Re: Lionel Messi

He could certainly go on to be one of the all-time greats

#1357357Post 4 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

lets have a few more seasons before we dub the guy a legend, he's a very good player, and yes 4 goals against any club is a good show, but come on Almunia isn't exactly one of the worlds top goalies is he?

I'm not saying Messi isn't a great player, but Ronaldo had a season worthy of greatness until he left Man U, now he doesnt seem to be near as good this season, hopefully he comes back strong next year.

Re: Lionel Messi

Leo is already one of the best players, he is simply unbelievable. Alredy better than Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho .... and of course all the englands players ...:)

#1360360Post 6 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

agree with Brazilec, but he needs some more experience. He still cannot do in Argentinian selection the %10 he does in Barcelona.

we're talking footballers here not countries, let's leave that alone

he is a great player, the word legend gets thrown around way to easily is all I was saying

Re: Lionel Messi

Magic magic magic.. Best player i´ve seen in my entire life

Playing like this he will easily become the best player ever imo.. If Argentina wins the world cup, which is almost impossible with fucking Maradona, there´s nothing more he can win (as a team or individually) at the age of 22 - 23 ... Impressive to say the least

Re: Lionel Messi

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/story/_/id/770275/ce/uk/?cc=5901&ver=us "World Cup legend Pele claims that all talk of Lionel Messi being the greatest player in the world must stop until the Argentine scores his 1000th career goal."

Maybe the 1000th career goal is a bit much, but he has some other good points, like being the best player in his own country and helping his country win a world cup...

#1360781Post 11 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

you have to take in account also who he has playing behind him in barcelona, iniesta and xavi are just exquisite handling the football, thats why in argentina messi doesnt shine as much. To even start contemplating messi as the greatest he has to bring home the world cup, with him being the major ,and I mean MAJOR contributor

#1360785Post 12 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

^^^ exactly He IS an amazing talent, and so much fun to watch, but in all sports the media is so quick to start comparing athletes of today to legends, and then when they don't live up to it they're the first ones to rip them apart
To even start contemplating messi as the greatest he has to bring home the world cup, with him being the major ,and I mean MAJOR contributor
Absolutely true... That´s what all is about imo.. You CAN¨T be best player ever without it.. end of..

About Barcelona, ok, Xavi and Iniesta are delicious players but man, he is the best player without any doubt in the best team ever at the age 22.. That´s something huge imo

And Pele.. Do me a favor and STFU .. Goals has nothing to do with this.. Maradona (which is a disgusting person and i personally hate) made 350 goals and there´s a big part of this world who thinks was better player than you.. Or Romario made 650 goals in his carrer.. Is he better than Maradona?? Not even ONE person in the world thinks that..

#1360839Post 15 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

yeah, the goals thing was a bit off.. but as i said he made some good points other than that

22, christ that's scary

He alone has made me interested in football again after years of dis-interest, Truly a genius and dare I say potentially the greatest football player that has ever lived..

lmao, well, out him in a match against a better opponent than Arsenal and he's invisible, well, excpet for knocking out his opponents tooth

Re: Lionel Messi

Well, best player in the world at the moment, against the best manager in the world... and what I have to ask is, does anyone know if Messi has found his way out of Mourinho´s pocket yet?

And what about Zanetti? Christ, the guy´s older than me and still plays like he´s 25, what an amazing, amazing player!

#1363504Post 21 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

zanetti runs like he is still 19 years old, plus with the experience he has he can play 3 to 4 different possitions

#1363515Post 22 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

^^ Agree.. And fucking Maradrug doesn´t seems to care about it

Pretty confident about Barcelona playing at Camp Nou.. They will win the cup again imo.. If not, Inter is a wonderfull team and deserves it aswell

#1363616Post 23 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

I don't know, the return leg will be interesting, Mourinho has Inter playing very well..it was very disappointing but not surprising to see Messi be a non factour this week, he is great but still has a ways to go before can be called one of the best ever, he is young, and I do not doubt he will get there :)

#1364249Post 24 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

the boy has golden feet and if he keeps going at this rate he will be one of the all time greats, at the moment lets just settle for best player in the world!

Hmm... So I guess you take Rooney as the best player right now?

But even Rooney said Messi is top dog at the moment...

I´m Portuguese so I guess it´s kinda obvious that Cristiano Ronaldo is my favourite, I have a soft spot for Rooney too, but I just have to admit that for now, Messi is on a superior level.

#1364819Post 27 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

I didnt say that did I? I think on any given day messi, ronaldo or rooney could be considered the best in the world.. none of them have jumped ahead.. but until rooney got hurt against bayern he was definitely in the conversation

i think we will know more after the world cup

#1364883Post 28 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

All I know is, i'm looking forward to the return leg, with a Heinoken in the hand 8)

We'll see what Messi is made of when the heat is on ;)

Re: Lionel Messi

that's going to be a great match for sure, and for whatever reason, probably because I respect Mourinho as a manager, I'd love to see Barca get knocked out tomorrow

but, I really want to see Bayern get beat today

Who would have thought Lyon could make the final?

Not a big fan of Bayern either

If Inter do go through, Mourinho will end up in huge demand. Would love to see him go to Liverpool..

Re: Lionel Messi

I didn't really think they had a chance, I just can't stand Bayern , though Inter v Beyern will be a better final

#1365294Post 36 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

He did everything he could.. Don´t be unfair with him or Barsa.. After all they can´t win every tournament out there... Imo Messi still is the best player of the year and not afraid to say in the world too.. Inter is a great team so they deserve the final after all.. In fact would be a fair champion

Messi will have a serious test in the world cup... Let´s see what happens ..

#1365380Post 37 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

no they can't win everything, no one expects them to, but playing at home with a man advantage and 84% possesion you expect a bit more, and in back to back matches he did fuck all, so don't be afraid to say he was shit for two games, even the good ones have off days

#1365411Post 38 of 195

Re: Lionel Messi

All i can say is that inter played their game very well ,one man down and wining by 2 goals in the Nou camp anybody would have played the way inter played, Inter's defensive play, from the goalkeeper up to Eto'o, was superb.

Regarding messi or anyteam in the world I think its clear now that not only talent makes a team , I think this will put his feet on the ground for the world cup and hopefully Argentina will win it .
