Hello everybody, are there any crazy football fans here?

Any one going to see finals in Germany?

My heart is with Poland hope they will reach 2nd round...

Seriously I would like young Holland to take over from Brazil.

Re: World Cup 2006

Damn it, I wanted to start thw official World Cup thread!

Oh well...

Over here, we´re already in full world cup fever since saturday. We had an event called "the most beautiful flag in the world", where about 18.000 women formed the world´s biggest human flag.

Also, just like during Euro 2004, people have started hanging national flags on their windows and balconies. Pretty soon the streets will be full of green and red!

Re: World Cup 2006

I'm not that stoked about it to be honest, although I will watch it. There are some god awful teams in there, who won't do a thing (Japan, Togo, Angola, Poland, Iran) just not worth them even getting on the plane.

No exciting groups either, results should be easy to predict.

Will obviously be better in the knockout stages though

Re: World Cup 2006

Poland was great in qualifying. I expect them to do ok. The Argentina group should be extremely exciting, as well as the US/Italy group, and the England group.

I so pumped for the tournament!! I hope Spain can do well, and the I'm rooting for Holland and the Czech Republic as well!!

Re: World Cup 2006

i dont know why i was conviced that the world cup was in torino..was that the winter olympics we just had..

anyways.. i thought this year my home country of venezuela would finally make it but in true venezuelan fashion they choked in qualifyers..

hystorically i root for brazil but my heart is always with the USA.... good thng i got a brand new 52 inch tv!! check this page out..it talks about every world cup that has been played http://soccernet.espn.go.com/history?league=fifa.world&lpos=wcnav&lid=gn_sn_WC+history&cc=5901

Is it common behaviour that people from ireland are for England if they dont get on WC board?

@ greg whelan. Its gonna be even more exiting for me if underdogs like Poland will reach ie. England in 2nd round. I will be already satisfied with it....on the other side, for England its gonna be just the beggining of real tournament.

that is why this event rules

BTW Germans had back to shape after were defeated by Italy, those are not good news...

IMO Carlitos Tevez will be WC Superstar, any of your proposals?

nope but Liverpool are my passion aswell as watching the premiership all the time so why wouldnt I support them

#643437Post 13 of 725

Re: World Cup 2006

Well, besides my own squad, I traditionally support England and Argentina.

If ome of you remember recent WC history, this has left me divided in a number of occasions.

Also, since I lived in Spain for a few months in 2004/2005, I´d like to see them do well too.

Re: World Cup 2006

^ I reiterate my original point, can't see many decent games in the 1st two weeks to be honest.

And i stand by my poland comment. I look at teams like ireland (my team) and think that at least their presence would colour the tournament somewhat. Who would you rather watch as a neutral? Rep of Eire or Togo/Angola/Poland/South korea?

^^ double true dat! Bit of good news for US footie fans in that Vladimir Smicer is out for the Czechs... not a huge surprise but I'll take it. That and Italy's ever growing scandal can't be a good thing for them either, despite what they're saying.
