Hey white folks: would you submit to a law that allowed US police to detain you at will and provide proof that you belong here in an effort to combat white crime? :D

This is what Arizona just did, except with Hispanics. I can see how this is going to go:

Gee, Officer Bob, how can you tell if there is "probable cause" to detain the guy as a suspected illegal?

"Well see, they usually have this dark skin. They look real Mexican. And sometimes they jabber back and forth real funny in this language that ain't American. Those people probably don't belong here."

I'm all for comprehensive border control reform to stem the tide of illegal immigrants, but you would think conservatives - who scream bloody murder at the drop of a hat about the state intruding on their rights - would be highly concerned about setting a precedent of legalizing racial profiling. Is this what the Constitution was all about? The same people who lambast Obama as an intrusive Communist are now supporting this.

Oh, I forgot. Here in America, the right supports Constitutional rights for all citizens - as long as they look and act white.

Re: This Arizona immigration law really PISSES ME OFF

its really a damn shame, thank you Arizona for setting us back another 100 years.

oh and also, the first thing that came to mind was how RM was complaining about getting searched in airports with those scanners. But oh well, i guess being a latino doesnt really count, they can search our asses all they want, i mean, because if your skin is brown, then you must be an illegal inmigrant.

cheers for Arizona.

Re: This Arizona immigration law really PISSES ME OFF

On a side note, my first Arizona experience ever, some friends of mine and I drove down to Yuma to take my buddies boat out and do some wakeboarding in the desert on the river... On our way back (I'll never forget it) off the freeway were a long line of illegals sitting on a curb (this is the desert keep in mind) probably about 75, and several SUV's etc. They all had their hands cuffed or zip-tied behind their back, it was wild to see in real life.

Re: This Arizona immigration law really PISSES ME OFF

If federal government is in default on its “protection against invasion” responsibility, this could empower the state to resort to self-help. Until the federal government starts addressing this problem, states like Arizona will do just about whatever they can to stop illegal entry into this country, including passing harsh laws like this. Said another way, if the federal government did something about illegal immigration, such laws would be unnecessary.

If you didn't know already, this bill passed in recognition of the fatal shooting of Robert Krentz, an old rancher whose killer entered illegally from Mexico. Further, the police themselves have been under siege, where numerous officers have been killed by illegal immigrants in that state. Pheonix is the friggin kindapping capital in the United States. And you've got problems with the drug cartels running back and forth, fucking things up and making for very bad days down towards the southern border. It's "subtle chaos" to quote a longtime friend who lives in Tuscon.

I don't have any one opinion on the particular clauses themselves, but from what I can tell, this law will be largely ineffective in suffocating illegal immigration. I think a better plan is to make the taking of any benefits of a non-citizen incredibly difficult, if not non-existent. I think there should be high penalties on businesses who take advantage of criminals for their businesses.

All this aside, how is this different than what ICE does? How is it possible that the federal government has the 'know-how' to stem the problem, but the state of Arizona, who is clearly in the midst of a serious serious crisis, does not? Someone explain to me how you can combat the problem of illegal immigration and not profile? It's not like we have african or nordic people walking across the southern border all the time.

oh oh, wait. wrong forum.

I think any foreigner should be able to come here illegally, break the immigration laws, and stay here forever. I'm outraged that Arizona is attempting to enforce the law. I mean, what is this, Mexico?

Re: This Arizona immigration law really PISSES ME OFF

I am against any law that limits people to be free in mind, body and spirit. So obviously I would be against this. This is what I don''t understand about Canada and the US. We are countries made by immigrants and then what do we do? We limit immigration. It is completely ass backwards.

Welcome back Slava.. God answered my prayers from the other thread.

Re: This Arizona immigration law really PISSES ME OFF

runningman you are right, our country is made up of immigrants. however, most of the European immigrants that came to the US had applied for citizenship in a legal manner. there probably were people who entered the country illegally but that is just wrong. i'm really against paying for medical coverage, food stamps and other public services for people who should not be in our country in the first place. those programs were not meant for those people

That has no bearing on whether foreigners who enter this country through subversive means, who enter this country illegally, should have access to such programs.

Re: This Arizona immigration law really PISSES ME OFF

Just my two cents, but there really has to be a balance between allowing immigration and not allowing it. In my opinion it is quite out of control therefore something needs to be done. Whether or not this will work is yet to be seen.

You can be all Politically Correct about it, but some of the side effects of immigration can and do include those same people being exploited by companies/individuals for their own profits; taxpayers having to pay for the illegal's healthcare and education for their children; and of course, crime.

This measure is similar to what Italy did last year but again whether it will work or not remains to be seen. It's an unfortunate fact that there are only so many resources to go around now.

Re: This Arizona immigration law really PISSES ME OFF

again, that's just generalizing, and racial profiling, making it a living hell if you are a hispanic.

yeah i think there needs to be something done in regard with immigration, but this is not the way to go. Racial profiling will only lead to more racism and hatred towards the Hispanic community.
again, that's just generalizing, and racial profiling, making it a living hell if you are a hispanic.

