Re: Overrated DJ's
this is about DJ's. not PRODUCERS. listening to james lavelle attempting to dj is slightly worse than dying of cancer.
That FuckHead put me in a bad mood twice in 3 months. What's Sasha thinking letting him do that in the middle of a party?...(Crobar Feb2005) I thought Diggers was going to punch him in Miami...instead the dude right next to me slung his water bottle him.

I CAN'T EVEN LISTEN TO UNKLE TRACKS ANYMORE

Re: Overrated DJ's

I thought Darren Emerson was horrible.

Howells can be hit or miss. Lately more hit though. I used to think he sucked.

Re: Overrated DJ's

DEEP and DISH

(if they were mentioned already...sorry...i haven't read the thread in its entirety)

deep dish is highly overrated. i can't believe people would pay 30 bucks or more to see one of the two. then again, you may luck out and get to hear both of them. i can hear my local dj's who play prog play the same type of music for 5 dollars...they'd probably play better too.

anyone remember let's get ill??

seriously, no thanks.

but i do miss the old deep dish. just as much as i miss the old bt. :(

#447741Post 94 of 142

i miss the pre-renaissance cd deep dish. 2001 and prior. and i'm with ya on 'lets get ill' fuck p.dyddy and everything he touches. wanker!

#447760Post 95 of 142

sure, fcuk diddy.... but deep dish are solid live... anyone who wants to contradict me, go check them out... fanfuckintastic

#447801Post 96 of 142

i have seen deep dish. at least 5 times. a couple times was Sharam alone. usually had a good time. again, these were all in 2001 or earlier. saw them here in 2003 and they sucked. bad mixing. go nowhere vibe. blah!

#447885Post 97 of 142

Gabriel & Dresden the past few years...

Re: Overrated DJ's

Gab & D have certainly never surpassed their 1st EM in 2004 which was fantastic - Deep Dish have descending down a cheesy commercial slope ... Burridge still sends me to sleep, and poor old Sander k is a shadow of his former glorious self (oh how I pine for a return to the Sander that produced those timeless 2001 and 2003 EM's).

Re: Overrated DJ's

^ along a similar vein I would add Paolo Mojo, he may not be overrated but uh what are your thoughts on PM?

#871152Post 104 of 142

Re: Overrated DJ's

I think David Guetta fits perfectly in this thread.

#871153Post 105 of 142

Re: Overrated DJ's

#871162Post 106 of 142

Re: Overrated DJ's

^^^ I'd have to disagree with that....saw him for the first time at WMC and it was one of my favourite sets

#871167Post 107 of 142

Re: Overrated DJ's

ya I havent heard anything from him since last year.. he really disappointed me last year havent been able to listen to him since.. maybe i'll give him another go..

#871192Post 108 of 142

Re: Overrated DJ's

#871310Post 109 of 142

Re: Overrated DJ's

George Acosta and Sasha. I don't hear any difference between the two of those jokers. In fact, are they really the same guy?

#871314Post 110 of 142

Re: Overrated DJ's

^^^ I was all pumped up to hear George Acosta a few months back as everyone was telling me how good he was....maybe he was having an off night, but he bored me

Re: Overrated DJ's

Paul Van Dyk

This bloke cant mix, cant program, bizarrely has the ability to make brilliant records sound crap. If you listen to the 1999-06-18 - Nikita, San Francisco set of his. He plays some records Sasha was playing at the time. They sounded mediocre when PVD played them and amazing when Sasha played them. And this bloke has been number 1 for the last 2 years

I think Dave Haslem said it all in his book Adventures On The Wheels Of Steel (The Rise Of The Superstar Djs) about Paul Van Dyk. Dave did an interview with Paul and went on to one of his gigs afterwards. His records where played in no particular order, he'd play the wrong side of the records accidentally, and didn't really have a clue. Read the book its interesting.

Re: Overrated DJ's

Thats pretty interesting, and bbc does seem to have muppets spinning, whats up with that? Why don't they get knew muppets at least?

He played here recently and everyone who saw him absolutely raved over him,and there were quite a few people whose judgment I would believe in!!

Re: Overrated DJ's

^ but there is a problem with this: why are people paying 50 bones, even more, to watch him on training wheels?

Consider jokenfold as an example.
