Have you guys heard much about this? Apparently it was a pretty sophisticated operation and most are thinking this is the work of Mossad. Very crazy.

Interpol now has arrest warrants out for all of these people, who knows if any will be caught, apparently they all came to Dubai with fake passports with stolen ID's.

Mossad?!?!?!?!?!?

:runningman:

Seriously, this is pretty bad ass. You see this sort of shit in movies, but it's wild to think of it happening in real life...

Re: Mahmoud al-Mabhouh Assassination

Yeah there are rumors it is them since this guy apparently had a hand in killing some israeli soldiers years ago.

there is a site with like 25 minutes of compiled camera footage of all of the agents moving around town and how they were keeping track of him etc. all the while none of them directly talked to each other via cell, all calls were back to some command center in austria.

here is a bit of the footage

this is like Munich but real life stuff. Nuts.

Sort of like when the IRA assassinated British Solders or the Guards of Prisons holding IRA terrorists. Or the Taliban killing soldiers with land mines. They are all involved in that sort of thing!

The way this story was laid out you would of thought he was some big (Fuck Me I've got a bigger wikipedia than he has) Hamas leader. From what I've read he was he was some arms dealer who was involved in murdering 2 soldiers on the opposing side 20 years ago. The UK media where all over the fact that they used fake UK passports. I wounder why this made the news at all :what

I wonder eh?

The names are out now of the people who's identitys were used and they're in fear of their lives. Great quote in today's paper from Victor Ostrovsky, a former colonel in Mossad, said: "They're safe so to speak, until somebody kills them. I would tell them: do not travel outside the country for at least two years, under any circumstances."

Yeah I see your point. You would think any retaliators would realise they used fake passports. But you can't count on anything these days. I suppose putting it in the public domain does make it safer for the people whose identities where stolen.

Australia is pissed! :x

“We have made no conclusion about what to us seems to be a serious abuse of three Australian passports either through forgery or identity fraud,” Mr Smith told reporters. “If the results of that investigation cause us to come to the conclusion that the abuse of Australian passports was sponsored or condoned by Israeli officials, then Australia would not regard that as the act of a friend.” Israel’s right-wing Government has dismissed the criticism. There has been much press censure of the hit — but also many expressions of pride that Israel can eliminate its enemies.

Re: Mahmoud al-Mabhouh Assassination

i dont think anyone in this thread has said anything remotely like that. i think everyone here agrees this was the work of Mossad.

#1339810Post 23 of 107

Re: Mahmoud al-Mabhouh Assassination

I can't say I look too kindly on extra-judicial killings myself.

If this was Mossad, I would have preferred they handled this target like they did Eichman back a long time ago - that is to say, kidnap him, extradite him back to Israel, have formal judicial process, and sentence him to whatever (death, apparently).

Boondock Saints of the Middle East imo....

Re: Mahmoud al-Mabhouh Assassination

One of the most offensive articles I have ever read. !! Defends Israel's right to hunt down and assassinate using any means possible.

Some of the comments make great points.
I grew up believing that Israel and the Jewish people had been treated appalling and were justified in striking back.

In the last thirty years, however I believe they have squandered their moral position and are equally as guilty as their neighbours of preserving the age old hatred and prejudices of the past.

The settlements in particular and the treatment of the Palestinians within their borders is as much an obscenity as the hatred and bile preached by Mabhouh's Hamas.

What is most upsetting is that the attitude of Israel prolongs the dispute. It's true that they have been treated appallingly in the past... both as a people and as a nation.... but it's equally true that they have behaved appallingly themselves.

Sarah Honig accurately reflects the worst attitudes of Israel. Defiance. Self-Righteousness and a complete inability to understand how they appear to the rest of the world. Sadly, her views are all too common and guarantee that the strife will last for at least another generation or two yet.

Re: Mahmoud al-Mabhouh Assassination

Whenever I hear of a terrorist who is on a weapon buying trip in the Gulf, who has travelled there on a fake Iraqi passport issued by his benefactors in the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has supplied Hamas with medium range rockets from his benefactors, who then gets killed, apparently by 11 people, whoops, not 11, now the figure stands at 26 people, I always think of Mossad, after all, no other intelligence agency on this planet has ever used fake passports to carry outs its missions, likewise no other agency apart from Mossad would send 26, got that, that almost the amount of people on a pitch during a soccer game, to do a job the one person could do. :what

If anyone can actually supply any evidence that Mossad was behind this assassination of a terrorist I would gladly eat my own hat and venture to a Tiesto gig as my punishment for not believing.

Dubai is calling for the arrest of the prime minister of israel for ordering the hit. This is exactly what they should be doing. You can't just go around the world and assasinate people. If someone rapes my sister I can't just go out and say "he was a bad man so I killed him" we have this thing called the LAW that you have to obide by and the rules are the same for everybody, even Israel.

that was Dubai's choice. That is what it means to be a sovereign country. You don't have to agree with the US and Israel. Remember one sides terrorist is another sides freedom fighters.;)

something strange is going on here. There is a lot of anti Israeli talk going on in the media. I think israel is going to attack Iran and the US-UK are trying to talk them out of it by painting Israel black in the media. Just my 2 cents I have no proof.

Uh, am I correct that your position is that this supports the idea that we knew this dude was going to board this particular plane and let him on anyway? First of all, no.

Looks to me like the upshot of this is that we didn't consider him as serious a threat as he turned out to be, but that's totally different from what you're suggesting.
