Hope it will be great!

Going there! Already both tickets for the group stages...

Great show, although Switzerland and Austria are a bit boring in the summer time!

So who's gonna win the final?

Re: Euro 2008

Italy, providing Cassano gets picked and cleans up his act. But his 5 match suspension might have killed all hope of him going to TBH.

Re: Euro 2008

spain are the biggest choker's ever, every tournament ends the same way, there seems to be no team spirit, pity because they prob have best squad in it..

Re: Euro 2008

Only a few days to go..new tv installed, beer and snacks are bought, I took part in three different betting rounds and weekend is completely set with barbeque and friends meetup..Exitment for Euro 2008 is slowly but steadily increasing.

Re: Euro 2008

christ Tom, I'll be surprised if you lot give up a goal in the group stages.. Croatia is your biggest challenge I'd say

well, look like Italy just took a big hit possibly losing Cannavaro

#1028558Post 21 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

Yeah making it beyond the group stage shouldn't be a problem..if it is a problem our newspapers will be flooded with it for months. It sucks that England isn't part of it and I don't mean it cynical but something is just missing that HAS to be there.....

#1028594Post 22 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

yeah, even tho they didnt really deserve it, well, the players did, the mgr completely messed it up.. still tho, im loking forward to watching the group matches with italy, holland, france and romania.. thats a hell of a group

#1028626Post 23 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

sorry steve but if you only blame mclaren for us not getting there then take off those rose tinted glasses

the players were as much to blame as the gaffer

#1028637Post 24 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

I'm saying as players they deserve to compete against the best in these tourneys.. did they earn it? of course not

#1028640Post 25 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

they dont deserve to at all , what just coz we are england?

if they did we would of been there?

Re: Euro 2008

i really shouldnt try and have a valid debate when i've had a drink haha

#1028757Post 28 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

I dunno whats been going in the the England team of late, they never seem to want to win. The 2 performances against the USA and Trinidad and Tobago recently were pretty shite to be fair. Getting paid to much imo.

#1028779Post 29 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

^^^ lol.. they won both, did what they needed, im sure they are not to chuffed about playing tune up matches for WC quals when for all intents and purposes they should be playing in the Euro 2008.. and i mean, it WAS USA and TnT.. how amped up were they meant to be?

Adz.. the job of a mgr is to put the players in the best situation to win and get the most out of his players.. Mclaren did neither, so yes he did have a lot to do with them not making the tourney, just as Sven had a lot to do with prior failures.

Trust me, I completely agree that a lot of the players over the past 8 years or so have had this feeling of entitlement and came across like they care more about what they are buying at the shops than what they are doing on the pitch.. BUT that also comes from a gaffer that never really made said players work for their places on the squad, so the players became complacent, which unfortunately why wouldnt they?

Becks for instance should have been dropped a long time ago, because when he finally was he came back better than he has been in years.. anyway..

the tourney will be fun, watching the teams arrive last nght made me get a bit excited for this actually.. looking forward to italy v holland and france v italy

on a side WTF is Raul not on the squad for?

#1028786Post 30 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

exactly they beat what was put infront of them and i like Fabio and think he will do a good job.

i am a bit worried that there doesnt seem to be that much young talent coming through after Rooney

#1028791Post 31 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

Yes, even tho it would be nice to have an Englishman run the team, it's nice to have someone in charge that can be objective and put out the best players regardless of name and/or stature.

You're right tho, not a lot of promise for the future, which is why this 5 foreign player rule scares me a bit

but, to be honest, Rooney has been a bit of a let down the past two or so seasons.. and i think that has a lot to do with Ronaldo being on his club team.. i think Man U as a whole will be better TEAM with out Ronaldo WHEN he goes to RM (we all know he is) and hopefully Rooney wil find his scoring touch again.

Re: Euro 2008

thats awesome...

1st game was pretty good, 2nd half was very disputed. I'd say the players of the game were Petr Cech and the Ref :D

Re: Euro 2008

yeah good start day and no match without goals. Turkey was weak though..expected more from them.

#1029645Post 37 of 184

Re: Euro 2008

I agree I thought Turkey would have been a bit better and to be honest that match also could have been 3-4 nil

I'm looking forward to poland v germany, and both of tomorrows matches!

what's EM?

btw, nice match from the deutsch... funny how podolski wouldnt celebrate cause he was a pole haha. 2nd goal volley was superb.
Romania vs. France 0:0.
hey better with our asses in the goal than to be offensive and lose on some counter-attack goals... we didnt play much, mutu and chivu played like shit. mutu had 2-3 bright moments and that was it and they kept feeding the ball to him instead of going to the right... i hope we can beat the dutch and maybe get another point from the spaghettios and then go on and win it all!!!
