Yo, pls stop. I'll mail you an etch-a-sketch so you can scribble all this nonsense on it and once you've taken it out of your system, feel free to come back here and post some sense.
Re: Libya
and to go back on topic, about time someone got in there to put that man draped in a bedsheet, in his rightful place. it's ironic when you think about it that Ghadaffi himself came into power in the 70s (iirc) in a bloodless coup and its remarkable to see his aggression when there was a peaceful revolution brewing.
Re: Libya
Did that idiot think his 'peace fire' for two days would stop the UN, after there are reports left and right of him still being aggressive? I bet he is surprised France is all over him already.
Re: Libya
I'm not saying it will collapse because of Libya. Again you are putting words in my mouth but I can speak for myself thank you. The trend for the US Dollar has been down for a long time. I was saying that if China doesn't support this war then they can retaliate by not buying treasuries.
And no collecting bodies is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Where is he storing the bodies with the Keebler Elves in the trees'??
I have already written my MP telling him how against this I am and that there better not be ANY Canadian troops in Libya.

be realistic, you don't believe it yourself that this will happen do you?
Re: Libya
China has dramatically slowed down buying treasuries over the last year. So the trend is already set. Why would anybody buy the US dollar anyways? They only export war and corruption.

I'm not denying the shape of the US Dollar, but to somehow imagine that Libya's situation is now going to change the financial state of the USD is a little wild don't you think? If you're keeping up with the situation there, it turns out that French planes were already in the air even before the No Fly Zone was levied, so to dream that China is now going to cripple the US's Financial standing in retaliation to the attacks even when it voted AGAINST it, is remarkably brilliant. Think about that when you're done puking.
Btw, considering China themselves are probably holding the largest reserves of the Dollar outside the US, does anyone really believe that China themselves would do their best to destroy the Dollar's value? Econ 101?
Re: Libya
It's not action alone (in Libya) that would cause them to do it...it's a culmination of many things. And you did raise a good point on why they're still holding onto US treasuries. They're not interested in mutually assured destruction (at the moment anyway). Either way, this Libyan involvement is just another costly expense that will add to our already ridiculous debt load. Afghanistan after 10 years is still a quagmire...when does the leadership here get smart and scale back and say no? After we're all living in tent cities?
Sudan is also deserving of its own thread, indeed.

Re: Libya
well what's your take on the matter chunky? Are you for foreign intervention to help those wanting to kick out the dictatorship or against it?
Actually I'm all for intervention regarding Libya. I don't think there is a secret agenda behind it. Unlike Iraq the Revolution was started by the people and if they can be helped I'm all for it. If Gaddafi is overthrown I think there will be even more turmoil as the country doesn't appear to have any infrastructure to form a new Government. Yes innocent people will die but I remember watching a documentary about Auschwitz and one of the survivors was saying that they remembered seeing allied planes flying over the camp. The feeling from the prisoners watching was hope out of despair, hope that the allies would drop some bombs or do something even if it resulted in innocent deaths. Personally I would like to see more country's rise up and revolt and get intervention, Bhuma being top of my list. Like I said before Bhuma's human rights violations as so bad the Bristish Government doesn't sell them arms and if the UK won't sell you arms it must be bad.
Re: Libya
I would also like to see uprising's in Korea, Tibet and even Israel but I think the world would just sit back and ignore them and many people would be slaughtered and nothing will be achieved.
Re: Libya
Why did Soetoro need to make the announcement from BRAZIL? Too spineless to face the remaining awake folk in the American public?

This action should have been voted on by Congress, otherwise it is most certainly an illegal war.
Being the UN's bitch is one thing if the majority of US politicians vote to proceed with actions they decry...but when it's the pseudo-executive abusing executive power to put American Military in harm's way (and yes, interfering with the sovereignty of another nation), it's a whole 'nother ballgame.
