever you do... Stay the fuck away from Land Rover. English can not make a SUV worth a shit. I know 2 owners and they are always in the shop for daaaaayys at a time.

Re: Hummer H3

20 MPG is pretty fucking good for this POS but there's a reason why you only see women driving these things around.
My wife's Expedition gets like 18MPG but then again it's got a 5.4L engine putting out 300hp and weighs freakin' 5900 lbs. We enjoy it.
20 MPG.. anyone know if GM is recommending 93 octane or can you use 87? If 93, you're going to fucking feel that.

Re: Hummer H3

The new Audi Q7 is the shit, my mate works for them and he gets to take one home agood bit.. So much bigger and cooler than any other SUV in Europe right now.

Re: Hummer H3

While we're discussing SUV's, what's your take on the Infiniti QX56? Reason I ask is, everyone has one where I live and I think they look like shite.

Nice, my girl "has access" to a RAM Super Duty 2500 with a Hemi for towing her horse trailor, that thing is a BEAST. It towers over other SUVs and the Hemi? Put it like this: she doesn't like me driving it... "Baby, it's not my fault... the Hemi made me do it!"

Definitely not very pratical though in terms of milage and just sheer size.

I'm sure you can use 87 octane.. I have a newer chevy avalanche and it uses 87. The 07s will allow you to use the new gas made from corn. Hope that takes off cuz we gots lots of that stuff here.

Re: Hummer H3

lol sounds like my wife... oh and the mpg isnt bad at all... made it from vegas to cali - 4 hr drive - on half of a tank of gas...

I have one friend who has had an L3 for over a year and another who has a Sport and neither have had an issue with them.... nothing. If I was in the market for a truck I'd probably end up getting the pathfinder..

Typically when a mfg. says use premium they have good reason. Cars with turbos or high compression setups need it to ward off detonation. I do know that some GM cars have octane sensors which retard the timing if you put in cheap gas but if they say use premium and you know it doesen't have a setup like above listen closely for the pinging and knocking- thats your engine being destroyed.

armada is the exact same thing w/ a nissan badge instead of infiniti...so it's still an overbloated gas guzzling hideous piece of shit. just a bit more reasonably priced!

actually, i can't believe i'm about ready to defend ford, but since they have bought Land Rover, the quality has dramatically improved. in 1998/99 when i was suv shopping i looked at land rover and the salesman blatantly said that if i don't have a second car then i should look else where...lots of problems but all fixed under warranty most of the time. not sure when ford bought them but have read several articles stating that quality has drastically risen.

if they'd just bring back the defender 90, this wouldn't even be a thread!!!

Dude, I was just about to post the same after I read the comment. Fucking Ford had to take over Land Rover and revamp the parts so they were Ford made and easier produce and distributed. This means that it would take 1 day to get a Land Rover part vs. 3 weeks from the standard England factory.

Also, Ford implemented their Q&A processes to the Land Rover company. It's still a maturing process, but it has allowed manufacturing to improve. The problem with them is not so much mechanical, but gay electrical glitches that have not been totally revamped by Ford yet. For instance, my friend has her Discovery in the shop right this minute b/c the fucking doors start locking and unlocking while she's driving.

I'm just not a big fan of Chrysler products or their quality, including the jeep commander. Some days i like the boxy look of it, other days i don't. Either way, can't see myself buying one over many others in its class.

Re: Hummer H3

A certified pre-owned loaded 05 / 06 Acura MDX (esp with the SH-AWD from the RL) with low miles would be an EXCELLENT addition to your garage esp if you live in areas with heavy snow. RIght around 36,000 for under 15K miles, its a brilliantly made vehicle with a pleasant drive.
