Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
Maybe he should just set aside some time and release a proper 2 or 3 CD studio mix. Those seldom disappoint. A new Renaissance or Transitions or even Balance from him would be stellar.

Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
^^^all great ideas, i just wish there was someway he would be able to release the real stuff on a live cd for purchase. copyright nonsense baffles me.
to tell u guys the truth, after listening to the mini mix i knew i wasn't gonna buy this.
he does still often have great releases on his label though, guy j elements was just phenomenal, and i loved all his structures

Just read this bit..... I haven't heard a Sasha set in ages..... would be interested in knowing which quality set he has released recently??
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
nothing lately but in the past years he has released tons. most available off his website.
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
C'mon ... Diggers has shared music 52 weeks a year for the past 12 years. Naturally he's got a right to decide what he releases and to have the level of control he desires.
The CD marketplace has changed ... he's consolidated his label and this benefits the artists/producers involved .. and the label which flourishes.
Also, while some people like things pumped up & banging ... will the non [ms] crowd appreciate this ?
Fact is, its one thing being in a club after a few drinks (or more) and a set it built to destroy mode with you're going nuts .... it's a far more different situation at home putting a CD on at home in the afternoon.

in 2010 he gave us MOS and fabric, in 2011 womb & panorama bar.... 3-4 hrs each set in hq. quality over quantity, besides i much prefer these sets than a weekly radioshow ;)
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
^^my thoughts exactly.
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
As the others said..Cordoba set is nothing special..tbh the last time when i was really excited about Digweed's mixed set was the Essential Mix in 2010. Even his 3 hours and a half live set here in Sofia last year was ''hit or mess'' (some great tracks followed by some strange not worthy to be remembered tunes) The whole releasing a live set as a mixed compilation idea is WRONG...Studio mix by Diggers is how it should be...At the end of the day John Digweed is still one of my biggest favs and i am 100% sure he will continue to deliver quality and nothing but quality..
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
And people over in Bedrock call MS folks sycophants.
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
Why's that?
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
^^^ a person who acts toward someone in order to gain advantage; a servile flatterer. And much as I hate to say it they might be right. Nah, just joking, this thread pretty well proves not all Ms folks are sycophants .
Can't believe I have used obsequious and obsequiously twice in the same week

I've not watched the Flintstones for years, is it still on?

What could be more sycophantic than joining a forum devoted only to a single dj and his label?
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
^^ Oy !! Watch it there .
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
Shrug, we did talk about Digweed's hair a fair bit. And Hawtin's. And Howells'. All in good fun.

Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
I had trouble wrapping my head around this myself at first. Then I found time to listen to it from start to finish on a car drive.
Too bad that not many people have 2,5 hours in their day to listen to something from start to finish these days.

heard it while i took a 1 hour bus ride and walked around town the entire day ... still think that its too much of a cock tease ... like someone had said its ok if its something that he releases on Transitions but for something that people pas for i guess everyone wants it to be Destroy-hour on CD2 rather a few strokes and yanks on the dick without getting the job done
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
Lot of gay analogies in this thread.

Thanks for the info, will need to look these up. Can't say that I'd prefer these over a weekly radio show as diggers and guests have produced some gems over the years, that I wouldn't trade for the world. :)

As much as I love the chugging, banging, vortex, mind numbing, destroy mode sets, couldn't agree with you more here Simon!
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
Bottomline, Digweed is a great DJ and we've all come to expect more from him, hence the reactions in this thread. It's not a knock on Digweed but crazy fans tend to be more demanding.

^Yeah, he killed it that night. The first 20 minutes were especially sublime, those records were melting into each other, just perfect.
And that Madben tune remixed by Ian O'donovan destroyed the place at 3am.

Should I go see him in Vegas for the daisy thing ? Bunch of friends are going to it,, I looked at the line up and it seems good, but I am worried about the venue for his show..
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
Has Digweed done a proper mix CD since Transitions 4? I haven't taken much notice, where all the recent mixes Label mixes and Live mixes?
Re: John Digweed - Live in Cordoba
structures 1 cd2 was really good to me...

Bedrock 10 was mixed (using Bedrock remixes from back catalogue) Bedrock 11 was exclusive tracks that John collected and signed to Bedrock/put in the mixes Structures was similar to 11 .. but on a higher level (great package incl. a DVD) Structures 2 was a mixed downtempo CD with speacillay commissioned ambient remixes (plus live CD) Cordoba = 2 x live CDs incl. tracks from other labels.
C - my recommendation is Structures (2 CD mixes and a DVD) at £8 Bedrock Music John Digweed - Structures 2xCD/DVD with WMC Live Mix & Documentary
