What the hell you talking about mate, When is the last time the cardinals wonthe world series. That is all I have to say. The cubs will win the world series before the cardinals.

Well...in Jenks defense the Cards have won a total of 9 World Series Championships with the most recent being in 1982 ('26, '31, '34 '42, '44, '46 '64, '67, '82) while the Cubs have only won 2 with the most recent being before anyone on this board was alive ('07, '08). I'm neither a Cards nor a Cubs fan but I would say that the Cubbies have a bit of catching up to do in order to compete with St. Louis. I agree with Jenks that Rolen & Pujols are definitely at the top of their respective games right now and definitely pose a giant threat this year (even though statistically they're not the best team in baseball).

Go Devil Rays....sike!

#209348Post 4 of 120

disagree

those are good players and the cards aren't too bad this year, BUT i think Alex Rodriguez and Barry Bonds are the best players in baseball. Bonds might be the best player ever.

as for the best team, looks like the Yankees right now. My Astros will catch you red-birds before year end.
What the hell you talking about mate, When is the last time the cardinals wonthe world series. That is all I have to say. The cubs will win the world series before the cardinals.
first of all...i'm not your 'Mate.' :Anal:

I quote what Skahound said, spot on...(and yes, statistically they're not the BEST in baseball, but we're in the top 5.)

Cards have the second most world series titles in baseball next to the Yankees.

Best record in the NL.

Third best offense in baseball.

Rolen is on pace for 160 RBIs.

Rolen, Pujols, Edmonds = 52 HRs , 168 RBI's....before July FFS.

So REwing, what the hell are you going on about? Who is your team?

Yankees i'll bet, fucking AL ball. Or are you waiting for the allstar break to jump on a bandwagon?

#209353Post 6 of 120

bonds is a worthless cunt.

go texas. best young team in baseball.

#209354Post 7 of 120
bonds is a worthless cunt.
Totally.

I wish he would get busted, and he deserves to, fucking cheater.

His cranium has increased by about 8 inches in the last 4 years.

I don't care how many weights you lift, nothing changes your head shape like that, except roids.

Not to mention he's a cunt too...seperate room away from his teammates, special treatment. Way to go TEAM.

#209359Post 8 of 120

and a bit of baseball news:

looks like carlos beltran is going to the astros in a 3 team trade with the main parts being beltran and then dotel of houston going to oakland.

#209361Post 9 of 120

hey arent the d-rays on a 12 game winning streak.and still 20 out.

#209362Post 10 of 120

yeah, just heard about the Beltran trade while watching the cards beat up on the cubs.

i may be biased, but i don't think one bat is going to matter for Houston.

You can't just go assemble a team and expect the clubhouse to gel in one season.

#209382Post 11 of 120

you are a bastard jenksy... the astros are gonna come back and bite you in the ass! (i'm saying my prayers everynight, because i'm afraid you are right... cards are on fire). dotel sucked anyhow... we just need petitte healthy and jimy FIRED.

you just need to watch out for the cubs now though... they have prior AND sosa back now... when they get the rest of their staff healthy, they'll give you a run for the money.

pujols hit a fucking line shot outta the park yesterday that was a fucking bullet... i've never seen a line drive homerun like that, it was crazy.

anyways, enough ranting.... GO 'STROS

#209385Post 12 of 120

nl central is a fun division to watch. the pirates finally tailed off, but there are still 4 teams in it. will be crazy in september if it stays the way its going.

#209401Post 13 of 120

screw the Cards, CUBS ALL THE WAY!

#209406Post 14 of 120

GO 'STROS!! :RightOn:

#209425Post 15 of 120

White Sox all the way!!

Gonna be a crazy weekend playing the Cubs too. I'll be there Sunday to witness the madness. Theyre gonna need a 3:1 ratio of fans to police to keep that place in order.

I like the Cards so long as they keep beating the Cubs though.

#209433Post 16 of 120

the two best players in baseseball are Kerry Wood and Mark Prior..........GO CUBIEs........TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME, ITS ROUT ROUT FOR THE CUBBIEs..........AND if they dont win its a shame.......

Fuck A-Rod. He's just a greedy little prick that doesn't deserve to play anywhere. He has no team spirit. All he cares about is himself.

#209440Post 18 of 120

go Cubs

its early in the season, we'll get another chance at the cards. White Sox next series!

#209509Post 19 of 120

screw Bonds, he's under investigation for use of steroids anyways.

