sasha
How the fuck is Sasha overrated? Sasha deserves the merit he gets more than any other DJ i can think of. pah, don't get me started
as a proud attendee of their recent crobar set ... I can say ... sasha went on first, and I thought, NO WAY digweed can top this.

Then he did.

And they kept switching back and forth all thruout the night

I love sasha

but digweed owns my heart

when I was at crobar ...

I was by myself

I freaked out at sasha's first set

then I started hugging myself when digweed came on ... tears rolling down my cheeks ...

some nice guy behind patted me and said, "It's okay"

I said, "I know, but DIGWEED"

in this, there is no right or wrong, but there are Sasha people and Digweed people.

Digweed is my personal friend, even though I've never met him. Doesn't mean I don't love sasha, but DIGGERS!!!

something about him is PERSONAL ... in a way that sasha isn't ....

see ... I'm totally torn about this ... I think that he definitely goes beyond "good dj." For me, though, he brings it sporadically... The highs are great ... but the lows and the misses are terrible.

Re: Overrated DJ's

Oh where to begin I like totally don't know and stuff. Here's the list in order from the crappest to the crappy but not as crap.

  1. John Lisle
  2. Steve Lawler
  3. Satashi Tomie
  4. Cass
  5. Steve Gerard I'm rating them on live performances which were all hopelessly, haplessly boring and endlessly long. Of due note was a five minute breakdown in a Lawler set which consisted of a Martin Luther King speech played over the top of a woefully inadequate synth arangement. What the hell where you thinking Steve? And what was worse was that two weeks before seeing him I had downloaded the entire set he played in Helsinki and ours was identicle, track for track, for two hours. Jesus!

Re: Overrated DJ's

Yeah Jesus H. Christ in a Chicken basket. Would you very please consider swithcing to trance and become a member of tranceaddicts.com?

You've just named the entire spectrum of prog to be crap. What the fuck are you doing here if I may ask?

Re: Overrated DJ's

thank god no one mentioned howells and burridge as being over rated 8)

they are the best!

i'd have to agree with sasha being slightly over rated.. he's trying really hard these days to make that impact he used to make in the old days but i dont think its working out too well.

he needs banging tracks basically, involveresque beats and melodies just arent making it happen for my in 2005 :P

#405973Post 62 of 142

Re: Overrated DJ's

I appreciate Burridge's technical skills, but I don't like his music. I can't say he's overrated just because I don't like him.

Now, dannyfuckinghowells, I love!

Luke Fair - never quite understood the hype to be honest.

He's made a couple of good tunes but nothing amazing.

Yao please note the following names I did not list who are all brilliant Djs, interesting people and some wonderful producers of, I might ad, Prog you close minded fool.

  1. Nick Warren
  2. Hybrid
  3. Danny Howells
  4. Luke Chable
  5. Anthony Pappa
  6. Hambersham
  7. Jacob Todd
  8. Both The Lo Step Boys (Fernandez and Phil K)
  9. Shiloh
  10. Derek Howell
  11. Lee Buridge
  12. Benz and MD
  13. Omid 16B And the list goes on and on. So although your ignorance is a source of consistent amusement to me please a least be a little more creative in future. :P

I take it you havent heard much of a variety of sasha's recent sets, cause I have heard every Fundacion in NYC start to close (I'm good like that) and not even including the night he played with digweed (that was retarded perfect) I would have to say he's been "banging" just fine... do trying something new and innovative and taking risks constitute as criteria for overrat(ion)?

I must say that it works much better towards the end of the night for him since earlier on the crowd is full of drunk assholes and ho's that wouldn't know crap from gold and wave their arms and get overheard saying things like "where is she? - Who? - Sasha? The DJ? - I dunno - who's that guy?" When the floor becomes receptive it's good times a plenty bangin.... and god help you if you think involver is overrated (not a human idea of god as a concious entity/pro-holy-war/religious people are fucking lunatics god, but the figure of speech god) it might not be your cup of tea but its fuckin good, I like it even more than earl grey..... and thats sayin sumthin....

               at any rate....

o?ver?rate(vr-rt)tr.v. o?ver?rat?ed, o?ver?rat?ing, o?ver?rates

To overestimate the merits of; rate too highly.

sasha has a shitload of merit badges. and yes, he is different now thank figure of speech god.
