Re: World Cup 2006

Well if push comes to shove this may be the time for Theo to show us Why Sven picked him instead of Jermain Defoe.
^ yellows dont carry over, i think?
Correct, but if you get 2 yellows in the first 3 games they do. They don`t carry if you have 1 but then get another in the quarters.

lol imo

#658341Post 339 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

that was fucking awful.

joe cole, owen hargreaves, and rooney were the only players who actually played well. lampard was shit. beckham was shit. crouch was shit. cole was shit. carragher was absolutely shit, possibly the worst player on the pitch for me. terry was shit. campbell completely fucked up on that second goal (poor defence in general but he really fucked the dog.) robinson was shit. ferdinand was okay - why did he get subbed?

gerrard came on and saved us with a goalline clearance and a goal.

our corner defending was nothing less than shocking.

if, as it appears, owen is done for the WC we are in big big big big trouble, not that we may have been in less with him fit.

when we have to play a proper team, we are fucked i fear. but i'll be there cheering us on...

Re: World Cup 2006

i know from picking up injuries playing football that if you have an injury in your foot and you dont let it fully heal (pardon the pun) you compensate for it in other parts of your body i.e you knee. It's owens own fault for being a selfish toe wrag and insisting on going to Germany. He should have stayed at home. what a team player.......... sven is just as bad for picking him. what a shit coach he is and has proven himself to be

Re: World Cup 2006

The damn England team made me loose a tenner in the last minute. :x The resepct I gained for them in the 1st half was destroyed in the 2nd half directly lol.

#658398Post 342 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

Poor preformance last night boys.. Bummer about owen and it sucks that hes injured for 5months. I have to say though J.Coles goal was very good :)

#658421Post 343 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

Coles goal was on of the best in the WC so far imo.

Can someone answer this question? Why is Peter Crouch on the field? Does he even know how to play? I have yet to see him contribute to the team.

#658438Post 344 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

coles goal should have been saved by the keeper. as far as long shots go, rebrovs and lahms were better imo. coles was a good goal tho.

Re: World Cup 2006

Crouch DOES add to the team, hasn't he got 6 goals in 8 games or something. I reckon people watch and watch for him to make one stray pass but forget the previous 20 passes/headers that he has won.

Holland - Argentina: 0 - 0

Pffffffff, B match with B teams

#658870Post 349 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

Well we go now against Argentina, if Mexico dosen´t want to be humiliated they better start playing football insted of saying "we do everything right the ball just dosen´t go in", I must say even i´m mexican and I want Mexico some day to become world champion, something deep inside me wants that Argentina beats the crap out of us something like 6-0 so we finally understand that our league is overrated and overpayed, so we can start working on it as soon as posible and hopefully in 10 or so years we can finally have a good league with good players and a good national team . Thats about 10% of me the other 90% still has hope we can actually win goooooooooo Mexico!!!!!
Holland - Argentina: 0 - 0

I slept in during the Game. :what Shame imo to leave fans who dedicated their summer holidays to this event, travelled 1000+ miles to watch the Games for much money like this. I can understand the concerns if players had a yellow card already but fans want to see their heroes and not players from the B-team.

#658893Post 351 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

the 2nd half was hard to watch. Argentina walked most of the time. 10+ corners and they didn't get any good chances of any of them. They should have made that game their 1st game. It would have been a lot better.

I am glad we are playing Mexico instead of Portugal.
my dad was a fifa ref and he retired before the 1990 world cup and both of his linesmen ended up refing there.
I'd like to hear his response on the PK call against US duing the US/Ghana match. Both players were going for the ball in the box. I'd question the call even if it were called on Ghana.

#658979Post 353 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

that was clearly a bs call... that was no foul, a bit of an obstruction, but thats about it. on the same note, the us played like shit today. ghana, looked ok, but this group had the shittiest games imo.

#658980Post 354 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

^^ It was a "questionable" call but how many of those have there been so far this world cup? anyway, yanks are out and i won my bet saying they wouldn't make it out of the group... all the guinness and jameson i can drink this monday, woohoo!

That was BS call how could he have seen a penalty there?? The defender went for the ball, at least we can now be sure that he wont be making the calls in final.

#659047Post 356 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

Someone can make a case for a foul, but it wasnt a pk foul. but the us played like shit all their games, and ghana showed more determination. Its funny that the us commentators were talking about the strength and speed of the us players as being the key to winning their games. Today they saw what strength and speed really is because thats what beat them.

#659057Post 357 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

it shouldnt have been a penalty.
