Checking this out now

.. it pains me to think where he's ended up. This was the guy that gave us Sacred/My Lexicon/Slipper Sleaze/Buenos Aires etc. and 2 x legendary Essential Mixes.

Agreed, I used to religiously download every single Sander set that was about at the time

Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

nice mix. Still like Nick Warren's chillout mixes more though, especially the build-up from Nick is much better than the one from Sander. Weird transition at 40 min btw.

#1230621Post 24 of 55

Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

^that's forsure. I had to double check to make sure the set didn't change accidently to something else.
GU25???

he is referring to Sander's warmup 2 hour set he did for Deep Dish GU25 party... it is around here somewhere, search for it. it is probably one of sander's best live recorded mixes out there.

as for this mix, i dig some of the tracks and some just dont fit... no mixing whatsoever here.

sander is done. :(

can someone explain this to me. coz i am confused, why would someone compare this to a normal mix? its just music i love. mostly not mixed..

please be honest..

thanx for the replies, but i must admit it does bug me, i mean, so i dont make music like i did in 2001.. thats because its uhhh 2009?

Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

Yikes .. this thread seems to have struck a nerve - everyone's entitled to their opinions .. Sander has moved on (which he's entitled to do) and he's probably found a totally new crowd - one that I'd say enjoy a good night out, but I'd wonder how obsessive about their music and their productions.

I've actually got all his CD's ... Nubreed still sounds ground-breaking today, but the Renaissance ones were all incredibly well put together and I raved about the "this is" comp too.

But, in my mind, other things I have heard disappoint me by comparison. Too much seems throw-away ... not as much depth/melody ... sorry Sander !

Would be interesting to know his thoughts on Pacha's changes -the best house club in the world has expanded its vip and jettisoned Def Mix and Roger Sanchez, plus Renaissance are only using the brand name and none of their top DJ's e.g. Diggers/Hernan/Zabiela/Howells/Tomeii and (to a degree) Sasha (who played for them 2003 - 2007). Now you get David Guetta (who admitted he rarely sources his records and nicks them off Pete Tong & Morillo) and Freddy Legrande.

Life-style over substance. This year will be the 1st time I'll be giving Pacha a miss (Sander's not playing Pure Pacha the night I'm there - Benny Benassi is  ).

lmfao. sander listen and listen good...u been washed up for years now...u have completely lost it. and probably have fallen as far as any top dj has. the music u play is unlistenble....maybe u have overdone over the years and have lost your ear....

Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

Sander, if you still read this thread, it has no reason to argue about how you play now and why you play so. We've seen in the past many top djs like you changing their musical styles and tastes just to come back to what they were best at. Mixing isn't only about "playing the tracks of people who are best in the business", that every jukebox can do and i am sure you, of all people, understand the most what building up a set really means. People here are not an ordinary audience and maybe, just maybe, you should give a thought or two about what they are saying.

Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

Can someone up? the link is dead (downloads 500k) I used to catch sander back in Arc, some of the best nights I've ever had. He would break the set down so musically.

I still download his sets in hope to find something I like, but yeah most of it is for a big club where people don't care about the tunes.

I understand where sander's at, he's just playing for his audience, but what's the point? I'm sure he's got enough cash now he could drop the high profile clubs and just focus on good music. I guess once people get a taste of that life it's addictive.

Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

Sander, if you are still reading this, do understand that this board is a group of hardcore music fans, a lot of us love experimental and forward music. We understand that you aren't necessarily in a position to push that style music. You may in fact be pushing big room music in a new direction (I don't listen to enough of it to really know), but that's just not our direct taste.

Being judged on a mix you just threw together for fun is not cool, esp if you didn't foresee any of the criticism, but I think a lot of the opinions you here from this forum are from guys who kinda wanted you to stay underground and push that style music (think adultnapper) -- but that's not the way you went, you chose a different route, which is totally cool if that's what you wanted to do.

Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

I like the way he calls us "kids" on his Twitter

Probably spot on with our mental ages !

I'd better not post my thoughts on his Shine WMC set .... he says in an immature, kiddy rolling his eyes sort of way

Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

Checking out the tracks ... some nice music on there - the selection seems random, but the true test will be on Salinas beach in a few weeks.