How do you square away the requirement of possessing a valid identification card with...er....say....the Netherlands, for example, where “all Dutch citizens from the age of 14 are required to be able to show a valid identity document when the police or other supervisors ask for identification.”? Most countries have this requirement in varying sorts. Of course, those governments kinda give a damn about border security. Also, tell me more about this 'hispanic race'.

I'm personally amused at the people crying out that this will 'profile' hispanics. This does not make it a living hell if you're a hispanic, but it will if you are here illegal. Like I said above, do Arizonan's have a problem with pasty-white canadians crossing illegally into their domain? IMO, people complaining about this law essentially are of the belief that the US should allow unrestricted immigration of anyone who wants to move here; not enforcing the laws is a means of achieving the policy they want.

As a practical matter, the state of Arizona really does not have the police numbers to go around and question every mexican in that state. They have other policing functions, too, you know. And unfortunately this is going to make their job more difficult in the long run. In no way is this going to be a vast and pervasive function of the police in AZ.

All that aside, the USSC will shut this one down on a 5-4 vote, and the 'wise latina' will be the deciding vote. How retardedly poetic, it will be said.

You know, I thought about it, and I can't in good conscience let this go without further comment. I do recognize that on the spectrum of bigotry, this isn't near as bad as some alternatives. With that said, however, I'm not going to sit by in tacit approval while someone makes racially-themed jokes. How is it not racist? It is implying that all white cops are racist. God Toasty you sure are one of the white people out there that just don't get it anymore. You don't have a clue what racism is.

MS isn't a place for this sort of bullshit as you put it. I posted some Mexican jokes.. So what. CJ posted American cops are All racist. Which one is worse? That was the point I was trying to make out of this.

so let me get this straight. You report my post. Then you copy it in a quote? What was the point of reporting the quote if you were just going to copy it? So you didn't want to ban my post you just wanted to report me to the MS police.

Also the cops were white cops checking for skin color. How is that not racist? Why not have one black cop and one white cop. Or one mexican cop and a black cop?? It is racist. You can't even recognize it anymore. You say anyone talking about Mexican Jokes is racist but a cartoon that shows the bad white cops checking for skin color isn't racist?? You must be kidding me.

Steve how am I walking afine line by posting Mexican Jokes.. We can't laugh here? Someone post some asian jokes and white jokes.. I don't give a shit.

Re: This Arizona immigration law really PISSES ME OFF

let me preface this thread. I am 100% behind a portion of the idea of this law. the idea of "being here illegally and having police involved. my area deputized the police into the INS and after a quick spate of violence, our crime dropped drastically (suffolk county NY)

now my thoughts on the LAW, and its context and application.

this law is vile, and should be wiped off the books today. the idea that mirsolav presents is EXACTLY what will happen. they gave far too many powers to have both the police, and the citizens invovled in this. basically, you will be having racist, hate filled people calling the police, reporting bullshit about ppl they know are illegal and them BAM.. BYE ..... the state has put the lives of the latino community in the state if arizon into the very same position, less death of course, that the JEWS were in under NAZI CONTROL. think about it. living like that if you happened to be a 14 year kid who was brought here when you were 3 months old. having to avoid public places, and school, and life....

if they wanted to "process and execute" this idea correctly, accomplishing the "control" over illegal residents, they would hold credit card companies, banks, hospitals, land lords and title companies etc more accountable for reporting the existence, with evidence and instance" . i.e. when a house is about to be bought to be turned into a 7 family apartment, the bank, landlord and parties involved with mandatory federal or state based paperwork would be liable for ensuring the legality of the transaction and reporting hte fraud therein.

now we will have roaming packs f racist fucks running around causing trouble to get the cops there when they feel like "booting the beaner",,,,,

you mad brah. IF they were all 'racist and hate-filled' (typical boilerplate, right?) then they would have been doing this even before the law was passed. amirite.jpg?

But of course, 70+% of Arizonans are hate-filled and racist as well all know. And yet, you're concerned with them being deported? On what basis do you support that people here illegally should remain? Heaven forbid we criminalize crimes brah.

No one is forcing them to stay in Arizona. They can quickly escape the impending kristallnacht and flee to California, New Mexico, or Nevada (or elsewhere!), obvious safe havens from hate-filled racists who have yet to be, but apparently are definitely going to be, involved in the pin-pointing of illegals. (What's the possibility that naturalized immigrants in Arizona won't take part in this?). And while the Arizona police are heavily burdened by investigating other crimes, I'm sure they'll put in the extra hours to get them 'beaner's. No doubt about that.

Christ dude, you make it sound like all illegals will be forced to wear yellow taco patches on their jackets.

(At best, the could have added that "lawful interaction" could not be based upon the investigation of the very statute itself. but ymmv)
