Re: US Role in Tsunami Relief Efforts

US: $35M, plus 12 US Navy vessels and 5,000 sailors

Sweden: Two communications specialists and some tents and radios.

And no toasty, no matter what we do, so long as Bush is in the white house, he could bring every single country out of poverty, and they would still despise him.
Sweden have given $140M

If you also consider the population of our countries as follows:

Us Population: 295,333,320 Swe Population: 9,010,591

US population are about 33 times the swedish so if we would have the same population as you we would have given about $4620M

not to sound bad, but how much money did we get for 9/11 from all these places...........

#348099Post 51 of 56

ohh gots...

#348100Post 52 of 56

Indeed!

I posted that because the statement that we would have sent "Two communications specialists and some tents and radios" are so very wrong.

All of wich places exactly?

#348137Post 54 of 56

the areas that chastise the US for sending enough. i was down at ground zero with the FDNY for some time and all i saw were a few K-9 teams from switzerland and btw thank god for those animals, they found thier share. :|
why isn't places like saudi arabia and Iran giving money to these people?? I hate how it always falls on the USA hands.. Does anybody know if canada is helping?
I'm not sure about Canada, but I heard a report that stated the reason why Muslim countries aren't contributing more money is because they feel that eventhough the tsunami hit countries that have Islam as their primary religion, they should be punished because they don't strictly follow the Koran. Only what I heard, could be a biased report....

America needs a new foreign policy. Don't give money to anyone, it's our fucking money.
