I've only listened to the first hour but it sounds great so far. No horrible radio jingles, no adverts. and even Nick doesn't speak to much. Just a shame for [MS] its on Frisky. :(

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

It's not here but it's all over the 'Net, that makes sense.

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

Good work, powers that be.

To push our luck, a WOW subforum would indeed be great. And that would easily cover all Jody and Nick sets (by the mere fact that some WOW sets are furnished by Nick, and some by Jody ;)).

And no reason to disparage Hybridized. We've got a decent sharing community there, just like this one (only on a smaller scale).

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

Yeah, I don't get the Nick/Jody dicotomy, but I'm grateful for The Nick sub-forum anyway.

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

They're an inseparable music machine, IMO, even if they also work independently. It was their partnership together that initially marked their rise to stardom (yes yes, I know, Massive Attack played a significant role for Nick as well).

ok, done saying my piece.

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

Quality. Most of the best stuff of recent i think has come from nick and always loads of stuff of his comin through.

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

what i love about Nick's mixes are that I almost always want to listen to the mix a second and third time as soon as the mix ends the first time.... and the thought to listen to it again right away usually surfaces during the middle of the mix...

that's how you know your listening to something that was given a great deal of thought and artistic expression while created.

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

You mean that the forum needs a Howells subforum too or that you can't tell the two dj's apart :)?

If it's the former, I agree, btw.

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

It's still awkward and counterproductive that some WOW sets are in here and others are in the Nick subforum, IMO (yes, I'm hinting at comments I made previously :p).

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

^ I will have a look and get round to moving them in the next few days. I've been indexing the thread titles of the ones moved already so they are in some sort of order I've done pages 3 to 5 so far

#1339179Post 96 of 131

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

All right but if you're moving them all to the sub forum, just remember that it's not so easy to determine whose done the mixes, as they usually pass the responsibility back and forth. I can only positively identify several myself.

I sure hope "Shine" has stepped their speaker system up a notch since last year.

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren
We're falling on deaf ears. One need to look no further than the Hybridized link to understand why we would campaign for them both together. ;) Also, I don't think either of them would be as successful if it were not for the cohorts of the other...it's become a symbiotic relationship.

Furthermore, I can definitely say without a doubt that WOW collectively over the last 18 years have done more for progressive house than Hernan Cattaneo. Richie Hawtin has been on the techno and DJ'ing methodologies forefront but this site hasn't traditionally been one that focuses on techno, unless I'm mistaken.

The web design itself is rather antiquated but I am not responsible for that. However, sets from November 2009 are not even a month old.
God this is annoying !! Why do people have to put down one Dj in order to support another.??

That sort of statement will always be an opinion only and no matter how often you say "definitely, without a doubt" it is still only an opinion. Personally I believe they have all been enormously important in their own way. Comparisons are superfluous !!

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

It's going to be a goldmine ;)

Have to say, i'm a huge fan of Jody Wisternoff's sets - I'd have no problem with JW in the same subforum as NW 8)

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

Didi, relax. Of course it's somewhat subjective but to say every artist/DJ has made equal contributions to the scene/world of club music reeks of touchy-feely politically correct speech. ;) Nowt wrong with having an opinion or sharing it and agreeing to disagree.

Yup... especially looking forward to grabbing all those live sets circa 2004 that I've now lost.

Would now be a good time to ask for a Danny Howells sub-forum? :p

I have moved the obvious WOW mixes I saw through a search query yesterday but I am sure I did not catch all of them. If you see further ones just make a list of links and one of us takes care they will be moved.
Would now be a good time to ask for a Danny Howells sub-forum? :p
It's like a Hydra...cut one head off and two new ones grow. I am sure you guys have ideas for hundreds of subforums but there are also many members who do not like the Subforum hell we already have now. Basically, if enough people want it, the DJ himself wants it and we think it's a good idea too, there is always a way to find a solution, be it a Subforum, Megathread or whatever.

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

I've added all the dates to the thread tittles in the sub forum so if you click on thread at the top of the page all the sets should be in order. I've dated them year, month, day. If anyone knows of any that are in the wrong order let me know and I will correct them. If everyone posting Nick's sets does the same it will make my job easier8)

As I did say there is no need to put down anyone else to support your own opinion. Actually reeks of insecurity in the quality of your own judgement.;)

I'm all for sharing opinions and agreeing to disagree. Perhaps you might consider adding IMHO to statements like this, then we will know it is only your opinion ;)
I can definitely say without a doubt that WOW collectively over the last 18 years have done more for progressive house than Hernan Cattaneo.
BTW this is a great idea and thanks to the guys making it happen. :Respect:

Seeing Nick and Jody was a huge part of making my life heaps more fun last year :D

 @ the Howells fans. He's helped me make a great start on this years fun !! :D

Re: Recommendation: Sub-forum for Nick Warren

maybe this is a good kickoff for Nick to start providing exclusive sets and non-released sets to [ms]...

I like Warren, but not as much as I like howells... the thing is there are not as many of his sets going around... and it's not like we see one getting released every week... so for the time being maybe it's pointless.

One reason why I was hoping for a WOW section and one reason why the bosses here should find a way to have Soundgarden posted at ms too.
