Re: NFL Playoffs

and a huge NY

fuck you to you sir . the saints and jets are great surprises this year and deserve all the accolades. both teams were written off in the pre season and both teams over acheived to a great lvl. rookie coaches, QB's off injuries, the saints have the running backs and colsten, the jets have the trio of recievers in carrens, coles and cocchery. with the two big rookies up front in mangold and fergusen.

go jets, go saints

and a note to the NFL as a whole, if the saints go all the way, show some class and have the game in NOLA. that would go beyond sports and into a sign of humanity and do a ton for the region, garnering nothing but respect from every single one of your target audience.

The Saints, obviously a great story that even people outside of football ought to care about, but the Jets? Who really cares? I mean, honestly, every team has a story to tell -- nothing about the Jets' season is worthy of anything more than a Sportscenter vignette, at least as compared to the other teams (apart from the Saints).

Note to Sean: just because something is related to NY sports doesn't mean the rest of us are obliged to give a shit about it. ;)

The Jets? FFS. No story there, don't even see how you can put them in the same sentence as the Saints.

Rookie head coach facing his mentor in the playoffs, a man who gave him his start in the NFL. Anonymous underachiever David of a team facing the ultimate Goliath, the only modern day NFL Dynasty we may ever see.

A team that started the season with no QB, no RB, and a single WR, who despite all odds accomplishes a 10-6 record, going 6-2 since the bye, earning their way into the playoffs.

Classic Cinderella/Underdog- that's always a good story.

Look, I said, "GO CHIEFS," and I meant it, but I'm not an idiot, I am well aware that they are lucky to have made the playoffs and aren't likely to go very far this year. On the other hand, I'm not the one telling everyone here that the Chiefs have a great story, that everyone should be basking in their glory, none of that. Pulling for your team is one thing, having unrealistic and egocentric opinions about your team is another.

If you really think that the Jets present the league's most interesting story -- or even an interesting story -- to anyone outside of New York, though, you really need to get out more. I think about the Jets and I just yawn.

Re: NFL Playoffs

Until a hurricane or disaster destroys New York, and your city's only light is rallying around a football team that has been shit for years, and suddenly rides to glory on the hopes and dreams of thousands of poor and unemployed...sorry, not much of a comparison for a story.

the pats will lose to san diego. im sorry, but tomlinson is just too good.

pats safety harrison out for this week. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2718549

im not denying the NOLA hurricane event, im just talking on the feild stuff. i dont give a damn that a shitload of bums didnt see a storm half the size of this country coming after being warned for a week.

both teams have a ton of similarities. from coach to rookie impact.

Re: NFL Playoffs

San Diego is a machine, no doubt, but if KC pulls the upset at Indy and we take care of the Jets, then we'd go to Baltimore in Round 2 - and I like our chances vs. the Ravens much more than I do against the Bolts.

The Harrison news does hurt, but if we make it to the AFC championship game all bets are off - home or away, against whomever, we'll take it down. 4 rings in 6 years and definite dynasty status.

But one game at a time - and I am going to be the biggest Chiefs fan come saturday.

#780736Post 22 of 168

Re: NFL Playoffs

hell yeah they are a dynasty already. and brady is young, as well as bill, they should stick together, they have a great GM, and an ownership group that keeps quiet until trophy time. as a jet fan , i should hate the pats like the dolphins, but i cant, i wish all my teams took thier approach. and when brady re-negotiated his contract down..... wow. i cant hate em, i admire everything about them from owner to player.

and we all know, when its playoff time in new england, they usually win.

just ignore toassty and jenks, they seemingly get into sports when st lou teams are in it. quiet all baseball season until the cards fell ass backward into the playoffs, and not once did they mention footy until yesterday, when another st lou team falls in by default. i guess we should be fearing larry johnson with st lou's track record of shit teams winning in this year's sporting seasons...

Larry Johnson plays for the Chiefs not the Rams, you fucking idiot.

Trust me on this, Marty Schottenheimer will figure out a way to squander this. Man do I hate that guy. That dude was personally responsible for an unlimited supply of misery for me when he was heading up the Chiefs. Worst playoff coach ever. 5-12 in the playoffs, and in 12 post-season runs, he's been bounced in the first round 8 times.

yup. somehow, LT will only rush for 38 yards on 7 carries in the superbowl. and ocunt on about 6 feild goals.

Re: NFL Playoffs

Colts can not stop the running game ... Johnson will have a hay day. Of course I think it will be a high firing game. Being that ... Run vs throw ... I think Colts will pull this off.

Seattle over Dallas ... and this one is close, and pretty much give it to Seattle because of home field.

Pats over the Jets. Jets have been winning off easy games esp last three. And the Pats have been looking very good on both sides of the field.

I am at draw on the Giants and Eagles game. I think any team that comes and plays can win. Eagles with the better record and the harder wins ... from some strange feeling I think the Giants will pull this off at the end.

#780769Post 36 of 168

Re: NFL Playoffs

go eagles.

but yeah, that indy game isnt going to come down to holding larry johnson to 100 yards, but are they going to keep under 250

Remember when they met up in the playoffs a couple of years ago? I think there was not a single punt and only one turnover; both teams otherwise scored on every possession. Although that game was a blast to watch, I hope this game isn't a repeat, because I honestly don't think the Chiefs' O can match Indy's drive for drive this time around...

Re: NFL Playoffs

If Herm plays. to win. the game. he'll tell his kick returners to go no further then the 20 and hand the ball off to LJ 80% of the time. If they absolutly devour the clock and hold the Colts to 6-8 offensive series total, they'll win.

And I would love to see Ty Law pick off Manning at least once - just for old time's sake.
