Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I think eventually Germany are gonna beat the Netherlands after winning against Spain tomorrow. Who thinks the Netherlands are definitely able to beat Germany and why?

#1388644Post 723 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

IMO if Germany wins against Spain they will be champions... That is the final for them but again all is relative on soccer

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I don't think it was offside, he didn't appear to be offside when the ball was hit, lines men are supposed to give the benefit to the attacker, and then it deflected off of two defenders.. it was close for sure, and had it been called I don't think it would have been the most controversial call in the world cup thus far

as far as Germany and Holland.. the Dutch seem to go through spells where they lose a bit of concentration, and I've yet to see that from the Germans.. if Germany get by Spain tomorrow, as much as I'd like to see Holland win (nothing against Germany), they are going to have to be on form for the full 90 plus minutes.. and they deffo can't have any lapses in goal like on Forlan's strike today.. it was a great goal, but my god, you've got to be expecting a shot from any where, and the keeper appeared to be way too far off of his line for how unpredictable that ball is

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Paraguay's keeper looked like he had been bribed to throw the game. I kid, but seriously, what's the history with that goalie?

#1388660Post 726 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Uruguay? no clue, why do you say that? I missed the first goal, but I don't see how he could have saved the other two.. 2 deflections and a header completely the other side of the goal, there was no way he was getting to Robben's goal

#1388669Post 727 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

their goalie took out a couple of good shots. vanbron's shot was not deflected it was pure power and aerodynamics wow, and robbens was just beautiful. persie didnt touch the ball so it couldnt have been offside, im glad the side referees didnt mistake it and lift their flags. i think that neth. has a good chance of winning against either spain or ger, def ger will be a tougher game for them, coz of the speed and team play of the germans, but again its the same kinda football nethr play so it will be a real tight one, wont be surprised if it went to penalties.

#1388670Post 728 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I didn't say Giovanni Van Bronckhorst's goal was deflected, I said I didn't see it, but the next one was deflected twice :)

Robben's was great wasn't it, changing direction and heading it far post, no chance for the goalie

van persie was in the goalie's line of sight which I think was the question, not whether he touched it or not.. but when the ball was played he was onside then it was deflected, therefore not offside.. I think that's how the law reads

I really hope the final doesn't go to penalties, but the way GER, ESP and NED are scoring goals, I don't see that :)

this will be the first time a European country has won the world cup away from their home continent :)
Fantastic goals from both Van Bronckhorst and Forlan!
Bronckhorst's was the goal of the tournament so far. Top shelf from 35 yards out.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

well there's this.
For all World Cup Fans...

  Check it out.. .

  1. Brazil won the World Cup in 1994; before that they also won in 1970.
  Adding1970 + 1994= 3964

  2. Argentina won its last World Cup in 1986; before that they also won in 1978.
  Adding 1978 + 1986= 3964

  3. Germany won its last World Cup in 1990; before that they also won in 1974.
  Adding 1974 + 1990= 3964

  4. Brazil also won the World Cup in 2002; before that they also won in 1962.
  Adding 1962+ 2002= 3964

Therefore if you want to know what nation is going to win the World Cup in 2010,

you only have to subtract 2010 from the magic number that we have determined: 3964.

  3964 minus 2010 = 1954...

In 1954 the World Cup was won by Germany !!!

Probably not scientific... but pretty interesting......
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I always enjoy reading transfer rumours around world cup time, I think club owners need to relax a bit and not make knee jerk transfer offers because someone scored a few goals in the world cup.. granted it's a great accomplishment to score for your country, but international success doesn't always equate to club level success and vice versa.. just reading about Klose and his deal possibly falling through with West Ham :-\

1990 + 1974 - 1954 = 2010 !!! xD

Spain were just a bit better today.. oh well, will be a great final!

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Although Germany did have the odd chance Spain's passing game was the difference. The second half was one way traffic.

I have a screen shot of a conversation with Tom on MSN, I'm sure he'll cringe when he see's it

Final will be great... Both teams are head to head.. the one that has a better day will win...

FIFA sell their world cup sell their tickets a long time before it gets started, maybe they were hedging their bets on Israel being there.

sure after Spain got their goal and Germany were pressing yes it could have been 3-0.. Torres should have had one had he got the ball when he was wide open.. destroyed? I don't know about that, they deffo had a lot of possession and handled the counter attack nicely.. destroyed would be what Germany did to Australia, England and Argentina, lol

#1388906Post 752 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

well i see that they got destroyed and not just beat coz spain was in control the whole game and ger game was completely blocked except for a couple of chances, so to get them from what they did to arg and eng to this must be destroying then, they def did a good effort tho throughout the the wc and i thought they had it for a min too. puyol took it by force

Just very good, controlled, patient football won the day. Fair play to Spain for beating a German side that was beginning to look unbeatable.

Final really does look good. At the same time i've got to say Germany have been fucking class. For a lesson in defending as a unit and attacking as a unit i'd say look no further, i've really enjoyed the way they've gone about their business.

I thought both sides looked very good tonight and it could so easily have gone either way. Gettiing that first goal is always the key in games this tight imo.

exactly why I was saying destroyed is a bit harsh, lions share of possession, yes, destroyed, not in my opinion.. Germany were definitely fun to watch, and I hope they do go for it on Saturday

I wonder how different it would have been had Mueller been there? Still think his yellow was a bit harsh after the hand ball on Uruguay went with out a yellow

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

well i have to admit, spain was the better team last night. nevertheless we just sucked, playing so passively and not daring shit... i mean, come on we can't stay back all game and hope for a counter which we then, don't even use!!! wtf... sad play from us in my eyes, why did loew have to change our game play by 180 degrees. or probably it was lahm's recent statement about keeping the captain position and the dispute with ballack, i guess that could have brought some trouble into the team. most stupid time to mention stuff like that... -.- tribute to spain, their best game in this tournament yet! now they'll only have to beat the oranges! gogogogo :)
