i'm not
You can say that again. I really can't understand how these voting DJ voting contests are done. I mean it's not like they have statistics regarding their performances.

It's just a popularity contest. If you want to vote for the best DJ for the techincal aspect then Zabiela is the man or best atmoshpere then Sasha is the man. It's just ridiculous to even have something like the Best DJ contest due to so many other variables regarding Djing.

I personally would be shocked if the DJ that wins this contest is not a Prog. Trance DJ.

DJ Sami is a hot favorvite so i heard.

Re: Dj mag top 100 - results

We can all be apathetic about the results of the contest, but to me it's more of a thing that's just for pure fun. We all know who's up there in our our books and certainly a contest won't change your tastes.

Re: Dj mag top 100 - results

its impossible to rate a dj objectively, because and taste and appeal varies from person to person

Re: Dj mag top 100 - results

yes. there is a technical skill. i know when i see a good mixer. from watching him/her i can hear the results in the sound. so yes you can.

Re: Dj mag top 100 - results

^true so is best dj in the world the most talented or best technically? or is it overall. thats what i was referring to.

its all relative to what you are partial to

Re: Dj mag top 100 - results

In less than an hour the tranmission starts (at ministryofsound.com radio), in almost 4 hours (midnight in UK) they will post the results on the web.. but you can hear them before ;)

what what????

#502221Post 52 of 148

Re: Dj mag top 100 - results

I seem to recall them having phrased the question something like "the DJ that had impressed you the most over the past year". So there is no direct reference to or mixin' skillz, phat scratchin', or any particular aspect of DJing. If it is what floats your boat then sure; technically skilled DJs will get your vote. Many people, however, are more impressed by having a darned good time, and, god bless them, those candy ravers sure know how to have a good time. I have heard a number of people comment something along the lines of not being able to remember anything of a performence (I wonder why) except that they had an awsome night, and that is why the DJ gets in their top 5 or whatever.

anyways the whole poll is balls imo

Aren't Deep Dish 2 DJs? How can you really include them in the list as a team? It's not like they're holding each other's hands while mixing records.
