I remember Sasha telling the story of when he first played Sound Factory. As soon as he started his set, he couldn't understand why the Sound was so terrible, none of the people working there were willing to help him our. He finished his set and Vasquez came on. Sasha hung around the booth and noticed that they had put a hidden control panel in the booth the Vazquez turned on at the start of his set and the sound system really kicked into life.

What's there to fight about? The only thing I have posted that could be personal was probably in post 35. I have only stated some facts.

Paul Oakenfold was and inspiration to many DJ's and not the ones you think. Read the sleeve notes to Tenaglia's Global Underground, or some interviews with Norman J or Terry Farley and many many more. When he first opened Spectrum he owed the club £12,000 and allowed his backers to walk away from the debt. £12k was a lot of money in 1987. He went on to have one off the most legendary residencies, do some legendary Essential Mixes and release some brilliant Cd's. Yes his mixing isn't great, but if your tracks are shit, few people will be interested. What was that track from Absolutely Fabulous that Vazquez sampled? Fucking appalling.

I only agree about Oakenfold, with all his shortcomings is still a giant compared to many. As for NYC garage, many of those djs weren't that great taken out of contest, at least not that good, see what Arthur Baker says about Levan in that "Greatest DJ Of All Time" series of short clips.

Ok I will make it easy, point me in the direction of one legendary Vazquez set that could sit along side Oakenfold's Goa or Fluro mix, Sasha's Zen mix, Sasha & Digweed's JJJ mixup, Jame Zabiela's Four2, or Tenaglia's boxed mix. Vazquez was a prima doña who believed in some hype he got from some fans called Juniorites. Unfortunately for him the rest of the world didn't see it that way. Tribal thought it would be a good idea to slate Oakenfold after posting several threads about Vazquez, who was nothing special, ever.

What? My opinion about Oakenfold has nothing to do with other DJs..You are the one who involved the name of Junior Vasquez in this thread..
