Re: BASEBALL is Back!

If the Cubs could get their pitching healthy for a solid year they would be the team to beat. Wood and Prior are nasty but they are always on the dl. Oh well go Cubbies!!!!!!

#602345Post 43 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

cubs suck they have nothing going for them, prior will never be healthy
They will win the central this year.
Dude, that is rich!!!

Once again, the road to the NL Central pennant runs directly through St. Louis.

if IFS and BUTS were candy and nuts, we'd all have a happy christmas.

the cubs are doomed every year because of two words-

Dusty Baker

#602399Post 50 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

Huh. I thought those two words were going to be:

"Cubs Suck"

:NotMe:

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

there are actually about a thousand words, but you've hit the nail on the head with the best two.

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

any of you cubs fans drink "old style" beer, they imported that beer to the cubs spring training facility in arizona for their fans, i thought that was preety badass
any of you cubs fans drink "old style" beer, they imported that beer to the cubs spring training facility in arizona for their fans, i thought that was preety badass
Or pathetic, depending upon how you look at it. Ever drink that swill? The idea that anyone would have to go out of their way at all so that someone can drink a can of Old Style boggles the mind.

#602416Post 55 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

The only gutter beer i can drink is PBR. PBR just brings a certain unexplainable sort of coolness along with it. Don't know what it is, but if you're holding a can of PBR, you're BALLIN' imo.

#602428Post 56 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

in the arizona heaat, a beer that taste like water is all i want, i like old style just becasue i never heard of it before, and that they only have it in chi town

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

#602440Post 58 of 126

gotta love that. Guinness is the best beer on the planet.

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

On the beer subject, I'd like to take one & pour it over Johnny Damon's head.. You choose the flavor & I'll dump it. It just Does NOT seem right seeing him as a Yankee... & that clean cut, short hair look on him....He sold us out... I hope he visits New England while I'm home visiting my family & that's when I'll pour the beer on him...

#602480Post 61 of 126

Thesightless, how'd you like the A's come back two nights in a row to bet the Yanks? Still think your trillion dollar payroll is worth it?

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

LRN, that good. lol

but you guys will make it to the playoffs and lose in the first round yet again like the rest of the billy bean era. we should be in good shape bearing our pitching staff staying somewhat healthy and aaron smnall getting another shot at going 10-0. but for some reason they wont start him after he saved our season last year.

yanks need to stop playing big ball and learn to hit doubles and ropes.

#602999Post 71 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

^^^^^^^^ yanks need Gooden back.......:Nice:

#603000Post 72 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

and tseasan , yeah our payroll is worth it. we own 1/4 of the championships rings, a lot more pennants, and have made the playoffs going on 11 years in a row now. you cant win everything but we have a chance every year. so yeah. the payroll is worht it.

and to all you retards who bitch about the payroll, ill say the same thing i said last year. show up to ur parks so ur team can afford to spend. blame me and the other 10 million yanks fans aorund the states and canada who go to the gammes, buy thier merchandise and support them. the boss has never paid a penny out of his pocket , we do. if the cards had 82 sellouts and averaged 55k a game they would have arod and puljos on the corners and even better pitching than they already do.

#603003Post 73 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

the yankees pitching staff sucks, definatly not payoff caliber, second time through the order last night and the night before, mussina and wang got crushed (for a's standards) and now your sending up chacon, that guy sucks oh and btw i totaly called that triple buy bradley, i knew that n00b would throw a 3-2 fastball right in his wheel house.

#603041Post 74 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!
. if the cards had 82 sellouts and averaged 55k a game they would have arod and puljos on the corners and even better pitching than they already do.
Easy there punchy...

The cards are selling out with a LOT less payroll. Nearly every game is already sold out for the season. (and i'd take a healthy Rolen over ARod anyday.)

What you get here is hussle baseball, and money can't buy that. We get the most out of our players, where as the yankees imo don't get what they pay for. Perfect example - with all those primadon-...er...ahem..allstars, did you see that pathetic weak ass fielding last night against the A's? The yanks suffer from being too talented, and they just assume they're going to win, going to get that ball in the corner, going to get that extra base, and it just doesn't happen. Not knocking their talent, just saying, they sure could play some cleaner ball.

They'll be right in the hunt for the championship, no doubt. But with that lineup, they should be smoking everyone, 115+ wins...and it's not happening.

#603047Post 75 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

rolan is a far superior feilder then a-bro, but you ahve to admit it, the cards being the top of the nl have not chance against the al, the american leage is way better then the national leage, this season and that past few seasons.

#603055Post 76 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

I can't argue with stats, and the AL has had the NL's number the past few years, and no matter who was there last year, or the year before, the AL was nearly unhittable in the Series (And anyone writing off aWhiteSox repeat this year needs a head check.) Finger's crossed for the NL this year tho! meh on AL ball. The pitcher must BAT. I will never concede to that.

It's just great to live in St.Louis if you're a baseball fan. Intelligent fans, a new park, and just damn good baseball. Wether we win it all isn't necessarily everything to me (although it's definitely icing on the cake), it's how the game is played, and the level at which we compete.

#603058Post 77 of 126

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

same shit for NY and the yanks.

however. you would be nuts to take rolen over AROD, rolen isnt even going to be considered for the hall, but AROD will walk in first ballot if he retires tomorrow. and he isnt that much a better feilder (arod was in gold glove contention for the last 3 years) and arod's bat is a lot better. but i would sell my soul to get puljos or even ekstein. i love eksteins game. like charlie hustle all over again(not nearly the batter though) but the kid just plays tough, energetic ball.

also the whole pitcher must bat thing,,...... the NL uses the DH in the spring....... they need to get rid of that if they want to harp on that.

Re: BASEBALL is Back!

no i remeber mulder saying when he left the a's that that town is jsut rediulous, oakl fans are great but we dont have the masses coming out to everygame

i think a-rod is too diliberat/slow and tall to make the plays chavey or rolan make at 3rd

i think the same exact way. they need to get back to doubles and singles and tell giambi and arod to start hitting more ropes instead of fly balls.
