Re: Random T**ugh,s

Sbando, when you were making good money back in the day before the economy crashed or whatever, you never really complained about being unhappy. I'm wondering, were you just hiding it back then or has it been exacerbated by losing money, job, friends or whatever. I mean how much of this is situational and how much of it is biological? I always wonder that when I see a friend in agony going through depression. Are you bipolar? I've been learning alot about what that is like. Also, do you have a therapist you really like? That made a huge difference in a friend of mines life. It made all the difference actually. What is your routine like? We are also all victims of our habits that we create, for better or for worse. Good luck mate, please don't look for the answers on MS, they won't be here reallly, well maybe a little. Get help from trained professionals please.

Re: Random T**ugh,s
go take a walk

I'm way passed that. Bed-ridden for months.
How serious is that 'bed-ridden' situation? Can you stand up? Can you walk? If so, it's a chance to improve your health, just by walking some more. Walking makes the leg bones and muscles stronger so that walking will be easier next time. It also lowers the blood-pressure, and ofcourse if you walk outside you also get some daylight/sunlight which is also very important.

If walking is really not possible for you then maybe swimming is an option to make the body stronger & healthier, or just some exercises on a daily basis to strengthen your legs? I don't know, I just have a feeling that it's very important to get out of the bed-ridden situation, if it's possible. I don't know what else to say...

Try to keep hope, and I'm wishing you all the strength in the world sbando.

Re: Random T**ugh,s

Yeah, stay on the safe side and do not try anything to help..

What's the alternative, waiting for miracles? At least some people do care.

Re: Random T**ugh,s

^^^ You think giving ill informed, unqualified advice is caring. ?? It's pretty obvious the "helping" really isn't . Yes, some do care, but we have enough sense to realise that we can do more damage than good .

Re: Random T**ugh,s

I probably shared too much. I shared it for myself but I know some of you really care.

Flori, depression works like this:

It plants a seed when you're a teen, following some event. The seed stays dormant for years, even decades. Then some traumatic event happens: you lose a dear one (or even your pet). Depression takes over Depression is a mental disease, not a "state of mind", "sadness" or introversion. I'm a bipolar, so I have days of hyperactivity. Kurt Cobain was or is the poster boy for the bipolar disorder.
Don't follow my advise sbando, didi already knows it will do no good.
It's not that anybody KNOWS it will do no good, it may do.. But there's a chance it could make things worse so can be a dangerous game jumping in if you're not qualified to do so..

People study and qualify in this area for good reason.

If a friend or family member needs heart surgery what do you do? Offer them support? Be around when they need you? Help out where you can? Reassure them if need be?

You don't do the surgery yourself

Re: Random T**ugh,s

Someone could have attached jingle bells to my feet and told me I was born with them; then I go around believing it & telling the story how I was born with jingle bells on my feet. Until someone else comes along and says that's ridiculous & shows me how to cut the bells off, I could be "attached" (literally or figuratively) to that perceived reality my whole life & it could be really harmful.

If helpful and empowering, some beliefs (or attachments to particular concepts) are valuable. When they're limiting, devaluing, hurtful, and really useless, attaching meaning to perceptions and beliefs is dangerous, imo. Our world is full of cultures with wacky ideas that justify hurting ourselves or others through beliefs/ideas. It's all just conditioning.

One of my fav quotes: "Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities." -Voltaire Beliefs, definitions of things, conclusions of oneself.... are all powerful with power to harm or help... or they are meaningless.

Sometimes people need a way to define their own emotional map (e.g., "these are the peaks, here are the valleys, this is why," etc.) and that helps them for awhile, or medication helps. Nothing wrong with that..... until it's no longer helpful. Then it's time to open up & expand your mind/views... seek out the help you need.

I've found there are just as many (if not more) wacked out/hurtful professionals with MDs and PhDs as there are good ones.

Re: Random T**ugh,s

Back from my trip to Europe -- amazing time spent in Paris and Rome with the Missus. Can't say I enjoyed the 11 + 1 hour flights back to the states, but of course more than well worth the time spent traveling. Paris was incredible, I found the people to be very kind and helpful, nothing like the rumors I had heard. Highlights were riding bikes around the entire city and night, Notre Dame at night, and the best damn ice cream I've ever had on the little island near Notre Dame. Palace of Versailles and of course the Lourve. Was also cool to see Fashion Week happening, the weather was actually perfect, no rain and no humidity in either cities. Can hardly wait to return to Paris.... didn't get to make it to Concrete, I was super bummed about that, my wife just was not up for it. Travel takes a lot out of her and I am of course sensitive to that, so that's that. Rome I felt like we didn't even get to really scratch the surface of the culture their, but the food was great and people were very friendly and warm there. Got some incredible photos and videos - will share some soon.

Just got back from an incredible journey to Antigua + Village of Santa Cruze/Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. I don't think it's possible to go there and not come back a changed person. The Guatemalan and Mayan people are amazing.

As for the country itself...beautiful-

A moment of clarity before bed. Tomorrow morning the illusion of life again. But there's no healing, no human touch, no happy ending. Just going through the motions.Till the next enlightenment will suggest you that it's probably time to leave.

Re: Random T**ugh,s

A request is not a criticism. Hurt & disappointment are valid, not criticizing. Communication of feelings is healthy, criticism is unhealthy. Controlling thru passive aggression is damaging; expression of feelings, desires, needs with acceptance build a bond.

Asking someone to deal with hurtful issues is a healthy request.

Have a great day.
