Is it true that "Stella Artois" is very cheap in England and not considered to be good, more of a lower-end beer?

And do people really call it "wife-beater?"

I have a hard time believing this, is it true?

It's become a very mainstream beer, not really cheap, priced about the same as most others - which is somewhere around £3.00 a pint. It's sold in nearly every pub you go in. You won't see it at any beer festivals or anything like that as it's nothing out of the ordinary (like bud in u.s. maybe?) And yes some people do call it wife beater

I went to see, em, Fleetwood Mac last Sunday. Have to say, I was impressed with their musicality. That blond dolly's singing was a little ropey mind you.
