Re: Hey Yankee fans
objective die hard yanks fan here, (grew up watching DONNIE baseball in the dark days of the yanks, even though they won more games than any other team during the 80's) and i will say that we should be afraid of the sox this year, they have just as good a team, with the exception of pedro who we tend to beat up, but wakefeild equally kills us. it will come down to our lineup out hitting them in the clutch, because manny and ortiz, or as john kerry says, manny ortes(one player, his favorite, ....putz), can both break a game at any moment. we need jeter and arod to play table setters and sheff and matsui be be rbi guys, not homer hitters. the bull pens are both insane, but you have to give the yanks the edge there, MARIANO. dont argue, maybe you can talk when his postseason ERA goes over 1.0 , but until then dont. foulke embrey and timlin will be given the balll at least twice with a lead and its up to them to beat the yanks, not the other way around. the sox, have to have damon(most underrated player btw) do his thing and meinkawitz(???) cant be the strikeout king he is. otherwise the runs manny and david will have a chance to score are themselves.
evening things out, both jeter and varitek will make a game winning play in a game. ill put money on that. they are gamers and it will show through. also count on a few key plays from matsui and nixon on both sides. also , you cant forget that bernie is still one of the toughest outs to get in baseball, and sierra has the game breaking ability that ortiz does.
also there will be a fight or two, and the most interesting thing will be when arod and sheffeild have there second at bats against pedro in game 2, odds are that will be a fight, because pedro will drill one of them if we have scored a run by then
however, subjectively speaking, you have to have faith in history, as the sox have never beaten the yanks when it matters most. we can only hope for histroy to keep up. there are ghosts in the bronx, i was there game 7 last year when a guy who was 0 for the series came up against a knuckler and hit a first pitch into the stands.
go yanks, lets pull this one out. it's gonna be tough.
