Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

cd 3 is so hypnotic...

#1658496Post 242 of 426

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

I know I'm late to this party, but I feel the urge to chime in and say that this album is incredible! Best stuff I've heard from the man in what feels like years.

And I concur about CD 3. The word 'phenomenal' doesn't even do it justice...

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

3 is the magic number

#1658513Post 244 of 426

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

before looking at the tracklist, i could've sworn that cd 2: 2. Coma - Stelios Vassiloudis was a remix of knights of columbus :|

I'll be there pending my flight out from Lon. This would be an immense night.
CD aside just thinking, fuck this would have been a good night.
it was amazing from start to finish but I am slightly biased ;-) CD1 and 2 will be discs I will go back to time and time again

#1658568Post 250 of 426

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

telling your boss cds 3 and 4 are throwaways...... Brave move!

#1658606Post 251 of 426

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

@ 20:45 on CD1 someone yells "way to go John" .. I high five that person in my head every time.
CD aside just thinking, fuck this would have been a good night.
I was very close to booking tix to London for it, but it fell apart.. to many people involved.

I don't think that anyone has comentted on the ambiant/crowd noise editing .. I think its very well done! I listened to cd1 and cd2 with my armatures last night and I like it way better than Cordoba.

#1658607Post 252 of 426

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

I guess no one's commented on the ambient/crowd noise because as you said, it's well done enough to be invisible.
getting this set as a XMAS gift so ive gotta wait for a couple more weeks unfortunately.
As I've already mentioned, ditto! The wait is kicking my ass. May have to drag myself down to Fabric next Saturday just to relieve the pressure ;)

#1658926Post 262 of 426

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

i believe he signed 1000 copies.

cd2 is where its at for me, especially the second half, cd1 is a close second. cd3/4 i wasnt feeling the second time around as much, but i can tell 1 and 2 will rock out for a very very long time. those first two disks are instant classics.

#1658931Post 263 of 426

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

yup just under 1,000 have been signed and we are down to the last 100 copies left and just in case anyone is interested we've just done a Christmas deal on the hoodies and t shirts giving away either £10 worth of CD's or £10 worth of posters respectively

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

In Madrid for Diggers at Mondo tonight :) Blasted through 1&2 repeatedly ... CD3 on the flight, very underground but broken up by some nice vocals to keep the groove going, will still sound great in 5 years time.

Visiting my good mate Vish (Funkykarma) who is well impressed with CD2 ... the Jemmy/Stel V/Mohn segment has been on repeat.

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

I agree cd 1 & 2 will stand the test of time IMO.

Still haven't heard 3 & 4 yet.

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

Digs Says "When it was just turntables and a mixer, it was a level playing field—you could either mix records or you couldn’t. Today, with Traktor, Ableton, and the latest CDJs, those loose mixes have all been tightened up with technology, so now the real skill is the track selection and how you create the mood for your set. I think these formats are great, but can also lend themselves to allowing the same playlists to be played night after night as it`s right there in front of you and it worked the night before. This might work for some DJs, but for me, I always want to try and challenge myself with new mixes at every gig. As for pre- recorded sets—DJs that just press play—that’s a whole other debate."

so true. sometimes i wish it was still back in the day when u had to have a real skill to mix and play live.

crazy thing is it really has been only a little over 10 years where this was still the case.

Re: Digweed live in London 4xCD

I've given this 2 complete listens now. An absolutely superb comp overall. I would rank the discs as 1>2>3>4 in terms of what I enjoy the most. The last half hour on disc 4, bar the last track, are a bit ploddy for me, but I think that's because the rest of the comp is such high quality.

As simonr mentioned, the Jemmy, Mohn, Mohn section is superb. Feels like the end of a set rather than hour 2.

I really hope Digweed continues this format and that other djs take heed.
