Re: Euro 2008

franve/romania was a bit disappointing, hope the next match is better.

I honestly dont get how people can switch nationality to play for a country.. especially when Podolski is clearly good enough to play for Poland, and could have really helped them.

Re: Euro 2008

hahahaha, thats good :) though it should have been an italian car IMO, lol

i want to know when the pics of the fit birds in the stands are going to start popping up!

#1032841Post 44 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

wow, Italy got screwed on that first goal.. but the second, what a brilliant counter attack!

#1032842Post 45 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

yeah they got robbed there... doubt italy and france are making it out of the groups tho :D

dutch are playing best football ive seen this euro so far

#1032845Post 46 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

^^ I agree, they look very fluid and confident.. maybe Cannavaro not being there is a bigger impact than they thought

#1032866Post 47 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

i agree, they missed cannavaro. altho in the 2nd half the italians played much better, just couldnt seem to score..

like i said, italy and france, out?

#1032867Post 48 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

wow, guess that non call on the 1st goal doesnt really matter. Nice to see the Dutch continue to attack even after being up 2-0. Might Italy not make it out of the group?

#1032871Post 49 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

yeah there have been a couple of bad calls already at this euro...

yeah i think italy is stuck. even if they beat romania, the dutch will definitely beat france, and holland will play their reserves with romania -> they'd rather see romania advance because they might play the runner-up in the semis and im sure they'd rather play romania than france or italy...

#1032874Post 50 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

Fantastic performance by the Dutch ... 2 classic counter attacking moves - total football !

#1032883Post 51 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

btw, is it just me or the romanian fans were the loudest and strongest out of all so far? they were loud and chanting till the very end...

EDIT: the first dutch goal was 100% legit. Fifa Rule 11 says a player cannot create an offside position by going out of bounds. One of the Italian defenders (Panucci) was behind the goal line, to the right of the Italian goal (from Buffon's perspective) at the moment Van Nistelrooy scored the 1-0. He was injured from a contact with Buffon following a "head-ball".

#1032896Post 52 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

i was wondering about that.. thats a good call then and the italians jsut got their arses handed to them for 90 minutes, jsut about completely outclassed.. and yes the Dutch counter attack and Van Der Sar are going to be tough to beat.

Re: Euro 2008

SHIT!! Italy lost big time!!!!! 3-0

#1032967Post 54 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

looks like todays matches should be pretty good.. I wonder if Torres is going make people forget that Raul was left home :)

well i guess he already has... russia cannot keep up with torres and david villa

#1033089Post 57 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

Spain plays actually pretty good..I am sure the 2:0 isn't the last goal in this match.

#1033103Post 58 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

david villa.. wow, some quality football by two typically under achieving countries in Holland and Spain.. very well done!

I love to see Hiddink get his arse handed to him

#1033106Post 59 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

russians look exhausted, they barely managed to score just now against spains weak defense. russians played well in the first 15-20 minutes and then they went downhill...

lets see how far spain gets this time before they choke :D

#1033115Post 60 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

^^That would be the quaterfinals

#1033150Post 61 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

Russians could play better. They underestimate one's opponents. Spain is a strong team showed a good game today.

lol... sad but true...

the greeks are playing like shit, swedes are going to have their way with them in the 2nd half

Re: Euro 2008

although portugal won 3-1, they didnt impress me. defense looked weak, dont think they can win it all

#1033521Post 64 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

I somewhat agree.. the Czechs definitely had their chances, and I dont see Portugal at this point getting past Germany if they meet in the quarters, which they should you would think,

But this match definitely turned almost immediately within the minute or so the Czechs missed that golden chance and then at the other end Ronaldo buried his shot to go 2-1

#1033552Post 65 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

wow what an ending for the turks. that was the first goal that i was actually happy for, what a game has been set up for sunday: czechs - turks... cant wait

Re: Euro 2008

fanzones,

here in vienna there is nothing going on in the fanzone. except for the austrian and german games there are no people and a very chilling atmosphere.

the salesmen are blaming the city of vienna, because they are up to 90% under the expected gain. they have to pay like 40.000€ for hiring a stand and they are selling nothing (ok...one beer costs 4,50€). the funny thing is, the zone is opening at 9 o clock in the morning and there were thousands of crazy supporters expected to drink loads of beer from the morning to the evening. fact is: midday you see 5 other people there and nothing more. i think it would be quite a difference if england would have taken part in the cup:p.

Re: Euro 2008

^^ that's a shame, Drucki. Having the World Championship here in Germany in 2006 was one of the best experiences I ever had. Four weeks, whole Frankfurt (and each other citiy in Germany) was in a state of emergency and you saw partying people everywhere..1000s of them...all nations together and all here for the same reason...fantastic and I still get shivers when I think back.

Yesterday's evening game was FANTASTIC. What a fight..that's how football should be. I am already waiting for our next Game against Croatia because they are the best opponent in our group.

Re: Euro 2008

next time they should pick a host nation(s) that actually has a chance to win a match at least

well lets see... WC 2010 - South Africa - FAIL Euro 2012 - Poland & Ukraine - FAIL WC - 2014 - Brazil - WIN

Re: Euro 2008

what a hell of a save on that penalty.. shouldnt have even been a penalty imo
what a hell of a save on that penalty.. shouldnt have even been a penalty imo
dunno man, i'm kinda biased here, but he did grab him... still surprised the refs didnt go against romania as they usually do. hell of a match, if that fuckin cokehead mutu would have just shot better on that pk. the romanian GK played fantastic, saved at least 3-4 goals.

now as long as the dutch beet the fuckin french pussies, we're good!

#1033936Post 78 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

Italy sucks this year.. worst Italian team put together in years

#1033937Post 79 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

after replays, it looks a bit closer to a pk i agree.. still a great save tho.. most goalies would have already been out of the way but to get a hand and a foot on it.. if it werent for that "cokehead" they wouldnt have even got a point out of it.. they shouldnt have got a point anyway, that disallowed goal was NOT offside

mutu should have not taken the pk, he was too tired and sometimes chokes. but altruism is a word he doesnt know, so he took it. im glad he got subbed afterward as he wasnt playing much.

as far as the disallowed goal goes, i thought it was an offside, but i'll have to look at the replays again.
