Well Matthews has no problem calling white people "crackers" but I guess the liberals are allowed to be racist because they claim they aren't.

I hate this guy. When will the US fix its media. They are nothing but a bunch of liars.

Could you imagine what would happen if Shepard Smith came out and said people that are against Bush are just a bunch of "niggers?" The liberals would be in an uproar.

what do you mean i'm playing into the media? I'm just pointing things out.

Also you didn't answer the question. What would happen if it was the other way around.

You're acting like a kid who doesn't understand communication. Communication is 90% non-verbal... so this debate (at least in my mind) is meaningless. Who said cracker, how was cracker said, why was cracker said in what context? Apply those same questions to the "n" word.

Why am I having to explain this to you?

Out of curiosity where did you go to college RM?

Re: MSNBC Chris Matthews Calls Anti - Obama People Crackers

in Canada. What about you?

You know what is funny is that you are afraid to say the "n" word but you have no problem saying cracker. I think you are the one who needs a lesson. You don't even see that their isn't a difference between those two worlds. They are both hateful expressions. But you have no problem saying the white one. Why is that?

Wow you're incredibly dense on this one, guy. "Cracker" isn't even on the same planet as the N word.

Someone give this fucking guy a history lesson. I'm not even going to waste my time with it.

how, they are both racial slurs aren't they? Did I miss something? Why are white people so afraid to say it? I'm not responsible for white happened a hundred years ago .. They will say fuck, shit, asshole, cocksucker... "n" word.. politically correct has you guys in the US afraid to say anything.

I'm done with this thread I can already feel Pickle breathing down my neck. But I wanted to point it out that it is ok for liberals to make racist comments not conservatives though. And I think I proved that here.

FFS!!

 1. Chris Matthews is a blowhard, just like most of the people spewing nonsense on MSNBC and FOX news, both Liberal and Conservative. Way to point out the obvious with this thread! Do you want to be congratulated for unveiling this groundbreaking piece of information?

 2. Fear isn't what keeps intelligent, rational people, regardless of race, from saying the N word. We don't say it because it's incredibly insensitive, socially wrong, and every time it's uttered it sets us back a little from all that we as a society have achieved in the past 100 years with regard to equal rights. Are we perfect yet? Absolutely not, but we've come a long way, and definitely have moved beyond tolerating socially ignorant people like you thinking it's okay to say the N word because you're not afraid to say it, or because someone called you a cracker. "If they say it, I can say it!!" Ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is you think just because you didn't have anything personally to do with slavery 100 years ago, that it's no biggie for you to throw the N word around, which by the way is a prime example of why everyone gives you so much shit on this board and and is the reason everyone thinks you're a complete dumbfuck. You want to be congratulated for something? Congrats on your transparent dumbfuckery, once again.

Runningman, there is a double standard. Doesn't matter how much denial is on exhibit here. It's called white guilt, another sentiment that got Soetoro elected.

Actually its called: calling someone a n* is a shitload more offensive than calling some whitey a cracker. Thanks.

I am not saying either to say is cool, but as a white dude cracker isn't offensive to me and I bet it isn't to most white people. The n* word is a whole different story. So there really isnt much else to elaborate on.

Another class thread by runnynose.

Congratulations. You're about as bright and observant as those fuck ups that feel the need to comment to everyone about how outrageous the tabloids are with their stories of bat boy. Wow, you can spot the pundit rhetoric from both sides.

Bravo.

Congratulations.

Thats plain fucking bullshit...if I was in the Us and someone called me a cracker i would fucking rip their head open. its your choice to choose to ignore insults...but its not right. Also, African Americans refer to each other by that name all the fucking time...you wont catch me call a WASP a "cracker". I think the whole fucking story should be toned down a little four hundred years, four hundred year booo hooo fucking hooo...my ancestors were slaves for 500 years to the Turks and kidnapped as babies and raised as Muslims...had their finger nails pulled out because of their religion...you don't see me insulting Turkish people with racial slur... fucking bullshit.

Re: MSNBC Chris Matthews Calls Anti - Obama People Crackers

^ touche... agree with you totally. unfortunately, the US will always be reminded that white people owned black people as slaves back in the day. and people will always use it one way or another to push their agenda.

Re: MSNBC Chris Matthews Calls Anti - Obama People Crackers

Context, tonality, etc... Again, someone like Chris Mathews saying Cracker on tv in a jesting tone, is not the same thing as Chris Mathews saying "n*gger" in an insulting tone. This argument isn't a new one at all... just because we have a half black half white president doesnt make the argument any more interesting either.

peace

No Florida it is that white people don't know what racism is anymore. That is the point. Racism is using language and action to promote your race.

If you talk about race you are ruled a racist right off the start.

I happen to agree with Matthews, maybe not go so far as to call them "crackers" but anyone who thinks President Obama is not legitimate in any way, HE WAS ELECTED HELLOO, is very UN-American and downright racist, i don't see any other way to justify that kind of outlandish thinking.

In your mind "it has never happened before" means "it can never happen"

lol

i'm wondering. if it was no big deal, then why did Obama's good friend, the GUVNAH of Hawaii himself, say he was going to settle the matter once and for all (suggesting it WAS NOT SETTLED).

if you feel insulted, then my comments hit too damn close to home.

massive lulz. let me translate this:

'settle this once and for all' aka: he was just elected guvnuh last month. aka: he was never consulted when obama was elected to be the guy behind the guy behind the guy to verify our president isn't a damn dirty foreigner, BECAUSE HE WAS JUST ELECTED LAST MONTH. so now that he has a chance to help squash total stupidity, he is going to chip in with his $.02.

fun snippets from above, based on the first google news hit i get for 'hawaii obama governor', published today:
Officials in Hawaii have tracked down papers indicating that President Obama was indeed born in their state, according to its new governor.

Gov. Neil Abercrombie, who took office in December, told Honolulu's Star-Advertiser on Tuesday that "our investigation" indicates there is a recording of his birth.

"It actually exists in the archives, written down," he said. The new Democratic head of the state vowed when he took office that he would do his best to end the debate over Obama's birth, which began in 2008 during the presidential campaign.

"We'll do what we can as quickly as we can to make it inevitable that only those who wish the President ill, only the ones with a political agenda, will be the ones doing this kind of thing," Abercrombie told CNN in December. "The President is entitled to the respect of his office and he's entitled to have his mother and father respected."

During that interview, Abercrombie said his goal to combat birthers was a personal one. "It's a matter of principle with me," the 72-year-old said. "I knew his mom and dad. I was here when he was born. Anybody who wants to ask a question honestly could have had their answer already

i'm not a birther. but for fucks sake, if he says there is a document, bring it the fuck out and show it already. jaysus christ. shut the birthers up man.

afterall, the very FACT that abercrombie took this on as a personal mission defecates on your assumption that this question was satisfactorily resolved in the past. indeed 'political implications' had he not sought those records (which i guess we can assume exist, but have not actually been brought into public.)

naw. thanks to the internets a small handful of idiots can gain traction about any stupid ass issue now days and it gets way more attention than it ever should, like this topic. or that sarah palin kills people because someone in her camp drew a pic with crosshairs on it. so instead of this moronic fare being relegated to a few small unheard of pockets of hillbillies, everyone gets to retweet it, and it somehow becomes legit, no matter how dumb it is. so now, even some officials feel they have to produce millions of documents, dna, hair samples and whatever other nonsense to shut a few idiots up, which is sad and a waste of non-idiots time.
