Re: baseball

a's, son bark bark bark, its still far from over but a's are lookin like a alcs type of team

#722587Post 42 of 321

Re: baseball

the a's got lucky on a stupid error. they should take advantage of their 2-0 lead because the twins are a strong team. i still odn't doubt minnesota until it is said and done.

oh yeah, and the yankees organization needs to do a better job of informing the other team of rain delays :) probably for the best for both teams, imo, that the game was called even though they probably could have played.

#722852Post 56 of 321

Re: baseball

well, the Cards continue their post-season mastery of the Padres. I'll be at the game on Saturday when they hopefully close it out.

Gotta say, after the near collapse at the end of the year, I wasn't really all that pumped for the playoffs, but I'm startin' to feel it again. Here's hoping they can keep their shit together -- with all the injuries and whatnot, no one really looks invincible right now...

Re: baseball

0-11 from the heart of the Yankee lineup ("greatest of all time") Please let me know when I'm supposed to start being impressed. :NotMe:

#723087Post 58 of 321

Re: baseball

ok, so the lineup was shit. it happens. but now ill be fair and real. YOU guys HAVE TO win the NLCS. there is no pass if you lose. the only pass the mets get is if they lose the series to whomever they play. (and look back, do a search, i still have yet to say the yanks are gonna win it all, they simply dont have the pen.)

#723095Post 59 of 321

Re: baseball

I don't want to rag on the Yanks too much, like I've said a dozen times, I want them in the WS. I'm just sick of hearing about their lineup. I hear it all day/everyday so in light of yesterday's game, can we now drop that?? Frankly I think a better tag-line for the Yanks this year is:

"Jeter gets the most help yet!"

As for the Mets, I couldn't agree more.

#723106Post 60 of 321

Re: baseball

well sorry to say , but face it. it might actually be the best lineup ever. to think that the best player in the last 10 years, and arguably ever, is our worst guy there, is so weird but hey, everyone who watches realizes they are capable of blowing up.

but there is a lack of hunger there i dont like. you can see it in the huffin and puffin on arod's face.

detroit is insane. zumaya is nuts and thier kids are great arms. go back, look, i predicted them to take it. (i just cant say it right now as a fan)

Re: baseball

im trying to talk objectively. what you people say back is slanted, as is mine. but that is like me saying because santana hasnt won every start, that he is a shit arm.

break it down. johnny damon- his resume as a leadoff guy is there, his numbers are amoung the best. jeter- do we even need to go there? abreau- solid pure hitter, not powerful, but can hit to all feilds with a high average, and a sick OBS, and even better RISP, leads walks in majors. next year will have 200 RBIs with less than 25 homers. giambi- not the best, but arguably one of the top power hitters and until this year, average hitters, always 1,2, or 3 in walks in the the majors. sheffeild- has played 4 positions superbly, gonna be up there in homers and average, consistent 120 RBI plus guy, usually over 135, hurt this year mid season matsuii- the homerun champ in japan behind atta. huge gamer in postseason, solid hitter above 300, great RISP and RBI numbers. also, hits to all feilds. AROD- this year, its all out the window. but good lord if he ever wakes u-p and realizes what NY is about. to think a year ago, he was considered to be on the path to be the best player EVER. but now... its a crapshoot. maybe he should live with mattingly or paul o neill in the off season and get it in order. posada- outside of pudge, and ignoring what mauer did this year, he is the best offensive, non-pure power catcher out there. piazza hit more homers, but jorge has beter overall numbers and is a sick defensive catcher. HOWEVER< so you cant throw it back at me, mauer is a freak, and better than posada in the batters box. but posada has a knack for big hits in NY. canoe- 3 place batting crown, possible gold glove thisyear. more power than carew.

comon, who you gonna compare? the mantle yanks? rose's reds? even then, they dont compare.

throw away loyalties for a sec and look it up.

Re: baseball

and this is why baseball is #1. all of us talking about it, watching other teams, the unknown, the fact that the yanks are taking this lineup into the games and yet, no one wants to talk about the HOLE in the team we in NY call the bullpen. not to mention, a big unit wiht a bad back, jaret wright/corey liddle long relief.

I will take My Tampa Bay Lightning season tickets over our Bucs tickets any day. I will watch the MLB playoffs other than that I would just keep up with it on SportsCenter. Most likely because our MLB team sucks and imo the Rays' field is terrible. I did go see Kazmir pitch a couple of GREAT games this year thou. I'm not knocking you baseball freaks but give a TV with any NHL game on or tickets to any NHL game and I'm there.

Re: baseball

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My girl is from Michigan and was talking shit all year about the Tigers this and the Tigers that but FUCK!!!!!!!!! I knew they had good pitching in Verlander, Rogers and Bonderman but I would have never expected them to lose game 1 in NY then come back and win the next 3. I'm not a Yankees fan or Tigers fan so I didn't really care who won. Now I have to hear my girl talk shit since her Team is still in he MLB playoffs(my team is the Cubs so I have nothing to say to her about baseball) and her collage team is Michigan who will probably be # 2 in the country behind Ohio State(my team is Miami and they suck all) so I am catching hell!!!! GO OAKLAND!
