Re: The Smearing of the Tea Party

Again, you seem to think only people on the right use "inflamed" rhetoric, and you couldn't be further from the truth (ignoring all the evidence I've already posted). One group turned Jared into a political issue, and it wasn't those on the right.
So all Saddam Hussein needed was a decent media consultant?
Lol. Well, let me modify what I was saying - any Western democracy based political movement can do well with the a decent media consultant.

But consider for a moment that Sadam was a U.S. ally through a good chunk of the 80's when Ayatollah Khomeni was running Iran, so he was doing something right for a while. Even if it was due to a philosophy of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", which dominates in short sighted politics.

On a side note, it's nice to see that Vinnie97 and runningman drink for the same source of water that provides them with their hilarious delusions. Keep it up sweethearts.

Re: The Smearing of the Tea Party

Doing something "right"? Mate doing what suits the US foreign policy is the right term. Doing something "right" geesh Sorry that just jumped right at me. It would be really nice if everyone who likes to post here would read a little about the history of the Middle East. Not trying to be condescending and not aiming this at anyone in particular but I think it would mean a much more informed and stimulating discussion.

'Right', according to who?

And besides, he was always Americas ally, even right up until the events of Sep 11 2001. Yes that's right, Iraq was still helping the US in identifying any kinds of terror threat against her. He did this despite the fact, that the US killed thousands of Iraqis during the first gulf "war" and the hundreds of thousands more Iraqi dead, because of the disgraceful US lead sanctions imposed on them.

In all seriousness, America couldn't ask for a better friend. What more could he do or offer?

And all that Saddam gained for his years of loyal service to his US masters, was a couple of inches.

Absolutely nothing, will help you when the media whores have their sights set on you.

By "doing something right" I mean more the fact that he was looked upon favorably by the U.S. press and had a positive image with the U.S. media for a while. Not referring to anything in relations to morality and/or contributing anything constructive to the development of the Middle East. Methinks peeps be reading a bit too literally into what's being posted.

Re: The Smearing of the Tea Party

Highsteppa, the vacuousness of your position is visible for anyone (in their right mind) to see, your homo quips notwithstanding. There's plenty of things to be concerned ("paranoid") about when a govt. is constantly overstepping its constitutional purpose for governing.

Come on, Res. I'd only ever laugh at Bill at his expense, especially with nonsense like this, and I quote, when referencing the batshit crazy case of Jared Loughner: "Because we don't have government healthcare, that's one reason why a crazy person gets a gun, because you know what, it's hard for a crazy person to get a job. So therefore it's hard for them to get healthcare in a country that doesn't have government, etc." (source, including video)

Making more logical leaps than an acrobat on a coke binge (boom tsh).

Thanks for this standard misquote. That was from last Fridays episode which I actually watched in its entire 60 minutes, not 18 seconds. I dont know if whatever that moonbattery.com site is, but the actual quote was along the lines of: "this guy bought a gun because he was crazy, he lost/quit his job BECAUSE he was crazy, and BECAUSE he couldn't get/didnt have any healthcase coverage to diagnose he was crazy BECAUSE he couldn't afford it, and we don't have any socialized mental heath, he was able to buy a gun BECAUSE he passed the background check"

Please explain why this isn't sound reasoning?

Oh please, I thought it was already established on this board that it's a public forum, and you're playing the victim claiming of thought policing and "tEh LibaRaLs R cUmiN' 2 gHet mE" shit is as asinine as runnynose's attempts to back up any argument with some random, single internet link and assumes that it allows him some bullshit ghetto pass for the nonsense he posts. Even more asinine is how you and him are desperate to be seen as some kind of authority on these matters with both of you idiots simply searching for whatever confirms your paranoid little fantasies for that day, and stopping as soon as you've confirmed it. Any counter thought or expression of disagreement to your little microcosm of a universe you've built that day is met with hostility. Lighten the fuck up and enough the the cognitive dissonance.

I'm sure that with a couple of searches on Google, I could find some webpage that says your mom's a whore - it doesn't mean it's true.

Government wouldn't have done shit. One random dude who wants to kill people in some spree is never going to be stopped by the government no matter what. Not at least until RM's wet dreams come true and we all are monitored by the NSA in our homes 24/7. Less guns floating around would have fixed the issue though.

How many shooting deaths were there in Japan last year?

Re: The Smearing of the Tea Party

^We agree.

Highsteppa, nothing I say will prove to you that there's a left-leaning media bias. It has been proven in spades since the shooting of the public official (if it wasn't obvious already). You don't think it exists, so we're at a crossroads. And likewise, you only acknowledge evidence that supports your own microcosm and belief system, so spare me the cognitive dissonance accusations.

Res, less guns floating around...mmm right. I don't buy it. The wackjob was obsessed and if there's anything that determined criminals/loose canons have proven, it's their resourcefulness and ability to improvise and skirt laws/regulations. He was at point blank range, was he not? He simply could've used a sharp instrument to do the deed if not a gun. It's the old adage, guns don't kill people, etc.

the msm always sucks for anything involving violence imo, they always just want to focus on the scariest/most outlandish bloody elements to try and scare people and make copy. shit really....but i would hope many could see past that nonsense and boil events down into what really matches up with reality and dismiss all the bullshit/hype just to sell newspapers and this weeks Dateline Murder Mystery.

Uh huh. Questioning the violence themed rhetoric and it's involvement in the shooting of a public official in the same way that has been used to scrutinize pop culture whenever there's a public, violent act is a total left leaning agenda. Or a self serving excuse for a position that you're not comfortable with.
You don't think it exists, so we're at a crossroads. And likewise, you only acknowledge evidence that supports your own microcosm and belief system, so spare me the cognitive dissonance accusations.
Funny, I never said that. I've said that maybe the argument has deserved scrutiny and maybe it doesn't. I've said that in order to be taken seriously as a political movement, the Tea Party needs to take control of their media image. Quote me where I've specifically said that there is no left leaning bias or anything regarding that.

And that doesn't mean that I'm saying there is. I'm saying that the media is applying the same scrutiny to the violence themed, over the top language that has been polluting the American scene for months like they have whenever some kind of violent act comes up and the media are looking to oversimplify the issue.

But, as usual, you're selectively reading what you want and disregarding the rest.

And the "I know you are but what am I" retort is still weak when you pretty much use the same wording that I just used to describe you. Or, is this you're latest argument for "thought policing" in order to excuse yourself of having anything original to say back? It's amazing how you paranoid peeps go running to their Orwell like a fat kid going after a rolling Smartie. Yeah, great, 1984 and Animal Farm are great books, but Christ, you guys over use that shit more than Dog The Bounty Hunter tells peeps to find Jesus and to "get off the ice, brah".

Highsteppa, you are totally convinced it's tea party rhetoric that brought this guy (whose friend said he paid no particular attention to left or right politics) out to shoot a blue dog democrat. DOES NOT COMPUTE. Now you're adjusting your argument to claim "violent rhetoric" is to blame yet scores of examples of left-wing violence have been referenced to reveal that violence is not perpetuated exclusively by one political movement, but you hold strong by saying only the tea party needs to address its media image. I can't take you seriously.