#209510Post 20 of 120

FAO Cubs fans...

did you see tonight's game?

Fucking go home you swampies...we took the series.

All jokes aside, you know what's scary?? The Cards under LaRussa have always been a second half team. I'm uber geeked about the allstar break and to see what happens.

Cubs have the only talent to beat the cards in this division, reds = ownage, stros = ownage.

The cards have one of the toughest lineups to face as a pitcher, i don't care who you are.

Damn i love baseball.

#209512Post 21 of 120

From the postings in this thread...one thing i think we can all agree on is...

National League ball = real baseball. 8)

#209563Post 22 of 120

Whereas I agree with many of you that if Barry Bonds abused steroids he should face some sort of sanction, we all know exactly what will happen. Just take cases like Darryl Strawberry or Dwight Gooden or any number of other players that have been busted for drugs and are still allowed to compete after a slight slap on the wrist. Furthermore, if Bonds abused steroids, it would certainly make a case for his increase in home runs over the past several years, however it would have had no effect on his hand/eye coordination and his ability to hit for bases and batting titles. Interesting paradox.

#209568Post 23 of 120

Best team in baseball? Yomiuri Giants

bonds has always hit for average and ran well on the bases. in fact, I think he broke a record for most 30/30 seasons. but it does seem awful strange that when 98% of players careers are winding down that he starts hitting 60 homeruns with some regularity.

#209583Post 25 of 120

the best team in baseball?

The Yankees! it's always about the Yankees!! 8)

Dude relax. I was just giving you shit. I don't follow baseball at all. Pro baseball is really boring. No interest in it. just joking with youways.

#209613Post 28 of 120

Best team in baseball: The Yankees

#209619Post 29 of 120

scott rolen will not keep that pace. The best team in baseball right now is cincinnatti. But i don't think they will win. I am putting money on the Bo Sox. I know laugh at me :D I just feel they have a complete team between the pitching (pedro, schilling) and the hitting (garciaparra, ramirez) :Bingo: I don't think the yankees have the pitching to win. They are going to have a late trade in the year for some pitching in order to win.

#209657Post 30 of 120

Go A's

#209717Post 31 of 120
scott rolen will not keep that pace.
not keep that pace??? the dude has always had a phenominal batting record and he has won 5 gold gloves!!!! don't tell me about keeping pace, he's already proved it. (damn and i'm against the cards, here i am giving them credit)

i know, it's all good.

as soon as someone brings up the Cubs to a Cards fan, it gets serious, gloves off...and vice versa. Comparable to Sox v Yankees.

Someone mentioned Cinci...lol, check the standings, and check the season series v the cards, and the cubs for that matter. Cinci's run is done.

#209748Post 33 of 120

so ya took the series big effin deal, we're still gonna reclaim 1st place man, we had 11 injured players this season man, you just wait :) Cards can suck my ass.

#209749Post 34 of 120
From the postings in this thread...one thing i think we can all agree on is...

Now I can agree with you on that one Jenks.
so ya took the series big effin deal, we're still gonna reclaim 1st place man, we had 11 injured players this season man, you just wait :) Cards can suck my ass.
just face the fact that you've been owned by the Cards.

The central will go to the cards or cubs...the rest of the division is our whipping boy.

#209753Post 36 of 120

owned by the cards who had a full roster?

Just wait for Prior and Wood to make a full return.

And wait for Sammy to be feeling 100% again.

#209756Post 37 of 120

HAHAH, the last time Prior took the mound against the cards, grand slam, followed by 10+ runs. And don't tell me he was still recovering from his injury, because a week earlier he pitched 6 or 8 scoreless innings.

You can argue all you want, and i'll keep pointing to the scoreboard.

#209758Post 38 of 120

By the end of the season we'll see man. :D

I am telling u that def. the cardinals won't win. They don't have the pitching. In the playoffs it is a new game. Pitching wins. Obviously u don't watch baseball very much. As for scott rolen=good player. But not great. They won't win the National league. :Bingo:

#209773Post 40 of 120

Rolen as of yesterday...

17 HR 71 RBIs .335 avg

i don't know what you qualify as great, but those numbers are pretty fucking outstanding in my book, not to mention his arm and glove.

Pujols in his first 4 years in the league has better numbers than Bonds in comparison.

The best players in ball...no, Alex R gets that nod in my book...but those two above are definitely in the top 5.
