No shit, they don't want the Nobel going to a guy who they have locked up because he wants a Democratic China. Duh.

Also:
However, only 19 countries refused to attend the peace prize ceremony: China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Serbia, Iraq, Iran, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Venezuela, the Philippines, Egypt, Sudan, Ukraine, Cuba and Morocco.
Quite a list there.

What's scary is that country's are so willing to bow down so easily. We had to witness David Cameron last month travel to China to kiss Hu Jintao's arse. you can just imagine that conversion. DC "Listen Hu don't worry about the human rights as long as we have trade" Hu Jintao "very good Dave now send Barack in and tell him to take his fucking shoes off on the way in". Disgusting behaviour.

If you travel to someone elses country, why not abide by their culture in social situations. It's called building rapport

yea, but they never invited you to their country in the first place to abide to their culture, and its not really cool being sarcastic about the unrightfully murder of innocent lives.

Re: Nobel Peace Prize 2010

Part of it is because we have been expected to be the world police (except only in part). Damned if we do, damned if we don't. Still, the power-mongers in charge need to be honest with themselves, and with us about the nature of our involvement in foreign lands.

btw all of these countries have thousands of years of history over the US., and history is being repeated, at a different place in a different time with different people.

The link suggests that the US can be called on, and conduct themselves as paid mercenaries, in doing the dirty work of other nations if and when requested. For a handsome fee of course.

Is this the behavior, actions of what you would consider to be that of the 'world police'?

Re: Nobel Peace Prize 2010

^ As bad as that is, citizens may support these criminal actions regardless, provided it benefits them. But it simply doesn't.

Billions upon billions are spent on a disastrous foreign policy, while the nation and it's people continue to suffer. And with no end in sight.

It's absolutely crazy and it simply can't go on like this. I'm not at all confident that it can be fixed via the ballot box alone. The situation seems hopeless and it's as if the people have given up. And I can't really blame them for feeling like this.

The people look to their leaders for guidance and real leadership, but they have failed them miserably, openly and shamelessly. You keep hearing the word revolution being used more often, as the only solution to the problems being faced at this point in time. I don't wish that upon anyone, as this can only mean bloodshed.

Below is a link to an interview with Max Keiser and Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, former assistant Secretary to the US Treasury during the Reagan administration. They cover recent events but part 3 is very interesting as Paul Roberts expresses his very grim view on the future of the US and her citizens.

Re: Nobel Peace Prize 2010
The only people that I ever hear say this, are American themselves. Why is that?
Perhaps it's a history that goes back to WWI/WWII, when we realized that isolationism was failing and could no longer be relied upon after all the human losses. After that (in part to prevent the conditions that caused such instability), we became proactive interventionists to the extreme. It seems we're on the tail end of that now.

The results haven't always been a disaster...Chile turned out nice.

#1442837Post 39 of 53

Re: Nobel Peace Prize 2010

man please, to be honest i dont even know how you can convince urself by this, i guess this is exactly the example that many of us here talk about. i mean did u really buy this urself, is that what u think what really happens, dont you see what happens in the world everyday, and when did the US interfere? other than when they feel there is a huge gain for them? look around you man and use ur brain to evaluate things.

if the results have always been a disaster its for a reason(coz was never the purpose u think it is), and maybe an indication to stop playing that fake role and putting the wolf in a sheep's costume coz trust me there arent many sheep around here that will buy such given crap and u will stand out so obvious and full of evidence covering you from head to toe except for maybe some sheep that dont care abt it they just wanna keep on eating and not having to think so hard and questions things.

so if u are still convinced that its a sheep, then that sux for u, coz theres a wolf there and u just dont see it.

IMO i respect it more when someone says coz we got the power and the guns and we'll do watever the fuk we wanna do coz we can. coz at least theyre not lying to themselves, and arguing about a point so obvious, u cant go both ways at the same time, and the path u chose is so clear to us.

Re: Nobel Peace Prize 2010

Why are you being so confrontational and on top of that with the tedious run-ons? I do realize that unilateral action is primarily one of self-interest (because a world in chaos is one that is of not useful for the well-being of any country and especially not a world power). I am not going to lie to myself or you and claim every foreign intervention has been a clusterfuck (you seem to be insinuating that every foreign action taken in self-interest has resulted in nothing but disaster), but I will gladly admit that many have been. And isolationism did exist in this country after WWI. Believe it or not, allies have requested help on occasion (these are the roots of Vietnam involvement for instance) and obviously the powers that be are going to weigh the pros and cons of any potential action, including considering how the US can benefit from the action. Another example is that of the Yugoslovian conflict used to oust the Serbs and put an end to the accused ethnic cleansing. IF that is not an example of a function of world policing, what is? You want me to demonize all US foreign policy and no, I won't do that. The nation is definitely adrift now, and the last decade seems to have been a waste, with the Cold War against Russia over Afghanistan being used as a springboard to invade Middle Eastern countries (I don't think it was necessarily by design, in the beginning, as I think those who militarized the Taliban in the 80s were shortsighted when they left the Afghans to wither on the vine). I'm rambling now but this is a COMPLICATED topic and not on where I'm going to take your bait and rebuke every international action the US has ever taken.
