Re: NBA Finals

2-1, extremely rough game from the pistons.

what will they do next game? use guns? :P

#436392Post 42 of 80

That might make the ratings go up.

Re: NBA Finals
all you have to say is that the TV ratings are down 27% FROM LAST YEAR AND those figures were already a 4 year decline as well.
Dude, WHO CARES!!!! All you have done is give us reason why the average person is not watching these games. Who gives a fuck if Joe Schmoe who only knows 3 players in the entire league isn't watching because the Spurs are "boring??" Last time I looked each home arena is sold to capacity, the teams are fired up and enough people (us) are into it. Ratings go up, ratings go down, what does it have to do with the game and who eventually wins??

There is an excellent article in the new ESPN the magazine about the "boring" Spurs. They might be the most self-assured, confident TEAM I have ever seen. Tim Duncan knows he is not a "flashy" player who will end up on every highlight reel, but his numbers will. And how many rings is he working on...3? How many does gangsta badass Iverson have...0? How many will he have when he retires...0. How many has Kobe generated on his own, which is how he wanted things...0. In the era of the primaddona gangsta balla they make take pride in team play, unselfishness, playing fundamental ball, defense and oh yeah, winning championships. Who cares if the average idiot who watches sports 3 times a year (Superbowl, Finals and World Series) doesn't "get it." ESPN gladly offers the X-Games to satisfy their need for high flying antics. I'll take real basketball anyday.

One more thing: Manu Ginobili is the new Larry Bird. He might be one of the young shining lights the league will ride for the next 10 years. And with his attitude, self-sacrificing play and skill, he deserves every bit of the attention he's getting. What an asset to the league.

#436625Post 46 of 80

Well the average guy in LA might like to watch the NBA next year with Phil Jackson coming back to try and coach a rapist and have it turn into a soap opera.

#436719Post 47 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

manu ginobili the next larry bird?

wow. give it some time before you say that. only about 5 players ever at birds lvl imo.

jordan robertson chamberlin russel west.

the rest have a ways to go to reach that plateau.

Re: NBA Finals

In terms of being an unselfish, all-around gifted and physical player, yes. Mark my words.

#436761Post 49 of 80

People will start saying the same thing about Lebron James once he actually has some people on his team to play with. He's a good team player, but right now he's just on another high school team that happens to be in the NBA.

#436778Post 50 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

ginobili is a loose cannon and will never be able to call him Bird or whatever.. he is a dirty player by using his feet all the time to trip when he is defending.. and a diver.. he is good but not great.

About the game the pistons came out and did what they had to do out-hustle the spurs. as for tony paker why hasn't he got hurt yet driving to the lane that much for a small man? Where are the bad boys? Either way the pistons played well and winning is all that matters..
as for tony paker why hasn't he got hurt yet driving to the lane that much for a small man?
Well he did get clobbered in the face by somebody. I think it was Ben Wallace's elbow.

#436788Post 52 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

chauncey's elbow.. if it was ben's he would be seriously hurt

#436796Post 53 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

yeah, Ben wallace would have knocked him out. leave it at ben wallace is the only guy who can play physical with shaq. guy is a monster. biggest shoulders i have ever seen. massive human being.

#436801Post 54 of 80

With his fro, he doesn't even have to use his hands to guard Shaq.

#436813Post 55 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

biggest human being i've ever seen is Shaun Rogers plays for the detroit lions.. just a massive individual.. i have never seen shaq in real life.

#436896Post 56 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

i met shaq at the atlanta olympics. also have seen him at ESPN restauraunt in disney. BIGGEST HUMAN EVER.

Dirty?? Umm...Ok. I'll just leave it at that. Loose cannon?? There was a guy named Jordan who never went out on his own and freestyled...never.
Well he did get clobbered in the face by somebody.
That happens like 5 times a game. Dude can take some hits.

Re: NBA Finals

Unbelievable game. I say 4-2, with the Spurs at home in all their glory.

wf

#438466Post 60 of 80

Yeah, but I wanted to see the Pistons win so this would go to 7 games.

#438482Post 61 of 80

is it over yet?

#438483Post 62 of 80

Pretty much.

#438490Post 63 of 80

no i mean, is it off tv yet? or are there more games?

#438503Post 64 of 80

There's still games 6 and maybe 7 to be played, but since the Pistons didn't sweep the Spurs in Detroit, it's almost a done deal that the Spurs have the championship.

#438505Post 65 of 80

thats a shame, cos im really tired of basketball.

#438563Post 66 of 80

Re: NBA Finals
^^^Yeah Mr Clutch Horry aka fresh prince could win his 6th ring this year!!
:Bingo:

#438699Post 67 of 80

^ The pistons blew it basically. Not that the spurs are not a good time. But the pistons are have really sucked this series. Yeah the 2 games that they won they played good. But overall they have sucked it up.

#438942Post 68 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

Of course the best damn game of the series is the one I miss watching Open Water (sick movie BTW) with the fam for Father's Day. Oh well, at least Big Shot Bobby shined again. Once a Laker, always a Laker.

Re: NBA Finals

Yeah man, it's over.

Way to go Spurs. It was ugly at first, but the last 3 games made up for it.
congrats spurs! congrats duncan, congrats manu ginobili!!!
And congrats to Horry on #6 with 3 diff teams

Spurs deserve it, they beat the Suns at their run and gun style and then they beat the Pistions and their bang and defend style

#443189Post 78 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

Congratulations SPURS!!! They deserved it!! Manu Ginobili was the candidate to MVP, but Timmy D won it... anyway im not angry! hehe! SPURS ARE THE CHAMPS!

#443543Post 79 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

Go Spurs!

Thank you Manu for all the great basketball you?re giving us after winning the olympic games with you.

Hope they can make it again next year (and manu gets the MVP): Spurs REPEAT!

#443848Post 80 of 80

Re: NBA Finals

If he would have kept up the pace he set in the 2 first games, he would have been the unanimous MVP. Either way, he has had a pretty much perfect year: Gold medal, new contract, another ring.

OBI-WAN GINOBILI!!!!!!!!!
